The Dracolich roared, unleashing another wave of necrotic energy that slammed into the fiery constructs, extinguishing two of them. The remaining constructs turned their attention to the undead dragon, but the Dragon Hawk intervened, tearing through them with ferocious speed.
With the battlefield in chaos, Horizon saw his chance. He activated his speed-enhancing skill, vanishing from sight and reappearing behind Cedrick. This time, Cedrick wasn’t fast enough. Horizon’s blade nicked his side, drawing blood.
Cedrick staggered, his composure slipping. "You—!"
Horizon didn’t let him finish. He pressed the attack, his movements a blur as he forced Cedrick onto the defensive. The mage tried to cast another spell, but Horizon was relentless, disrupting his focus with each strike.

"You’re running out of tricks," Horizon said, his voice cold. "Face it—you’ve already lost."
Cedrick’s sentinels, battered and broken, struggled to regroup. The Dracolich and Dragon Hawk worked in tandem, tearing through their ranks with devastating efficiency. One by one, the sentinels fell, their enchanted cores shattering under the combined assault.
Cedrick, bleeding and desperate, activated his last artifact. A massive, shadowy form began to materialize behind him—a demon bound by chains, its glowing red eyes promising destruction.
Horizon didn’t flinch. He raised his blade, his aura flaring as he prepared to face the new threat. "You’re really pulling out all the stops, huh?"
Cedrick smirked, blood staining his teeth. "If I’m going down, I’m taking you with me."
But before the demon could fully manifest, the Dragon Hawk dove once more, its talons glowing with golden light. It struck the artifact powering the summoning, shattering it in a blinding explosion of light and shadow.
Cedrick screamed as the backlash of the broken artifact sent him sprawling. Horizon approached him, his blade at the ready.
"It’s over," Horizon said, his voice calm but firm.
Cedrick glared up at him, defiance flickering in his eyes. But with his artifacts destroyed and his mana depleted, he had no choice but to concede.
The onlookers couldn’t believe their eyes at the turn of events. What had initially seemed like a lopsided battle was now shifting dramatically, and at the center of it all was Horizon—a seemingly ordinary, unremarkable player.
A nameless face in a sea of competitors, Horizon had cornered Cedrick, a renowned figure notorious for his mastery of spells and have access to artifcats that others could only dream of.
However, just when it seemed like victory was within reach, the tide turned once more.
One of Cedrick’s sentinels, an enormous construct of black steel and glowing crimson runes, moved with surprising agility for its size. Its massive hand scooped Cedrick up, cradling him protectively in its palm as the other sentinels repositioned themselves to counter Horizon’s dragons.
Two sentinels broke away to shield their master, placing themselves between Cedrick and the advancing Dracolich. Meanwhile, the other two redirected their focus to the soaring Giant Dragon Hawk, engaging the majestic creature in a fierce aerial battle.
Horizon, standing amidst the chaos, narrowed his eyes. His Dracolich’s eyes blazed as it lashed out with its massive skeletal tail, striking one of the sentinels and sending a resounding clang echoing through the battlefield. The sentinel staggered but held firm, its armor dented but not broken.
The other sentinel retaliated with a swing of its massive blade, the air around it humming with the sheer force of the strike. The Dracolich parried with one of its bony claws, the impact shaking the ground beneath them.
Above, the Dragon Hawk screeched, its golden feathers glinting like sunlight. It dived and rolled, narrowly avoiding the sentinel’s giant spear thrust. With a powerful flap of its wings, the Dragon Hawk unleashed a shockwave, scattering debris and momentarily blinding its opponents. But the sentinels, unfazed, advanced with mechanical precision, their movements synchronized as they pressed the attack.
Cedrick, perched safely in the palm of his sentinel, sneered down at Horizon. "You think you’ve won? You think you’ve cornered me?" He laughed, his voice dripping with mockery. "As long as my sentinels stand guard, you’ll never get to me. They’re indestructible, their power unparalleled!"
Horizon remained calm, his expression unreadable. He tightened his grip on his blade, his eyes flicking between the sentinels and Cedrick. He understood why they had left Cedrick to guard the flag—he possessed the artifacts capable of defending it.
However, Horizon wasn’t perturbed because he knew that fact and he was prepared for it.
With a calm yet chilling voice, he replied, "How long do you think they’ll last?"
Cedrick’s smirk faltered slightly, but he quickly masked his uncertainty with a boastful tone. "My artifacts are unmatched! Their effects will last long enough to see you and your creatures fall."
Horizon tilted his head, his gaze sharp as a blade. "Artifacts have limits. Their effects wear off. When they do, you’ll be facing me, my Dracolich, and my Dragon Hawk—without your precious sentinels to hide behind."
Cedrick’s face twisted in frustration. He knew Horizon was right. Artifacts, no matter how powerful, had a finite duration. Still, he refused to let doubt cloud his judgment. With a wave of his hand, he commanded the sentinel to move further back, putting more distance between himself and Horizon.
The battle raged on, each clash echoing across the battlefield like thunder. The Dracolich roared, its skeletal maw unleashing a torrent of dark flames that engulfed the two sentinels blocking its path. The flames licked at their armor, melting the runes etched into their surfaces. One sentinel faltered, its movements becoming sluggish as the magic sustaining it began to wane.
The Dragon Hawk, high above, used its agility to its advantage. It weaved between the sentinels’ attacks, its claws tearing through the enchanted steel of their armor. With a powerful dive, it targeted the sentinel holding Cedrick, aiming to rip him from its grasp. The sentinel raised its free arm to block the attack, but the Dragon Hawk’s talons left deep gashes in the metal, sparks flying as it screeched in defiance.
