Chapter 2556: Chapter 2557: Never Been So Speechless Before
Some of the lightly injured individuals groaned and staggered to their feet from the ground.
"Brother Tao, this guy is way tougher than we imagined. He fights like a demon."
By this point, everyone’s attitude toward Lin Yi had changed, becoming more cautious, even fearful.
"This time, we’ve definitely encountered a tough opponent," Zhou Chengtao said.
"But we can’t let this go easily. Otherwise, I won’t be able to hold a footing in this industry anymore."
"Should we call Young Master Qi? If he steps in, it’ll be easier to handle this."
The man Bald referred to as Young Master Qi was named Qi Jingsi, the powerful backer behind Zhou Chengtao.
Over the years, Zhou Chengtao wouldn’t have dared to act so boldly in Yanjing without Qi Jingsi supporting him from behind the scenes.
"This small matter doesn’t warrant troubling Young Master Qi," Zhou Chengtao said, squinting his eyes.
"But this kid is too good at fighting. Even if we call more people, we probably won’t stand a chance against him."
"Making a move on him might not work, but his family members are still here," Zhou Chengtao mused before saying:
"First, arrange for your sister-in-law to leave this place and not stay here for the time being. Then send some men to the parking lot and the main entrance to keep an eye on them. If you see anyone leaving, follow them immediately."
"Got it!" freewёbnoνel.com
Upon receiving Zhou Chengtao’s orders, those of his subordinates who could still move sprang into action.
The more severely injured ones, their heads bloodied, were taken to the hospital.
Additionally, Zhou Chengtao made a call, summoning over twenty more people, signaling his intent to have a decisive showdown with Lin Yi.
At the same time, after dealing with the immediate situation, Lin Yi and Yan Ci left the maternity center.
"I have other things to attend to, so I won’t stay with you," Yan Ci said.
Lin Yi reached out and gently fixed her long hair that had been disheveled by the wind. "Next time something like this happens, remember to call me."
"You’re always busy, so I don’t want to trouble you."
Yan Ci wrinkled her dainty nose. "But this was beyond what I could handle, so I had no choice but to call you."
"I know how you think, and I doubt you’d listen even if I tried to convince you. Just remember, whatever happens, don’t be afraid, as long as you don’t get yourself hurt."
"Got it, understood!"
Yan Ci smiled. "Go spend time with your family. I’ve got other things to take care of."
"Take care on the way."
"I will."
Lin Yi stood still, watching Yan Ci leave, then returned upstairs.
Inside the room, the family was laughing and chatting, with the adults taking turns holding the baby, completely overjoyed.
At around nine in the evening, Lin Jingzhan and Qin Yingyue prepared to leave, and Lin Yi escorted them to the hotel.
"How’s my other daughter-in-law doing? She should be due soon, right?"
On the way to the hotel, Lin Jingzhan asked.
"She’s getting close," Lin Yi replied. "About another week or so until the due date."
"Once things here are more or less sorted, we should head back to Zhong Hai."
Lin Yi nodded. "It’s been a long time; I should go back and check in."
Lin Yi had a rough understanding of the situation in Zhong Hai.
Ji Qingyan seemed to be in good condition; nothing significant should happen within the next week.
Because of this, he planned to stay in Yanjing for a few more days, especially since Liang Ruoxu had just had her baby.
Passing by the flashing neon lights, for a brief moment, Lin Yi and Lin Jingzhan both glanced at the rearview mirror and noticed a black BMW trailing behind them.
The two exchanged a glance but made no move.
Soon after, the car arrived at the nearby Kempinski Hotel.
Before getting out, the family of three chatted for a while longer, and Lin Yi then drove off.
"What’s going on here?"
On the way back, Lin Yi muttered to himself.
He discovered that the BMW that had been following him earlier had disappeared.
Lin Yi rubbed his jaw, puzzled. He hadn’t done anything to shake them off, so why had they vanished?
After a few seconds of contemplation, Lin Yi was certain that the black BMW had indeed been tailing him.
Now that it was gone, there was only one possible explanation.
Their target had shifted.
Lin Yi seemed slightly annoyed. Could it be that they had set their sights on his family?
After glancing at the rearview mirror again to confirm no one was following, Lin Yi stopped overthinking and drove leisurely back to the maternity center.
Meanwhile, two more cars pulled up to the hotel entrance.
Zhou Chengtao stepped out of one and stopped by the BMW already parked there. The car door opened, and two men in their thirties stepped out.
"Brother Tao, the kid’s parents are staying in this hotel, in room 1809."
"You’re sure the information is accurate?" Zhou Chengtao asked grimly.
"Absolutely accurate," one of the men replied.
"When we were leaving, we saw that man call the woman ’Mom.’ No mistake about it."
"Let’s go check it out!"
Zhou Chengtao led his men inside the hotel and took the elevator to room 1809.
Knock knock knock—
Inside the room, Qin Yingyue and Lin Jingzhan were discussing their plans to return to Zhong Hai when there was suddenly a knock at the door.
"Go take a look. Maybe it’s our son coming back."
"If there was something, he’d have called. He wouldn’t come back for no reason."
Muttering under his breath, Lin Jingzhan walked over to open the door, only to see Zhou Chengtao and his men standing outside.
"Who are you..."
"Cut the crap!"
Not giving Lin Jingzhan a moment to say more, Zhou Chengtao forcefully shoved him back into the room.
Without hesitation, Zhou Chengtao and his subordinates flooded inside.
Lin Jingzhan and Qin Yingyue exchanged a glance, completely baffled.
What was going on?
It had been years since they’d last encountered something like this.
Scratching his head, Lin Jingzhan tentatively asked, "Did you come to cause trouble?"
"Not exactly. But there’s an old saying in China, ’Raise but don’t teach, the father is at fault.’ You should’ve heard that, right?"
"I’m not exactly cultured, so I don’t get what you mean. Can you spell it out?"
Qin Yingyue stood to the side, tidying up her belongings.
She couldn’t remember ever feeling so exasperated in her life.
"It’s fine if you don’t understand. Let me make it simple for you," Zhou Chengtao said.
"Your son is quite the big shot. He beat the crap out of us. And this account needs to be settled properly with you."
Lin Jingzhan nodded. "Ah, so that’s what this is about. So how do you plan to settle it? Beat us both up?"
"Heh..."
Zhou Chengtao smirked coldly, pulled up a chair, and sat down. He said, "We’re not good people, but we have basic integrity. Naturally, we wouldn’t lay hands on a lady. So, this debt falls squarely on you."
"Got it."
Lin Jingzhan said, "Settling accounts is fine. Let me pack up first; my stuff is pretty valuable, so don’t break it."
"Relax, we’re not after your money. Take a few minutes if you need."
"Great, thanks."
From behind his back, Lin Jingzhan pulled out a dagger and a gun, placing them on the nearby table. He grinned at Zhou Chengtao:
"Now we can get started."
