I Just Want to Farm, But My Beasts Keep Evolving!!-Chapter 46: Shameless Marketing
BANG!!
Woolie blew a python away with an attack, ending the match.
"They have done it once again, folks!! The one-hit knockout Woolie once again proves to be unbeatable, maintaining their record of ending all fights with a single hit, securing their place in the Top 128!!"
"I knew they could do it!! I was rooting for that good-looking little brother from the start. He will absloutely will sweep the competition this time!! Just wait and watch!" Hermione huffed.
Poke. Poke.
"Hey Sylvia, is that your brother on the stage? I almost didn’t recognise him. He looks so handsome today. I never knew he was that strong. What do you think of me as your sister-in-law?" A teasing voice sounded near Sylvia.
"Scram, you bish. He is not for you. Don’t even think about it. Plus, I didn’t know he was so strong myself." Sylvia muttered absentmindedly amongst the crowd.
Today was a holiday, and when she heard that her brother was competing, her first thought was panic. He was a weak and below-average student with no strong points. How can he compare to those rich brats with personal trainers and unlimited resources?
But he and Woolie surprised her, absolutely dominating the first round. She had to visit him and give him a piece of her mind about why didn’t he inform her sooner.
"With the end of this round one, we will take a short break and continue with the top 128 round until there is only one contestant left. But don’t go anywhere yet, ladies and gentlemen, for we have secured an exclusive interview with Raiden and the adorable Woolie."
Hearing the words of the anchor, Sylvia stopped in her tracks as an unsettling feeling started to develop inside her stomach.
"Raiden, is that correct? How do you feel so far about the competition? And what do you think about other competitors? Do you think you can win?" Hermione put a mic in front of Raiden, who looked like he was just waiting for this.
"Ahem, thank you for your kind words, beauty. I am actually quite confident in my chances of winning this competition." Raiden proclaimed boldly.
"Ahahaha. You are quite a confident one, aren’t you? I do have one burning question to ask, though." Harry replied.
"I know what you want to ask!" Raiden knew it was the opportunity he was waiting for and snatched the mic from Harry’s hands.
Seeing this, the uneasy feeling inside Sylvia grew even larger. She had a hunch that he was about to do something very embarrassing.
He climbed the stage and started addressing the crowd.
"Everyone, I know what the burning question is on your mind, and the one you guys desperately want to ask. You want to know how I got so strong, right? And how I was able to train a Woolie to be this strong? I know you all have burning curiosity. And the answer is..."
Sylvia’s inner instinct screamed at her, to stop her brother and save herself from the embarrassment, but it was too late.
Bang!!
Raiden pulled out a large banner from an interspacial ring he got from gods knows where, sticking it in the ground. It was a teal coloured banner with golden stitching on all its borders, making it look premium. In the centre of it was a picture of Woolie standing dominantly, creating a contrast with its cute image, and in golden, stylish fonts, it read:
Sarah & Woolie Textiles!! The Best Bespoke Brand Run By International Award Winning Sarah Clearwater!! OPENING BONUS 50 % OFF!!
He stood proudly in front of it, holding the mic in his hands.
Woolie, who had been sitting by his feet, looked up at the banner with wide eyes. Then, at the crowd. Then back at the banner.
"Woolie~!!" (maximum Emperor energy)
He sat up straighter than he ever had in his life.
"Sarah & Woolie Textiles!! That’s right, folks!! It is all thanks to the custom clothes I got from Sarah & Woolie textiles that made me from an ugly duckling to a model!! It was also these clothes that motivated me and let me give 100% of my focus towards training and battling!! Visit now and enjoy an exclusive discount of 50% for the next 10 days!! Not to mention—"
Raiden discovered his mic had lost its power. He looked downwards to see Harry climbing the stage with a storming expression on his face, and with the media team in the distance, turning off all speakers.
Sylvia, who was standing in the audience, covered her face with her hands. Suddenly, she wasn’t so keen on visiting her brother anymore.
"Your big brother certainly has some unique...style and flair to himself," Iris commented dryly.
"Hehehe, he is so interesting. I am even more interested in becoming your sister-in-law now. Let’s go and meet him." Cindy chirped while grinning.
"Ugh...you know what, let’s wait a little bit more. He must be busy preparing for the rest of the tournament, yes. Let’s not disturb him anymore!!" Before her friends could react, Sylvia grabbed her friends and bolted, not giving them a chance to protest.
Meanwhile, Raiden got rid of Harry after a lot of effort, promising not to pull a stunt like this again. As for whether he keeps this promise or not, only he knew about it. One thing is for sure though, he had gotten people talking about it.
Just as he reached the contestant’s area, he found himself at the center of attention as everyone turned to look at him with various expressions on their faces. They all were the top 128 contestants, who reached here through various means. Raiden was vaguely familiar with at least a third of them from his class.
"Wow bro, you were very bold out there. I have never seen anyone use the competition for something like this since that incident. You are not even afraid after doing it, mad respect." Toby ran up to him, giving him a thumbs-up. Somehow, this bragging guy also made it through the first round.
"Incident? What incident?" Raiden asked cluelessly.
"You mean you don’t know about it?? Are we the alumni of the same school?" Toby asked in a flabbergasted tone.
"Stop with the bullshit and just tell me, what incident?" Raiden said with a blunt look on his face.
"Well, last year, someone had the same idea as you did, and he promoted someone’s business after taking money from them. Miss Yuna, who recommended him, found out about it and felt embarrassed. So she hung him upside down on a tree and beat his arse in front of the whole school. His wails were so loud and haunting that some people had nightmares about them. The word is, he wasn’t even able to sit down for three days due to pain."
Raiden’s face had gone a little pale as he listened to the story.
"And you told me that Miss Yuna recommended you this time, yet you still pulled the same stunt as the last person, respect, bro respect. I admire your self-sacrificial attitude for money. Don’t worry, I will make sure to record it when you are hung and beaten later today."
Hearing this painful story, Raiden struggled to speak as he almost started to regret his actions today. Almost.
