Chapter 31: Yuuya’s Journey to Dwargon

After mastering my Ultimate Skill, I felt it was time to explore more of the Cardinal World. I had spent weeks battling monsters, honing my skills, and pushing my powers to their limit. Though I had grown strong, I knew that true strength came not only from power but from knowledge and experience. This world was vast, filled with kingdoms, races, and powerful beings. If I wanted to be at the top, I needed to understand this world completely.

Before departing, I stood before Veldora, who seemed uncharacteristically quiet. His golden draconic eyes stared at me with a faint sadness. Though he wouldn't admit it, I could tell he didn't want me to leave.

"Oi, Yuuya. You're leaving already?" His deep, rumbling voice filled the cavern. His casual tone failed to mask the slight trace of disappointment.

I smirked, trying to lighten the mood.

"Yeah, I need to see what this world is all about. I can't stay cooped up here forever. But don't worry... I'll be back. You're too fun to leave behind, after all."

Veldora's massive jaw curled into a toothy grin, and he let out a familiar three-stage laugh.

"HAHA! HAHA! HAAAHAAAA! You dare imply I'll miss you, Yuuya?! Preposterous!" he bellowed, but I could sense the playful warmth in his voice.

I gave him a reassuring nod and thinking to myself, "Rimuru should be reincarnated in a year or two. I know he'll come here to free you, just like in the book. So, try not to be too lonely while I'm gone."

For once, Veldora was speechless. He just snorted and turned his head to the side with mock indifference.

"Feh. As if I care! Go on then, Yuuya. Go play adventurer. But when you come back, you better be a worthy rival!"

With a final glance, I turned and left the cave, my footsteps echoing through the ancient cavern.

As I traversed the forest, I found myself lost in thought. The way I gained power felt... different from the monsters and people of this world.

"I don't recall Rimuru getting monster drops or weapons from kills... Was that because he was reincarnated and not brought in through a door like me? Or is this some kind of cheat ability unique to me?"

I shrugged.

"Well, whatever. As long as I keep getting stronger, I'm not complaining."

The Jura Forest was massive, filled with a variety of creatures. Unlike the weaker monsters I fought before, I was now encountering intelligent monsters—beings capable of speech and wielding magic. Some were named monsters, which Veldora had told me were significantly stronger than their unnamed counterparts.

"Hah... so these are the creatures that will probably end up under Rimuru's command one day."

But unlike Rimuru, I had no interest in building a kingdom or creating a town. I was after strength—not politics. I left all that king-making stuff to him.

For two weeks, I fought countless monsters—Dire Wolves, Forest Bears, Giant Serpents, and even Ogres. Each battle further refined my mastery over my Ultima Skill Tyrannis. The Absolute Drain effect allowed me to absorb magicules from powerful monsters, steadily increasing my strength.

After two weeks of trekking, I finally reached the edge of the forest. I stood on a hilltop, gazing out at the vast expanse beyond. The endless greenery gave way to open plains, and in the distance, I spotted a caravan of wagons moving slowly along a dirt road.

"Perfect. This will save me some time."

I descended the hill and approached the caravan. The closer I got, the clearer I could see the passengers—Elves, Dwarves, and a few Humans. Their worn but determined expressions told me they were likely merchants or travelers heading to a trade city.

As I neared the group, a Dwarven man riding at the front raised his hand, signaling the caravan to stop. His sharp brown eyes narrowed with suspicion as he glared at me, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword.

"Oi, who goes there?!" he barked, his voice deep and commanding.

I raised my hands casually, offering a disarming smile.

"Easy, easy. I'm just a traveler. I'm heading to Dwargon. Mind if I hitch a ride?"

The dwarven man eyed me warily, then glanced at my black coat, sword, and confident stance. His brow furrowed, clearly recognizing that I wasn't some ordinary wanderer.

"Hmm... You're not from around here, are ya?" he muttered suspiciously.

Before I could answer, an Elven woman from one of the wagons peeked out. She had long silver hair, piercing emerald eyes, and wore a modest green robe.

"Ah! You're the one from the forest, right? The one who helped us fend off that wyvern?!"

I blinked.

"Wait... a wyvern? Oh right... I did obliterate that thing two days ago."

The dwarf's eyes widened.

"Wait... you took down a bloody wyvern by yourself?!"

I rubbed the back of my head casually.

"Eh, it wasn't that big of a deal."

The elves and dwarves exchanged glances, clearly impressed. The dwarf cracked a grin and motioned toward the back of the caravan.

"Hop on, warrior. Any man who can take down a wyvern is welcome in my caravan."

As I rode in the back of the wagon, I struck up a conversation with the Elven woman and the Dwarven man, who introduced themselves as Lyria and Galt, respectively.

Lyria smiled warmly.

"So, Yuuya... where are you from? You don't look like you're from any kingdom I know."

I casually glanced at the horizon.

"Oh... just from a faraway land. You wouldn't have heard of it."

Galt chuckled.

"Ah! A mysterious warrior, eh? Well, wherever you're from, it must be strong if it produces men like you."

As the caravan rolled on, they shared tales of their travels. They explained that Dwargon was a thriving dwarven kingdom, known for its craftsmanship, weapon forges, and ale.

Galt took a swig from a flask of dwarven liquor and offered it to me.

"Here! Take a sip! It'll put hair on yer chest!"

I smirked, accepting the flask and taking a sip. The fiery burn coursed down my throat, and I coughed lightly.

"Damn... you weren't kidding."

The group laughed heartily, and the atmosphere turned lively and friendly.

After a few days of travel, the caravan finally reached Dwargon. The massive stone walls carved into the mountain face loomed before us. The city's entrance was bustling with travelers, merchants, and adventurers.

The line to enter the kingdom was long, winding along the mountain path. I dismounted the wagon and turned to Galt and Lyria, who were preparing to enter the city.

"Thanks for the ride," I said with a grin.

Galt clapped me on the shoulder.

"Don't mention it! If ya ever need a drink or a place to stay, look me up!"

Lyria smiled and pointed toward the northwestern part of the city.

"There's a good inn called the Stoneflame Tavern. If you need a place to rest, go there. The owner is kind and fair."

I nodded.

"Thanks. I'll see you both around."

With a final wave, we parted ways.

Once inside, I walked through the stone streets, marveling at the architecture. The city was massive, carved directly into the mountain. Shops, taverns, and blacksmiths lined the streets, and the smell of roasting meat and ale filled the air.

I entered a weapon shop, selling some of the extra gear and monster drops I had accumulated. The shopkeeper's eyes widened at the quality of my spoils, and I walked out with a fat pouch of gold coins.

"Heh... money's no issue now."
