I Have A Baby From My Ex-Husband's Enemy-Chapter 78: Trial Begins, Will Everything Be OK?
The first trial started, my heart was beating very fast because I had never attended something like this before. It was so tense and scared me.
What if Vin won the case? What if I would be pulled back in with him and... And...
"It’s okay, you don’t have to be afraid," Sean said, suddenly taking my hand.
I felt a little calmer because of his words, though the worry was still there. What should I say if they ask me about Carmelia? About my relationship with Sean when Vin and I weren’t officially divorced.
And my fears were right, at first there was a mediation between me and Vin to find out what had happened. His lawyer also started to ask me questions about many things, and the question about Carmelia really got to him.
"From the information I got, you had a child with Sean Osbert when your marriage status with my client was still legal. Can you explain how that happened? Did you deliberately run away and have an affair with Sean Osbert?"
"About that..." I looked at Mr. Luke who was our lawyer, he nodded and asked me to explain everything.
I told him how it happened, and Sean’s role in the beginning was that of a man who wanted to take responsibility for the child in my belly at that time.
"Since then I’ve been living with him because I have no other place to live or a job," I explained.
However, they seemed to deny that I had been evicted from Vin’s house and many other things that seemed like they were putting pressure on me and Sean. Moreover, Sean was a business competitor of Vin’s.
Mr. Luke started to interrupt, saying that what was being asked was out of context and had nothing to do with the case at hand.
The trial became lengthy as Vin’s lawyers kept talking again and again. Meanwhile, Mr. Luke listened to what they were saying. Why is he silent so much? I didn’t understand.
Until finally when it was his turn to ask questions, what he said and did was beyond my expectations. He had a lot of evidence that even Sean and I didn’t know where he got it from.
"This is proof of wire transfers under the company name Yozara Company. Then the names of the people involved in the kidnapping case, the scene and the last CCTV seen," he explained.
"That’s impossible, just because of this you can’t say that it’s all my doing," Vin said trying to defend himself.
"Really? Then where were you on the day of the incident? You weren’t at your house at that time. You weren’t at the company and your car even went towards the mountains. The same route as the car that took my client away. The license plate is in the name of Vincent Percy. Do you still want to deny it?" asked Mr. Luke.
Unbelievable, I’ve never seen anything like this before.
"I heard he has his own informant for every case he does. I’m sure that informant is so expert that he can get all this information," said Sean.
"Really?"
"Yeah, not everyone can access what he’s showing as evidence right now. Plus he has acquaintances in the police who he can look back at his client’s case more thoroughly," he explained.
No wonder he is so good at choosing connections for his work.
Even in this trial, Samantha and Alice came as witnesses to what I told them. They admitted that Vin himself said he planned all these things.
They also confirmed what I said about me being kicked out of Percy’s place.
Vin seemed to be glaring at them, and I couldn’t blame him for that because the family that was supposed to be on his side turned against him in court. But what Vin did was wrong and Samantha and Alice are paying the price for what they did.
But it was too late, Vin had become a monster to everyone. At least I wanted him to have a good rehabilitation.
After a few hours, the first hearing was over and it looked like we were going to win this hearing. The decision will be made at the second hearing, which means it’ll be over soon, right?
"Thank you, Mr. Luke. I can see that we’re going to be successful with this case," Sean said as he shook his hand.
"I only did what I thought was right and this is what really happened. We just have to wait for the judgment hearing next month," he said.
"But we still want to thank you for your help," I said as I bowed.
He nodded and then excused himself to go pick up his daughter at daycare.
Me, Sean and Megan also went to pick up Carmelia at the daycare as there was no way we could bring her here.
On the way, we felt very relieved and couldn’t wait for next month’s decision. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
"Once everything is finalized, we’ll prepare our marriage license. It feels like a dream come true," said a delighted Sean.
"Right! I hope that annoying Vincent stays in jail forever because he’s completely out of control!"
"I just want this to be over quickly and everyone to get on with their lives," I said.
I don’t hate Vin, I just don’t like the person he is now. After all, he’s been someone I’ve loved for several years and he’s always treated me very well.
I want the best for him, hoping he finds someone who loves him sincerely. Now that Samantha and Alice have realized their mistake, only Vin has to accept the fact that I no longer love him.
None of this was his fault, but I was the one who ultimately chose to be with Sean after what happened. It may sound unfair, but everything has happened and there’s no turning back the time.
Now...
I turned to Sean who was driving but his hand was clasping mine. I returned his hand and smiled.
I just wanted to preserve my new happiness with Sean and our little daughter Carmelia.
I hoped that the final hearing would be in our favor and that everything would be fine until it was all over.
