Chapter 21: It All Worked Out In The End

"Uarghhhhh!!!!"

All five members of the Six Eyes barely had any chance to scream before their bodies were doused in radiation and they burned to death.

Their agonizing screams reached Richard’s ears, and he shuddered at the sight.

The chaos... the death... the destruction...

... It was far more than he bargained for.

He couldn’t see the mushroom cloud from where he sat in the room, but he felt the severe impact of its destructive might. The entire cave even began to collapse, causing everything around him to break apart as the Commoner Vampires died one after the other.

Only Richard was unharmed.

Why?

Well, it had to do with the item that had been used to prevent his escape.

Somehow, it prevented the initial blast and leftover radiation from even reaching him. This made it so that he was safe from the devastation he had wrought.

But Richard was quite confused.

’I thought the summoning failed. Is this the result of something else? No... based on the sound and the effects, I’m sure it was a Nuke. But how?’

Richard was self-taught and sheltered for most of his life, so there were many things he didn’t know about.

That included the concept of Lag.

Since Lag rarely happened, it wasn’t that strange that he didn’t know of it.

He simply thought the summoning had failed.

’T-then... Does that mean I can actually bring a Nuke into this world? That’s insane!’

Once again, Richard was shown just how powerful he was.

The Little Boy Nuke he summoned was just one of the many kinds of Atomic Bombs he knew about. In fact, compared to the bombs in the upper tiers, Little Boy was—like the name—not very impressive.

It was also criticized as highly inefficient.

Why?

Despite its destruction, only about 1.5 percent of the 64 kg of Uranium actually underwent nuclear fission.

And sure, the Blast Radius was quite incredible, but it wasn’t that crazy compared to others.

Richard had actually summoned Little Boy as a test run.

If he truly wanted to go all-out, there was the Tsar Bomb—though even that would be overkill, now that he thought about it.

’Who are my enemies? Why would I need to resort to such a thing...’

He shook his head and looked around him.

As it turned out, he was now outside the cave, thanks to the great collapse, and he was surrounded by all kinds or rubble. However, by a stroke of luck, the only item protecting him from harm remained in front of him.

Perhaps this was one of the effects of this Category S Mystic Object, but Richard attributed its continued effect to his own luck.

’I don’t know when it’ll stop working, so I should probably summon an anti-radiation suit.’

Richard wasted no time in doing this.

Thankfully, the Category S Mystic Object did not interfere with his Principal Disposition.

If it did, he would be so screwed.

He succeeded in bringing forth on the bright yellow and black suit, and after struggling for some time, he finally put it on. Thanks to its protective layers that shielded his body, as well as the mask that covered his face, he was completely protected from the fallout.

Right at that instant, several pieces of debris began to scatter around him under the pressure of the collapse, and many rocks flew everywhere.

One in particular hit the Category S Mystic Object in a rather inconspicuous location.

This deactivated the item immediately, freeing Richard from its hold.

"Ah... I’m free." He smiled, picking up the Mystic Object. "Not only am I safe from the blast thanks to this suit, but I even secured myself a very rare and expensive object."

Richard was almost at a loss for words.

Just moments ago, he was in a rather precarious situation, yet everything turned out this way.

’It all worked out in the end. I really am lucky...’

He began to walk away from the rubble when he noticed many shiny things just some distance from his position.

"Are those...?"

Running towards the many lights and only stopping once he realized what they were, Richard gasped at the magnificence of his find.

"These are the treasures of those kidnappers! They must have been protected by some kind of barrier, considering how intact they are."

Since some of these items were Mystic Objects, it made sense.

’But how am I going to store all of these? I don’t have a Principal Disposition that allows me to shrink objects or create a subspace, right?’ As he was thinking about this, one of the many items in the pile rolled over and fell next to his feet.

It must have been blown by the wind, but the coincidence told Richard that this couldn’t be such a simple matter.

He picked up the object and observed it properly.

It was a box that resembled a small treasure chest. The moment he held it, the item grew larger until it became as massive as a proper treasure chest.

"Whoa!" Richard opened up the chest and found it empty.

Although he was a little disappointed that there was no treasure in the box, he Richard suddenly realized something very important.

’I could place all these treasures in the chest!’

The box had Mystical Characteristics, which meant it was a Mystic Object in its own right. Since it could change its size, that meant it could likely contain many items at once.

"Why don’t I test its limits?"

With this thought in mind, Richard stared at the pile of treasures in front of him.

Placing all of these items into a single chest would take all day.

The task was too daunting for him.

’If only I had some kind of assistance in the matter...’ He sighed to himself, folding his hands in quiet dissatisfaction and dread.

Then, at that moment, something fell from the sky.

It landed a short distance from him, and it was covered in a tattered robe. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

After staring at the ’thing’ for some time, Richard quickly recognized that it was actually a person, and judging by their movements, they were still alive.

"You are...?"

The tattered individual froze for a moment, but then slowly rose from the ground.

Their tattered robe fell to the ground, revealing pure white hair and blue eyes that seemed to radiate an ethereal kind of beauty. They had a clear, almost androgynous face, with a delicate body that oozed femininity.

It was unintentional, but Richard stared at this person’s chest and found two bulging lumps present, and the evident physique told him this wasn’t a man.

The woman before him was covered in rags.

Portions of her naked skin were shamefully displayed before him, and she could only barely hide her private parts while shamefully kneeling in his presence.

"I... I was not aware of the kind of power you possessed..." The woman, who appeared to be in her late teens or twenty at most, shivered while speaking. "Although we belonged to the same group, I only recently joined. I wasn’t in support of their plan from the beginning... It’s the truth, I swear!"

Despite hearing all of this, Richard was still speechless.

He simply stared at the woman blankly.

This caused her to get even more anxious, so she bowed before him and pleaded—hoping for even a sliver of mercy.

Desperation clung to her voice as she shouted with all her might.

"Please spare my life. I’ll do anything you want!"
