Chapter 50: Merlin Vs Zyrith

Merlin stood with an air of nonchalance, his robes billowing slightly from the residual heat of Zyrith’s flames. The room crackled with tension as fire danced along Zyrith’s blade, her anger palpable. She dashed forward with incredible speed, her flaming sword cutting through the air in an arc aimed at Merlin’s neck.

Merlin raised a single finger, muttering a brief incantation. A barrier of shimmering ice formed instantly, intercepting the strike. The collision hissed as the heat of her flames clashed against the cold, but the ice held firm. Merlin chuckled. "You’ll have to do better than that."

Zyrith growled, her frustration growing. "Stop mocking me!" she screamed, launching a volley of fireballs in rapid succession. Each orb of flame roared as it tore through the air toward him.

Merlin sighed, waving his hand lazily. A gust of wind surged forward, extinguishing the fireballs before they could reach him. He yawned theatrically. "Is this all you’ve got? I was hoping for more of a challenge."

Zyrith gritted her teeth, the veins on her forehead pulsing as she surged forward again. Her sword ignited even brighter, the flames now white-hot as she swung with all her might. Merlin sidestepped effortlessly, the tip of her blade missing him by mere inches.

"Your form is good," he remarked casually, his tone almost condescending. "But you’re relying too much on brute force. Strategy, my dear, is key."

"Shut up!" Zyrith shouted, spinning mid-strike and aiming another blow at his midsection.

Merlin raised his hand, summoning a wall of earth that blocked her attack. The ground beneath them trembled as Zyrith’s sword cleaved through the barrier, sending shards of stone flying. Merlin clapped slowly. "Impressive. You’ve got determination, I’ll give you that."

Her frustration boiled over as she leapt back, flames coiling around her body. "Why are you here?" she demanded, her voice cracking with anger. "You’re supposed to be on the frontlines of the war! Why are you here of all places?"

Merlin smirked, his eyes glinting with amusement. He didn’t answer immediately, letting the silence hang in the air. The smirk on his face only fueled Zyrith’s rage.

"Answer me!" she shouted, flames erupting around her in a violent inferno. She charged at him again, swinging her sword wildly, each strike more desperate than the last.

Merlin dodged with a grace that made the effort seem trivial, occasionally countering with small spells to keep her at bay. A gust of wind here, a splash of water there—nothing that could be considered a serious attack.

"You’re not even trying!" Zyrith screamed, her frustration reaching a breaking point. She stepped back, panting heavily, her body trembling.

Merlin tilted his head, his smirk growing. "If you insist on knowing..." he began, his voice calm. "Let’s just say someone needed to keep an eye on this place. And besides..." He gestured at her, his expression turning mockingly sympathetic. "Me being in the frontline is overkill for my enemies ,there always surrender when they see me in the Frontline, which makes it boring, so i decided to keep me staying in the city a secret but lucky me ,i am with one demon lord followers right in front of me , please don’t be weak ,so you won’t die easily ."

Zyrith’s eyes widened, her anger boiling over. She let out a guttural scream, the flames around her intensifying to a blinding level. Her body began to glow ominously as she channeled mana recklessly, her veins pulsating with fiery light.

"What are you doing?" Merlin’s smirk faded, replaced by a serious expression. "You’re overloading your magic circuits! If you keep this up, your body will break apart, and you’ll trigger a mana explosion!"

Zyrith coughed violently, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth, but she grinned through the pain. "I don’t care," she said, her voice filled with manic determination. "If I can kill you in the process... it’ll be worth it. Glory to the Demon Lord!"

Her body began to crack, fissures of fiery light spreading across her skin as her scream echoed through the room. ƒrēenovelkiss.com

"Foolish girl!" Merlin shouted, his voice tinged with genuine anger. He raised both hands, intricate spell circles forming in the air around him. "If you detonate here, you’ll take the entire area with you!"

The spell circles glowed brighter as Merlin cast a series of high-level spells in quick succession. Water surged forward to douse the flames erupting from Zyrith’s body, while barriers of earth and ice formed to contain the impending explosion. A powerful gust of wind swept through the room, attempting to disperse the concentrated mana.

But it wasn’t enough. With a deafening roar, Zyrith’s body erupted in a massive explosion, obliterating the orphanage and a portion of the surrounding area.

And then, silence.

The scene shifted abruptly. Time rewound itself, and Merlin stood in the room once more, facing Zyrith as she prepared to overload her circuits. This time, he acted swiftly.

"Why do they always like committing double suicides ,if they want to die ,pleade die alone," he muttered, his tone grim. With a flick of his wrist, a powerful gust of wind shot forward, slamming into Zyrith and sending her hurtling against the wall. The impact cracked the stone, and Zyrith let out a pained gasp before collapsing to the ground, unconscious.

Merlin let out a frustrated sigh, running a hand through his hair. "This is why I hate using certain powers. It ruins all the fun."

He walked toward Zyrith’s prone form, stretching his arms as a small pocket dimension opened beside him. From it, he retrieved a rope shimmering with magical energy. "Can’t have you pulling a stunt like that again," he muttered.

Using a levitation spell, he bound her tightly with the enchanted rope, ensuring she couldn’t move or use magic even if she woke up. He stepped back, examining his work with a critical eye before letting out another sigh.

"Why do they always insist on making things so dramatic?" he said, shaking his head. "Now, where was I?"
