Chapter 1287: Chapter 1287: Extra Story of Du Fu 13 (Additional Chapter for Thousand Seal-Flavored Wine)

The waves crashed on the beach, the wind howled, and Du Lai faintly heard something else.

He suspiciously looked around, his gaze falling on a cluster of reef rocks not far ahead. Quickening his pace, he walked over and climbed onto a lower rock, finally seeing the source of the sound—

A monkey.

To be precise, a monkey trapped in a golden cage.

Du Lai couldn’t help but sigh.

More than a monkey, he wished to find something useful, like bottles and jars to collect rainwater, plastic bags, or tools for camping outdoors such as knives and ropes.

But there was none of that.

Only a monkey.

The cage was stuck between some rocks, and the monkey inside was letting out pitiful cries, its big round eyes innocently looking at Du Lai, as if pleading for rescue.

If he didn’t rescue it, with the tide rising, it would drown.

Du Lai braced against a rock, got into the gap between the rocks, grabbed the metal ring at the top of the cage, and pulled it out with force.

The monkey, quite frightened, as soon as it was free, immediately reached out its paws and tightly hugged Du Lai’s leg!

Du Lai pried its paws off and searched around the reef, but found nothing else.

He felt discouraged.

Picking up the cage and heading back, from a distance, the young lady saw him returning and called out, "Did you find anything? Where are we sleeping tonight?"

Du Lai just shook his head.

As he got closer, the young lady saw the cage in his hand and widened her eyes in surprise, "You found Alice? Did you see my bodyguard?"

Du Lai still shook his head, put down the cage, and said, "It’s getting dark, and I’m afraid rescue won’t arrive today. Miss, we need to plan for the long term. This cage could be modified for fishing, and the monkey could serve as food. As for fresh water, we’ll have to look deeper into the jungle."

The young lady stared at him, "Alice is so cute, and you want to eat her? You’re so cruel!"

Du Lai: "..."

Who was the one thinking of throwing it into the sea to feed the fish?

Facing someone erratic and denying their own words, Du Lai didn’t want to waste energy and time arguing with her.

He didn’t want to die.

He had to use every ounce of strength to survive.

"I’m going to the forest to find a water source," Du Lai said.

The young lady asked, "What about me?"

"Miss, stay here and wait for me. The conditions in the forest are unknown, and there might be dangers. It’s more convenient for me to go alone." Du Lai said as he bent down to tie his pant legs securely to prevent bugs from getting inside.

When he straightened up again, he saw the young lady standing with a stern face, blocking his path.

Du Lai: "..."

The young lady said, "I want to go with you! What if you leave me here and don’t come back?"

Du Lai’s mouth twitched as he said, "How could I do that? I’m still waiting for your bodyguard to save us, and also the one million you mentioned, right?"

She thought it over and agreed that his words made sense, but she still didn’t want to let him go, frowning, "No, I’ll be scared alone here."

Du Lai thought that someone should stay here to watch the rescue signal. If a plane did happen to fly by, they wouldn’t be completely unaware.

But someone had to find the water source too.

He hesitated for a long time and then compromised, saying, "Alright, you can come with me, but we need to be quick. It will be very dangerous in the forest after dark."

The young lady added, "My leg hurts."

Du Lai: "..."

He really had a headache, looking at her innocent-looking face, and asked, "So what do you propose?"

With a straightforward tone, the young lady said, "You carry me."

Du Lai: "..."

Traveling through the jungle is already an exhausting task, and now he had to carry her too?

Is this a quest for a water source or a suicide mission?
