I reincarnated as an elf .......and married the yandere villainess.-Chapter 32:Draken
A blue and green vine snake was cut in half before it reached its target. Its body flopped on the forest floor before it stopped.
Atheline leaned against the tree and wiped the blood from the blade. Despite the surroundings, he had managed to remain clean without a speck of dirt on his robes.
He looked to his right his eyes narrowing slightly.
’Something’s coming ’
The thought passed through him as he straightened himself up his face serious.
The ground trembled from the faint rumble going through it.
Atheline leaped up and held onto a tree branch before another burst of wind sent him up near the top of the tree.
Birds scattered as the ground continued to tremble, then he saw it. Far in the distance, something massive moved.
"Okay.. that is not the wolf I was waiting for," he said.
His gaze sharpened.
Far ahead was a dark stretch of forest where the trees thinned to reveal the murky undergrowth beneath them.
Water.
From the looks of it, it didn’t look habitable at all but the water was vibrating with each rumble from whatever was inside.
The water was jumping up high at a central position in the middle of the pond.
Atheline’s body went on high alert, unlike the first time, when he was pretty confident in his success, he couldn’t measure the monster’s grade.
He moved towards the swamp and came to a stop a few trees away.
The rumbles had gone quiet and the swamp had returned to its serene ugly countenance as though nothing existed.
Atheline turned to leave, not wanting to disturb whatever was in the swamp when his luck proved to have left him.
Across the clearing, three high elves stumbled out. Two high elf soldiers and one noble. They all seemed to have gone through the wringer with how in shambles they looked.
"HELP..." The noble shouted frantically as he tried to keep up with his guards who seemed to have forgotten their duty.
"Tsk," Atheline clicked his tongue in irritation when he saw this.
At that moment, Atheline saw the swamp move just a little bit before the ground underneath the three shifted.
It then exploded outwards.
Water and mud erupted as something massive shot out of the ground mouth-first, opened too wide.
The Mire Drake.
It clumped down on the slowest elf, which was the noble, before another scream for help shot out of him.
Blood and cracked bones splattered everywhere, turning the small part of the pond into a red pool.
It looked ominous in the dark brown waters of the swamp.
His remaining parts were dragged away into the murk before the creature came back up again a few moments later, asking for more.
The Drake was enormous.
It stood low to the ground, its body thick with muscles that undulated with every move. The scales were made of moss plus whatever was inside the rotten swamp.
Its sharp spiked tail lashed behind him clearing the roots and water.
The remaining two elves froze. Atheline didn’t even care about them.
The two had abandoned their own master and were clearly inexperienced in battle, given how scared they looked.
He had given everyone the option of not joining the hunt.
Atheline nocked his arrow and shot, hitting the Draken’s foot.
The frozen guards got out of their thoughts as they looked around in confusion since Atheline was under the tree covers.
They ran into the forest their shouts loud enough to deafen but the Drake had its attention on its new attacker.
The drake lunged towards Atheline at a speed too fast for its body.
Atheline nocked three arrows.
The arrows cut through the air wind aiding their directions. One hit the neck, the other hit the nose while the remaining one aimed for the eyes but missed.
The arrows all fell to the ground not having caused any damage except to anger the drake. The skin was almost impenetrable.
Wind collected under Atheline’s feet before it launched him forward, he moved through the clearing in a blur, firing arrows as he ran head to head with the oncoming drake.
Their eyes met in this weird, bizarre moment of clarity.
A predator to a predator.
’Okay, let’s get this over with’
Before Atheline could shoot another arrow the drake opened its mouth.
’Ooh, shit’
It spat.
A stream of thick green blackish bile shot towards him. Atheline twisted mid-run barely avoiding it. He stumbled a little but managed not to fall.
The acid struck the massive tree behind him. It melted the moment the bile touched it and fell backwards after the wind blew by.
Atheline glanced at the damage and gulped.
"...That would have killed me," he muttered softly.
He shifted his position, shuffling to the right as he tried to find a weak point.
Wind gathered around him, stronger than the previous times enough to disperse some of the mud around him.
The drake lunged towards him mouth wide open. Corpses rotten and debris from the swamp were stuck in its mouth creating the worst visual Atheline wished to see.
’Thats disgusting’
The drake whipped its tail towards him, sweeping through the mucky waters.
Atheline pressed his feet down and leaped his wind propelling him higher than normal.
In the air, he released the arrow.
It veered right into the mouth of the creature but they didn’t react much. It stopped for a second after the arrow lodged into its mouth but that was all Atheline needed.
He nocked three arrows and released the wind guiding them where he wanted them to go.
’Don’t miss’
The arrows zipped through the air and lodged into both eyes of the drake at the same time damaging both.
It came to a stop as a roar shot out of it.
Atheline didn’t waste time. He shot towards the drake and lodged his dagger into its right eye, damaging it further.
The drake thrashed for a few seconds as the knife dug deeper and deeper until it came to a stop.
Atheline removed his knife and jumped back away from the water.
"This should increase my chances of winning right?"
