"No thanks," I grimaced, holding Ellie in a princess carry.

"Can’t you see the value in making a sacrifice for the sake of understanding time? By doing this, we might uncover valuable insights into the possible outcomes if you were to be taken out of the picture, even though your presence is crucial to the plot of existence," he said, attempting to persuade me, but at that moment, it felt like trying to communicate with a brick wall.

"Again… No," I stated, clearly not interested even a bit since I already had the answer to that.

"Tsk," he clicked his tongue, not pushing it any longer.

"If you were to be a god, what would you be?" I asked, thinking deeply about it, and though the answer was obvious, it didn’t look like the case.

"Well, I can’t truly call myself a god, because a god must master an attribute to fully embody it. I can’t be labeled a god of time, as time itself doesn’t require a deity for its existence. Think of time as an array—it serves a singular purpose yet possesses the incredible ability to maintain order, the only force in existence capable of freezing the WILL, ORDER, and even the FATES simultaneously. Such immense power... do you really believe that one being could be entrusted with it?" he said, lightly touching his blindfold.

"This is it," he remarked, his form beginning to dissolve into shards of light.

"What… should I do now?" I inquired.

"This ancient world was meant to crumble the moment you received the blessing. Yet, because I am here, it has endured. Once I vanish, it will all fade away," he explained.

"Is there anything else I should know?" I asked, and though I had a lot of questions, like what really are the records and much more, I will just listen to Stem’s advice… I am still too weak to know some things, so I won’t.

"Just hold on. This isn’t a farewell, old friend; I have a strong feeling we will meet again. So don’t lose hope. Keep striving, and perhaps you can change your destiny," he said, smiling gently before...

…color began to seep back into the world.

"He’s gone," I observed, then turned towards the group of shadows that still had their swords embedded in my form, their leader maintaining a triumphant grin. But…

…just as the color returned, his smile vanished in an instant.

"What… WHAT IS HAPPENING?!" he screamed. But before he could react, his body started to crack, and the shadowy figures he commanded quickly followed suit, fracturing alongside him.

"No… No… NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" he cried out, huge mana surging from his very being, and then…

BOOOOM!

A sonic blast of mana claimed their immediate surroundings, shattering everything in its wake. Luckily… hm, I just remembered I didn’t get his name… Anyway, he had predicted this happening somehow, that’s why I was at this distance with Ellie.

And just as the leader and the many other shadows combusted, the world was also fracturing. It was dying.

"Well, every journey always has an end, I guess," I smiled, then turned to look at the sleeping Ellie, whose hand tightened around my neck.

Seems she is having a nightmare.

Well…

… I guess I can let her be for the time being.

Hm.

I don’t know, but after speaking with that guy, I now feel more…

… free.

It’s as though this burden has been lifted from my chest, like this weight has been taken from my shoulders and I can now truly breathe.

All the secrets that felt like they were choking me…

… all the continuous misconceptions trying to lead me astray…

… I now understand what I have to do…

"Hehehehe… Sleep well. Next time we meet, I might not be able to stop myself from killing you so-called main characters," I said, looking as I found myself appearing inside a room—not just me, though, everyone else…

… or rather…

… what was left of them.

"You…? Unhand-!" he tried to scream, but before he could, I had already leaped up into the air and struck the bastard squarely on the neck.

’He’s down,’

Aside from that bastard Leo, who as expected survived, since he was also present in future arcs, everyone else was…

… dead.

Seems the waver was right after all, and from how I see it, the fates still try to protect main characters subtly.

"The fates…"

Hehe.

Let’s see how much you can protect your so-called children of destiny.

Let’s see how long…

… you can protect them from me.

"Hm," I hummed, my finger grazing past her cheek as her hold on my neck tightened once more.

I need power.

I need so much power that even ridiculous situations like plot armor would be child’s play before me.

I need power… to escape the hold of fate.

If what ’he’ said is true, then other realms exist.

And since I am an anomaly, as he also said, perhaps leaving this world to a place where I am not shackled by fate truly is possible.

But first…

… first, I have to take care of ’her.’

I can’t see ’her’ yet, and if what he said is true, then ’she’ would probably make an appearance at that point which ’she’ deems my lowest.

At that point when hatred has truly consumed me.

She would probably make an appearance then.

But…

… too bad for her.

I have already been at my lowest.

"System," I said, and then…

[Ding!]

[System Online]

Hm.

I turned just beside the bed, and there I found a charred corpse lying there.

"I see," I muttered under my breath, then nodded before looking ahead.

"Is there a way to restore system consciousness?" I asked.

[Negative]

It replied, and I sighed.

"Show me the shop,"

[What do you wish to buy?]

"I don’t know… just show me something I can leave as a present for my dear villainess," I smiled sinisterly.

[Ding!]

[One item has been found that might suit the user’s need.]

"Show it to me," I said, and then an interface materialized.
