I Just Want to Farm, But My Beasts Keep Evolving!!-Chapter 42: The Mysterious Plan
Looking at the listless Sarah in front of him, Raiden didn’t know what to say.
"Can you tell me what happened?"
"Woolie?"
Both man and beast asked simultaneously.
"Well, it’s nothing much. It’s just that life is a bitch sometimes. And you can’t trust anyone in this world. Everyone in the world will eventually betray you. It’s better to be cut off from society and become a hikikomori. Atleast that way no one will hurt you. We are nothing but a spec of an atom in this vast universe anyways waiting for the embers of life to fade out of existenc—"
SLAM!!
"Girl, stop!! Just... stop for a minute, alright? I don’t want to hear these philosophical dialogues. Can you just tell me what happened in simple words? Why are you thinking about closing the shop??" Raiden slammed the table before looking at Sarah, who seemed mildly annoyed by his interruptions.
"You want to know? Fine! I’ll tell you what happened. My best friend of seven years, the one I thought I could count on, turned on me! When I asked for help, instead of helping me, he went out and sold my information. Due to that, the blockade on my shop is bigger than ever before!! I can’t get a single client, not a single one. And without clients, I have no money to pay you!! I am running out of business! Are you happy now?!"
With an annoyed face, Sarah huffed while talking, her nostrils flaring due to anger.
Seeing this, Raiden silently backed away, giving the woman some time to compose herself.
After a few seconds, seeing her calm down, he approached her once again.
"So, you can’t do business with anyone? How does that work anyway? What exactly is your business? Can’t you solicit customers on the streets? Run marketing ads and promotions?"
Hearing the questions, Sarah could feel the caring emotion in Raiden’s voice, so she decided to answer them patiently. Who knows, maybe he could find a solution for her? She had nothing to lose anyway.
"Well, I mainly deal with two kinds of major businesses. First, I process all the fabric I receive and sell it to major retailers to create clothes and other stuff. The second kind is creating custom clothes for people, but that is something only the rich can afford."
Pausing to take a drag of her cigarette, which caused Woolie to recoil due to the smell, Sarah continued.
"Either way, all the major factories refuse to buy anything from me, and all the major clients also refuse to come to my shop. I have been in a blockade by the whole industry. So even if I run ads or marketing or anything of the sort, chances of me finding clients are slim, if any. I thought if my friend, who is a celebrity Battle Master advertised it, it would attract lots of customers, but it was not meant to be."
A silence descended upon the shop after Sarah finished her words.
Raiden stood there thinking about what she said, while Sarah stared off in the distance, finishing her smoke, thinking about god knows what.
After she finished smoking her first one, she took another one out of the pack and opened her Zippo lighter that was decorated with a phoenix engraving with a click.
Just as she was about to light it up, she heard a shout.
"Wait!!"
Pausing, she took a look at Raiden, who opened his eyes and was staring directly at her.
"Well, I might have an idea that can help you." Raiden said cautiously.
"Really?! What idea?!" Sarah seemed to perk up after hearing this.
She leaned forward and grasped both of Raiden’s hands in hers while staring directly into Raiden’s eyes.
"If you can help me save this business, I’ll be forever indebted to you. I’ll even do whatever you want."
Feeling the close contact on his hands and her eyes staring directly into his while she spoke such suggestive words, it made Raiden really flustered as his face turned red.
"Ahem, ahem, what are you thinking, big sister? I’m not that kind of person. I’m still sixteen, you know. It’s a crime. You will end up in jail because of it. Though...if you really insist, I will not tell anyone about it and sacrifice my body for it..."
Sarah blinked before looking at the shameless kid in front of her, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
Manoeuvring her hand expertly, she clasped his cheek with her nimble fingers, before pulling it with her full force.
"You little brat!! Have you read too many of those K*ndle Books recently?? So young, yet your head is already so full of nonsense. Get your head out of the clouds and obediently tell me what your plan is."
Woolie, who was watching all this from the side, found it all so interesting. So he started cheering for the winning side.
"Woolie!!" Go, big sister!! Teach that smelly guy a lesson!!
Feeling the pain on his cheek, Raiden winced, glaring at the traitor first, before turning towards Sarah, and putting on a pitiful expression on his face.
"I’m really sorry, sister Sarah, forgive me. I won’t joke like that again." Raiden had to beg for over half a minute before she let go of him.
Even though he didn’t feel much pain, and the soft sensation on his face was quite nice, it was really an embarassing position to be in.
"Hmm, alright, I’ll let you go for now. But stop thinking about this kind of nonsense. You are too young for it. Now tell me, what is the plan??" Satisfied, Sarah let go of him before continuing to ask with a serious expression on her face.
Raiden also adopted a serious expression after hearing the question as he started talking.
"Well, it’s like this....We can.... Abolish the....Use the opportunity to....and that’s basically it. What do you think?"
Sarah fell silent after hearing his plan. It was one of the most absurd plans she had heard yet. But when she saw his face, it radiated nothing but confidence.
After pausing for a while, she opened her mouth once again.
"And this plan of yours...if I want to make it a reality, I have to sell you my shop, is that right?" Sarah questioned hesitantly.
"Life often enough is not as easy as you think. If you want to gain something, you must lose something. I am sure that you don’t want to close the shop of your dreams, do you, big sister Sarah? Well, what do you say??"
Hearing Raiden’s bewitching voice, Sarah faltered for a moment before she opened her mouth hesitantly...
"I..."
