Chapter 14: 14:First sight

Lilith walked back to the camp her mind unable to get rid of the pretty male elf she had met.

He had been the first elf of any kind to talk to her so casually. Except for her close confidants, everyone who even saw her would shake and try to avoid her.

It was a refreshing thing to be seen as normal despite her covering him with her killing intent.

At that time Lilith had decided to go for a walk and maybe get a glimpse of her young husband but she had stumbled upon Atheline by accident.

When she was passing near the pool, she had been attracted by the white hair floating on the water, a distinct smell of flowers floating off him, and into the forest.

She had at first restrained her killing intent and approached him silently but he had been completely oblivious to her approach fully asleep.

She had sat there for almost an hour just staring at his face before waking him up.

It irked her that he was that careless, what if it was a killer, what if it was another woman just like her? 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

’Maybe he needs my protection, he’s too oblivious and weak for the world’

That had been the thought that passed through her mind but she suppressed it.

She was rational enough to know she couldn’t let some man influence her mind. He might have a bad personality or be a pervert for all she knew.

She decided to wake him up.

Lilith knew that wasn’t her betroth but the sight of him had already mesmerised her. To her meeting him felt like fate, maybe the moon goddess was showing her the direction to go.

But what made her hesitate was his family. Though she could kidnap him, since he was much weaker than she, she wanted the world to know he belonged to her.

She had met Helmer, the little things’ father, and he was a good man. She owed him a favor after he had saved her when she was young while running away from one of her brothers.

At that time she had been painfully weak, too weak to even compete for the throne. He had found her at the elf border and taken her in before she eventually ran away after a day or two.

She had met him on the battlefield but the man didn’t remember her, she didn’t care at that time and now her little weakness was coming to bite her back.

She contemplated throwing her gratitude away since she had already burnt her brother alive but she wanted to try something else before she went for the extreme.

Her tent was pushed open at that moment and one of her female generals walked in. She was tall, built with more muscles than she could ever want, and had cut her brown hair to the skull.

"What do you want, Gaih?" She asked her evenly and leaned back in her chair.

"Where were you? You almost gave me a heart attack. Do you want to start a war or something your majesty?"

Giah had been one of the few people who had stuck by her and helped her kill her siblings during the coup. She could be considered somewhat of a friend to her.

"What if I want to?" She answered coldly.

"You should have said earlier, I should start organising the troops ..." She said excitedly but Lilith raised her hand cutting her off.

"Are you stupid?....No.... I’m here to get married. "

"But your majesty, why do you want to get married all of a sudden? Didn’t you say men are nothing but weaklings that should be trampled on and killed if they ever stepped out of line and..."

Lilith wanted to take back her stupid words. Who knew she would meet someone so intriguing, a man at that.

"That is true but.." she waved Giah over," I seem to have found an exception.."

"What!" Giah shouted in shock," Did you see your husband your highness.?"

Lilith chuckled inwardly.

"Yes... He’s pretty.."

"All high elves are pretty.."

"Shut it. Give me some advice, I want to get closer to him how do I do that?" She whispered low enough for only Giah to hear.

Giah’s eyes widened before a smile curved on her face.

"My mother kidnapped my father and married him by force, since elves are delicate, you can just make him get used to your presence then trick him into marrying you. He won’t be able to escape you.... hey wait you majesty, aren’t you already getting married why.."

"You can leave."

Lilith was left in her thoughts. Get him used to her presence right, that wasn’t so bad. Since he was talking to her normally, he must have already gotten used to her.

Maybe he might be in love with her. She was confident enough in her beauty.

Now the only thing that remained in her plan was to get married and lock him in her palace. How pretty he would make the dark palace look.

’I should start preparing for our room first, no i should see what his room looks like then I can make the same one. That way he would never leave me.’

Lilith, the always cold ruler, giggled to herself like a young girl in love for the first time.

She couldn’t wait for her first meeting tomorrow.

....

The next day, Lilith left the camp with a small bounce in her step as she hurried to their meeting place.

The small sunfire crystal bangle was worn in her hand and it shone with the sunlight as it released Aether in the air.

Today she would get closer to him and make him addicted to her then marry him.

In worst case scenario she would just kidnap him, favors be damn.

She burst into the clearing with a smile on her face and froze. All the critters and birds ran the moment they saw her but her attention was on the silent pool.

There was no one there, he didn’t come, he was supposed to come and see her. Why was he not here?

’I should wait, maybe I came earlier than expected.’

She sat in a tree and looked towards the pool as she waited.

Two hours passed, and he didn’t come. Lilith took a deep breath and turned her attention to the elf capital peaking through the tall tree.

’I should go see him myself, he might have just forgotten or be busy.’

She restrained her killing intent and entered the forest the way he had left, following his footsteps.

His traces were still in the forest and the small smell of flowers still clung in the air.

Dark elves were good at tracking and finding him in the large city wasn’t going to be hard.
