Chapter 52: Chapter 52: The Wyrm Hunt!

The Grand Army marched down the long, empty avenue of the Silent Kingdom.

Lucifer rode at the front, his Nightmare Steed hovering inches above the black slush left by the Glacial Hollows.

The multiplied Starfire Aura radiating from his hand pushed back the suffocating cold of the Absolute Zero curse, keeping his entire column perfectly warm and fully healed.

They reached the massive, glowing blue gates of the inner palace.

The gates were hundreds of feet tall, carved directly into a sheer cliff of solid glacier ice. There were no handles. There were no visible hinges.

Elara rode up beside Lucifer. She leveled her silver spear at the towering ice structure. "It is sealed shut. The magic here is incredibly dense.

A standard breaching charge will not scratch it."

"I am not using a charge," Lucifer said.

He didn’t dismount. He simply raised his right hand.

He channeled his Void Arcanist magic. He didn’t use Gravity Crush to smash the ice; he used the Void to completely destabilize the physical space occupying the gates.

"Void Singularity," Lucifer commanded.

A microscopic black hole materialized directly in the center of the massive ice doors.

The intense gravity did not pull the doors inward. It ripped the structure of the ice apart from the inside out.

The loud sound of a thousand cracking glaciers echoed across the ruined city.

The fifty-foot-thick doors of solid ice spiderwebbed with millions of deep fractures.

Lucifer closed his fist. The singularity vanished.

Without the crushing gravity holding the broken ice in place, the massive doors burst outward in a violent blast, sending shards of blue ice flying everywhere.

[System: Obstacle Destroyed.]

Lucifer spurred his Nightmare Steed forward through the newly created breach.

The inside of the palace was vast, like a giant vaulted cavern. The walls, ceiling, and floor were all covered in smooth, flawless blue ice.

But it wasn’t empty. It was a nest.

Dozens of huge, deep craters were carved into the ice floor. Inside each crater curled a nightmarish creature.

They were Glacial Wyrms: juvenile dragons. They were fifty feet long, covered in thick, diamond-hard, pale blue scales.

They did not have wings, but their bodies were packed with dense, explosive muscle.

The sudden rush of heat from Lucifer’s Starfire Aura washed over the craters.

The Wyrms woke up.

[System Warning: Apex Predators Engaged!]

[Enemy: Glacial Wyrms (Level 45 - Elite)]

[Quantity: 50]

[Trait: Immune to Cold Magic. Highly resistant to physical damage.]

A chorus of deafening, high-pitched screeches filled the cavern. The fifty Glacial Wyrms uncurled from their nests.

Their massive jaws snapped open, revealing rows of translucent, razor-sharp teeth. Their eyes burned with the same icy blue light as the corrupted citizens outside, but these were not cursed humans. These were true monsters.

"They are awake," Sarah breathed, her starlight aura pulsing nervously behind the Dragoons.

"Dragoons, advance," Lucifer ordered, his voice ringing with absolute authority. "Phalanx formation. Do not let them breach the line."

The Aether-Steel Dragoons hovered forward. They formed a tight, horizontal wall of black steel and crackling blue lances, completely blocking the entrance to the cavern.

The Dragoons were the perfect counter to the Wyrms. Being inorganic, the machines felt no fear.

They did not suffer from the dragons’ terrifying presence.

The fifty Glacial Wyrms charged.

They moved with terrifying speed, their massive bodies slithering over the smooth ice like massive serpents. They opened their jaws and unleashed their breath attacks simultaneously.

A massive, sweeping wave of concentrated, liquid frost erupted from the charging Wyrms. It was a blizzard of absolute cold, dense enough to freeze a man’s blood in his veins instantly.

The frost wave slammed into the Dragoon phalanx.

It did absolutely nothing.

The Starfire Aura radiating from Lucifer’s hand was multiplied ten thousand times. It acted as an impenetrable sun.

The liquid frost hit the edge of the silver dome and instantly vaporized into harmless steam.

"Fire," Lucifer commanded.

The Dragoons lowered their shoulder-mounted aether-cannons.

Blinding streams of volatile blue energy ripped through the steam. The sheer volume of firepower was staggering. The aether-blasts slammed into the front line of charging Wyrms.

The diamond-hard scales of the juvenile dragons held for a fraction of a second before shattering under the intense heat and kinetic force.

The Wyrms shrieked in agony as the aether-rounds punched deep, burning holes into their thick flesh.

Five Wyrms in the front of the charge were completely vaporized, their bodies exploding into showers of blue blood and shattered scales.

But fifty Level 45 Elites were not going to die from a single volley.

The surviving Wyrms charged through the aether-blasts. They slammed into the Dragoon phalanx with the force of runaway siege engines.

CRASH.

The impact shook the entire cavern.

Several Dragoons were violently thrown backward, their heavy black armor dented and sparking. The Wyrms snapped their massive jaws, trying to tear the heads off the mechanical centaurs.

The Dragoons did not panic. They automatically switched to close-quarters combat.

The black machines thrust their ten-foot-long lances forward. The tips of the weapons, crackling with highly concentrated blue lightning, pierced the thick hides of the Wyrms.

The electrical discharge detonated inside the dragons’ bodies, causing violent explosions of shattered bone.

Lucifer did not sit idle on his Nightmare Steed. He was here to farm.

In his past life, the hearts of Glacial Wyrms were considered priceless alchemical ingredients. They contained pure, uncorrupted cryogenic mana. Lucifer needed those hearts for the final phase of his plan to awaken the Sovereign.

He drew his longsword. The Carnage Core on his hip flared, projecting a violent, ruby-red light that cut through the steam and chaos of the melee.

"Elara," Lucifer said smoothly. "Take the right flank. Do not let them flank the machines."

"Understood," Elara replied. Her golden wings flared. She launched herself off her Nightmare Steed, gripping her celestial spear.

She dove directly into a cluster of three Wyrms that were attempting to slither around the edge of the Dragoon formation, her holy fire incinerating their scales upon impact.

Lucifer activated the Zephyr’s Grace Emblem.

He vanished from his saddle. He using pure speed, appearing directly on the back of a massive Glacial Wyrm currently wrestling with two Dragoons.

The Warlord landed heavily on the dragon’s thick, armored neck.

The Wyrm thrashed violently, trying to throw him off.

Lucifer ignored the movement. He drove his Warlord boot down, channeling a microscopic pulse of Gravity Crush directly into his heel.

The gravity pinned the Wyrm’s neck to the ice floor with a sickening CRUNCH.

Before the beast could recover, Lucifer brought his longsword down in a brutal, two-handed strike.

The True Damage of the Carnage Core flared. The crimson blade sliced cleanly through the Wyrm’s diamond-hard scales, thick neck muscle, and heavy spine as if they did not exist.

The massive head detached cleanly. Blue blood sprayed across the ice.

[Elite Enemy Eliminated: Glacial Wyrm]

[Carnage Core charging... 15,000 / 100,000]

Lucifer did not wait for the body to collapse. He activated Void Step, teleporting ten feet sideways to land on the back of another charging Wyrm.

He moved like a red light. He bounced from dragon to dragon, his sword flashing with absolute, unblockable lethality.

The True Damage enchantment made the Level 45 Elite monsters as fragile as paper.

He aimed precisely. He decapitated them, leaving their massive chests entirely intact.

SLASH.

Another Wyrm fell, its head sliding across the smooth floor.

SLASH.

A third dropped, its massive body convulsing in its death throes.

The battle was loud, but perfectly controlled. The Dragoons held the line, absorbing the massive physical impacts and unleashing continuous volleys of aether-fire and lightning strikes.

Elara secured the flank, her golden spear leaving trails of burning celestial magic in the air.

Within five minutes, the shrieking stopped.

The last Glacial Wyrm, its body riddled with aether-burns, collapsed under the combined lightning strikes of six Dragoons.

Silence returned to the massive ice cavern, broken only by the hum of the magitech thrusters and the heavy breathing of the Star-Kissed Elves in the rear.

[System: Area Secured.]

[All Hostile Entities Eliminated.]

Lucifer deactivated the speed emblem. He stood in the center of the carnage, his dark armor streaked with blue dragon blood.

The Carnage Core at his hip pulsed steadily, having fed on the high-level death energy of fifty elite beasts.

"Secure the perimeter," Lucifer ordered the Dragoons.

The machines immediately fanned out, their blue visors scanning the dark corners of the massive cavern for any remaining threats.

Elara landed softly beside Lucifer. She flicked her silver spear, shaking off the blue blood.

"They fought like wild animals," Elara said, looking at the massive, decapitated bodies littering the floor.

"There was no intelligence behind their attacks. Only hunger and rage."

"They are juveniles," Lucifer explained. He sheathed his longsword. "They woke up hungry. They are nothing compared to a true Royal Dragon."

Lucifer walked over to the nearest decapitated Wyrm. The massive body was still twitching slightly.

He didn’t use a knife to extract the loot. He placed his iron gauntlet directly over the center of the Wyrm’s massive chest. He channeled a tiny fraction of Void Arcanist magic into his palm.

"Gravity Crush," Lucifer whispered.

He didn’t crush the beast. He used the Void to violently pull the Wyrm apart.

The thick scales, bone, and muscle of the dragon’s chest ripped open, exposing the massive, glowing blue heart beating weakly inside.

Lucifer reached in and pulled the heart out. It was the size of a barrel, freezing to the touch and pulsing with raw cryogenic mana.

[Item Acquired: Glacial Wyrm Heart]

[Tier: Epic Crafting Material / Catalyst]

He tossed the massive organ into his Dimensional Vault.

Lucifer moved quickly through the cavern, repeating the process on every single intact Wyrm carcass.

The Void magic effortlessly ripped the chests open, allowing him to harvest the hearts with brutal efficiency.

Within minutes, he had collected forty-five pristine Glacial Wyrm Hearts.

"Why are you harvesting their organs?" Sarah asked. She rode her white mare up to Lucifer, carefully avoiding the puddles of blue blood.

"They are not just organs, Oracle," Lucifer said. He stood up, wiping a smear of blue blood off his gauntlet.

"They are highly concentrated batteries of cryogenic magic. And I am going to need a massive surge of power to force the Sovereign out of her hibernation."

He looked toward the far end of the cavern.

A massive, grand staircase of polished blue ice led up to a towering set of double doors. The doors were not frozen shut; they were carved from a single, flawless sheet of sapphire.

Behind those doors lay the Throne Room of Eternal Ice.

"The sentinels are dead. The guard dogs are butchered," Lucifer announced. He summoned his Nightmare Steed. "The Queen has run out of shields."

He vaulted into the saddle.

"Elara, Sarah. You are with me," Lucifer ordered. He pointed to the Dragoons and the Arch-Seraphs. "The army holds this cavern. Nobody enters the Throne Room but us."

Lucifer spurred his Nightmare Steed.

The beast galloped up the polished ice staircase. The Warlord, the Fallen Valkyrie, and the Star-Touched Oracle ascended toward the sapphire doors.

The temperature dropped again, pushing the absolute limits of the multiplied Starfire Aura.

Lucifer did not slow down. He drew his longsword, ready to introduce the old world to the new Warlord.
