I Just Want to Farm, But My Beasts Keep Evolving!!-Chapter 40: Real Men Can Dodge Too!!
"I am going to show you how to do this, so watch me closely, okay?" Raiden got ready on the starting line as he talked to Woolie, who was watching him with keen interest from the side.
"Woo!" ( •̀ ω •́ )y
Taking a deep breath, Raiden got into running position. He had no other choice. He had no other Terra Beasts that could help him train his Woolie; it was just him and his Terran.
He asked Ruby for help, but she flat-out refused, saying he needs to learn to do it himself. Left with no other choice, he got on the starting line himself, determined to teach him the correct way.
"Three...Two...One...And, Go!!" After a self-countdown, Raiden bolted, running at a super-fast speed, covering the distance of 100 meters in a matter of few seconds.
Soon, he easily ran past the first stump, nearing the first turn.
"Watch closely, Woolie!!" Just as he reached the first turn, he kicked out with his left leg on the ground, using the force behind it to propel himself further in the opposite direction, without losing much momentum.
"Just like this!! Using your—"
He kicked with his right leg this time, changing directions once again midway to dodge the stump.
"—your legs to change the direction!!"
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Raiden soon got the hang of it, changing directions and moving more and more smoothly, all the while talking to Woolie.
A minute later, Raiden completed the whole course, panting at the finish line. It took more stamina than he anticipated, changing movements like that. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"Well, do you understand what to do now?" He asked Woolie, who seemed to be watching him with starry eyes.
"Woolie~!" ( ╹▽╹ )
"Alright, you turn now. Go, give it a try." Woolie nodded at him before moving to the starting line.
A second later, he burst into action, much faster than Raiden, easily crossing the first stump, coming to the first zigzag turn.
With all his force, he stomped his leg hard on the ground, creating a small crater on the spot, as he used the force it created to make a turn like Raiden.
But maybe because it stomped too hard, Woolie created a force so massive that instead of turning in the correct direction, Woolie found himself flying in the air instead, falling on the ground a few dozen meters later, leaving another crater on the ground on impact.
Woolie:??
What just happened? Who is he? Where is he?
Looking at this scene, Raiden didn’t know what to say.
Technically, Woolie followed all the correct steps. But somehow, he still messed it up in a truly Woolie-like fashion.
"Woo Wool Woolie!!" What is this? I did everything you told me to do, human! Why was I flying?
Woolie pointed an accusatory hoof at Raiden.
"How is it my fault? You are too damn strong and using too much force!! Have you seen anyone leaving craters whenever they try to walk?!" Raiden fired back.
"Woolie..." Hearing his words, Woolie felt wronged. Wasn’t being strong enough a good thing?
Raiden knew it wasn’t his fault either. So he didn’t say much and began to guide the young Woolie once again.
Just like that, both man and beast spent the entire day running through the course, tired as a dog by the end of the day.
"Alright Woolie, last time, go!!" Raiden, who was covered in dirt head to toe with his clothes torn in multiple places, spoke in a tired but determined voice.
Woolie, who was covered in dirt, vanished as soon as Raiden finished speaking, disappearing on the spot.
He moved super fast like a blur, easily zigzagging between all the wooden posts, destroying the ground every time he made a turn.
He quickly reached the end point of the first course and made a U-turn, arriving before Raiden in record time.
"20 seconds. Almost 1000 meters in 20 seconds!! That’s a new record, great job, Woolie!!" Raiden shouted happily. It was amazing to see how much he had improved in just a day. Not to mention, he was wearing weighted clothing while training. Who knows how much faster he will be when he takes it off?
"Woolie~" Woolie, hearing the words, also bounced around in place before slumping down on the ground, feeling sore all over.
Raiden similarly slumped on the ground, lying beside Woolie.
While training Woolie, he had run around just as much, if not more.
Both of them watched as the sun set over the horizon, giving rise to the night sky. Looking at the twinkling stars, Raiden suddenly started feeling a little down.
"Hey Woolie?"
"Woo?"
"Do you think I can do it? Can I really do it all?"
"Woo??" What do you mean, do it all?
"I meant this, you know. Like, can I really become stronger? Win This Tournament? Pay Back The Money? Protect Sylvia? Find My Parents? I don’t really know."
Woolie:???
Woolie, who was lying beside him, thought Raiden was speaking gibberish. He barely understood a word he said, just the two words, protect and tournament.
"Woolie Woo Woolie Woo!!" Woolie patted its chest with its tiny arms, its voice confident as ever, as if speaking,
What are you worried about?! I, Emperor Woolie is here! I will protect you and win the tournament! Just wait and watch!! ( 。 •̀ w •́ 。)
Hearing his voice full of confidence, Raiden looked at him and burst into laughter.
"Wahahahaha. I am sorry, you are right. I will count on Great Emperor Woolie to protect me in the future."
"Woo~" Woolie snorted, as if saying of course, leave it all to me.
Looking at the stars above, Raiden started to feel fired up once again.
"Alright, Woolie, after having dinner, let’s get some more training done! What do you say?"
"Woolie!~" Woolie jumped up from the floor, hearing there was dinner to be had and started pushing Raiden.
--------------------------
The next morning, Raiden started hearing a lot of commotion. He frowned and turned around, burying his face in the pillows, trying to go back to sleep once again.
But soon, it grew too large to ignore, making Raiden feel very frustrated. It felt like the whole world was against him?!
"I swear I am going to kill whoever is making this much noise..."
His words trailed off as he looked out of his window, only to find the training course he designed so painstakingly was completely destroyed, and it was now overflooded with all kinds of Terra Beasts, who made it their personal playground.
Looking at the ’deadly’ scene, Raiden only had one thought running in his mind:
’These M*therf*cki—’
