Chapter 400: The Wings of the Peng Bird, Fifth-Rank Cloak
"Oh? How much does True Monarch Jing know about Senior Yan Donglai, such as his whereabouts?"
Having gone through life-and-death trials together, Lan Chang'an asked directly, without any need for roundabout words.
"As a legendary great cultivator, Yan Donglai stood on equal footing with Deity Transformation Heavenly Lords. He does not belong to our era. His existence can be traced back at least tens of thousands of years. Most of what later generations know about him comes from ancient texts and the records of sect ancestors."
Jing Wufeng's tone was calm. After a brief pause, he continued:
"Yan Donglai was the near-ancient founder of the cultivation art Ancient Trees Evergreen Technique and may still be alive to this day. According to rumors, he was afflicted by some kind of curse—his lifespan is incredibly long, yet restricted. He spends most of his time in deep slumber somewhere."
Hearing this, Lan Chang'an was secretly shocked.
Yan Donglai had actually survived for so long, even while being cursed, and had persisted until the present age.
"As for his whereabouts, even Deity Transformation Heavenly Lords might not know. After all, given how long he has lived, the great cultivators and Deity Transformation Heavenly Lords of today are all but juniors in comparison."
Jing Wufeng's gaze flickered slightly, there were some things he did not say aloud.
In reality, Yan Donglai had past dealings with the ancestor of the Heavenly One Sect from several generations ago.
As a living fossil of the cultivation world, Yan Donglai had extensive connections during his active years and was acquainted with many grand ancestors of top-tier forces, maintaining good relations.
Heavenly One Sect was merely one of them.
However, during the trial, he could not directly or indirectly reveal information about his sect to outsiders, lest it lead others to link things back to the Heavenly One Sect.
"By the way, there is a certain pattern that might be related to Yan Donglai’s whereabouts."
Jing Wufeng seemed to recall something and added:
"Roughly once every thousand years, practitioners of Evergreen Technique mysteriously disappear without a trace. And they are always at the Nascent Soul stage."
What?!
Lan Chang'an’s heart trembled, a chill running straight from his spine to his crown.
Once every thousand years, targeting Nascent Soul-level Evergreen Technique cultivators—doesn't this sound a bit like 'harvesting leeks'?
"The vanishing Nascent Soul Evergreen Technique cultivators are only a fraction, and given the long intervals, this intelligence might not be entirely accurate. True Monarch Xiang, there is no need for excessive fear."
The pattern Jing Wufeng described came from a record within his sect’s handbooks, a secret that most factions in the cultivation world were unaware of.
This was because Evergreen Technique practitioners were exceedingly rare, scattered across the Heaven Honoured Continent and overseas, and the vast majority of cultivators would never encounter one in their lifetime.
"How long has it been since the last disappearance?"
Lan Chang'an seized upon the key point, his heart tightening.
"That, I am not sure of. Evergreen Technique practitioners are few and far between, some deliberately conceal their identities, and with intervals spanning a thousand years, it is not something an ordinary sect could track."
Jing Wufeng shook his head.
The reason he had revealed this sect handbook secret just now was because of the life-and-death tribulations he had shared with Lan Chang'an. Otherwise, he would not have spoken so easily.
For the rest of their journey, Lan Chang'an fell into brief contemplation, seemingly digesting the intelligence regarding Yan Donglai.
Jing Wufeng secretly thought, If I manage to emerge victorious from the final trial, it wouldn't be difficult to have that old immortal Yan Donglai owe me a favor and protect you.
However, the competition among the nine Heavenly One disciples was fierce, each one was a monstrous genius.
Being able to eliminate even one or two in the first round would already be a success.
Jing Wufeng, having passed the first round of trials, estimated that his chances of ultimate victory did not exceed thirty percent.
...
Each lost in thought, the two of them left the Central Region Forbidden Zone together.
To prevent an ambush from the Shadow Demon, they had not separated while within the forbidden zone.
Lan Chang'an performed another divination and finally let out a sigh of relief.
After leaving the Central Region Forbidden Zone, the fluctuations of risk in his divination signs and the number of unknown variables had significantly decreased, returning to a normal range.
"True Monarch Xiang, regarding the compensation materials and the matter of repairing the formation, I will contact you within the next few years."
"Alright, I will wait for good news."
Lan Chang'an knew that gathering spatial treasures and repairing the spatial formation of Tinghai Pavilion was not something that could be accomplished in a mere two or three years.
During this period, he planned to remain at Yunxia Sect to continue refining divine abilities and secret arts, strengthening himself in preparation for his return to Great Qing.
After parting ways, Lan Chang'an couldn't help but look back toward the direction of the Ancient Battlefield. Aside from the Demon Sealing Abyss, what other factors within the Central Region Forbidden Zone were interfering with his divinations?
Once he had left that region and become an outsider, his fourth-rank divination skill subtly sensed an immensely powerful fate entity hidden within the fog of destiny.
...
A few days later.
In the Ten Thousand Demons Valley, deep within a shadowy underground cave.
Inside a massive spiderweb, a one-armed, white-haired young man clad in simple cloth garments, with an ancient blade strapped to his waist, was tightly wrapped up.
Nangong Xiu’s gaze remained calm, his aura withdrawn and ancient. His entire body was bound like a cocoon by the grayish-white spider silk.
His recently severed arm had already been bandaged, a talisman affixed to the wound to seal his energy fluctuations, further wrapped with layers of spider silk.
"I heard that the silk of these demonic creatures can help block tracking and detection... Hopefully, it works..."
Nangong Xiu slowed his breath and heartbeat to an imperceptible level, and his body temperature gradually lowered.
A moment later, a sword’s cry pierced through the dark clouds, echoing from dozens of li away.
They’re here!
Nangong Xiu’s heart sank to the abyss as he continued suppressing his aura, appearing no different from a lifeless corpse ensnared in silk.
"This little thief... His escape and concealment techniques aren’t bad."
A long-bearded man in wide robes and flowing sleeves approached from the sky with a leisurely smile, hands clasped behind his back.
Each step he took spanned hundreds of zhang, a divine ability known as "Shrinking the Earth into Inches."
Strapped to the back of the long-bearded man were three sheathed ancient swords, giving him the air of a wandering swordsman.
Inside the gloomy cavern, Nangong Xiu’s face was ashen. He could feel the overwhelming spiritual sense of the great cultivator sweeping across the area, vast and all-encompassing, akin to a million sword auras piercing through every corner.
After the battle with the Seven True Monarchs, Nangong Xiu had barely recovered from his injuries when he returned to the civilized regions of the Central Region, only to face relentless pursuit from Heavenly Sword Pavilion.
He hadn’t expected that Heavenly Sword Pavilion’s Supreme Elder, the "Heavenly Sword Hermit," had come near the Central Region Forbidden Zone, intending to kill him in passing.
In a desperate moment, Nangong Xiu burned his origin essence, severed his own arm, and used the Heavenly Blade Escape Technique to flee into the Central Region Forbidden Zone.
The depths of the forbidden zone were known to obstruct spiritual sense and magical energy, making tracking difficult.
He thought he had escaped.
But he hadn't expected that a Nascent Soul Great Cultivator could still pinpoint his general location.
As the Heavenly Sword Hermit searched, his brows suddenly furrowed.
At some unknown moment, a yellow, ghostly mist had arisen around them. A few demonic creatures that mistakenly entered were instantly reduced to pools of yellowish blood.
"Fellow Daoist Fu, who is it that you're searching for?"
"If you can’t find them, my Yellow Springs Twin Ghosts can assist you in peering through heaven and earth to ease your troubles."
A voice, overlapping in tones of both a youthful boy and an aged elder, seemed to emerge from the depths of the netherworld.
From within the eerie Yellow Springs Ghost Mist, a figure materialized, a young man in a golden robe wearing a theatrical mask.
Beneath the half-mask, his face was heavily painted with thick rouge, his thin lips pale, and his skin white as arsenic, his appearance far from that of a living man.
"Yellow Springs Old Ghost, if you don’t interfere, finding that person wouldn’t be difficult for me."
The long-bearded man’s sleeves fluttered as he spoke with a calm tone, seemingly unsurprised by the arrival of Yellow Springs Ghost Lord.
Despite his youthful appearance, Yellow Springs Old Ghost was actually the oldest among the three present great cultivators.
"You're overthinking, Fellow Daoist Fu. Why would I trouble myself meddling in your Heavenly Sword Pavilion’s affairs?"
"This time, the demon outbreak is unlike any before. Moreover, the Demon Sealing Abyss Formation has shown alarming signs in recent days. I assume you’ve come to investigate as well?"
The golden-robed young man’s voice overlapped between the high-pitched tones of a boy and the rasping murmur of an elder.
"Hmm. Overturning Sea True Monarch is away on a journey, so this matter falls to the two of us to investigate."
The Heavenly Sword Hermit stroked his beard, his voice upright and steady.
His visit to the Central Region was not specifically to hunt down the Demonic Blade Nangong Xiu, he merely intended to deal with him along the way.
As they spoke, the Yellow Springs Ghost Mist spread outwards, seeping into the frigid cavern where Nangong Xiu lay hidden.
Yet, despite the Heavenly Sword Hermit’s sword-intent-infused spiritual sense, his target was nowhere to be found.
"Let’s go. This time, the Demon Sealing Abyss Formation has sounded an alarm, it’s likely that a powerful demonic being has escaped."
Yellow Springs Ghost Lord, looking impatient, urged the Heavenly Sword Hermit to depart with him towards the grand sealing formation.
The two great cultivators flew toward the Central Region Forbidden Zone, deliberately slowing their speed to avoid the hidden spatial rifts lurking within.
...
"Who’s there?!"
As they navigated around a spatial rift, Yellow Springs Ghost Lord suddenly sensed something. His ghostly divine abilities picked up on a disturbance.
At almost the same time, the Heavenly Sword Hermit’s sword-intent-infused spiritual sense detected someone lying behind a large rock, just a few dozen zhang away was a grey-clad old man resting.
Both great cultivators were stunned, this person had been so close, yet they had only just noticed him.
"Truly worthy of a ghost path grandmaster, such sharp perception."
The old man in grey gave a kindly smile and spoke in an unhurried manner:
"I bear no ill will. I had just returned from investigating the grand sealing formation and stopped here to rest. What a coincidence to encounter you both, fellow Daoists."
The grey-clad old man had unremarkable features, coarse clothing, and a rugged demeanor, resembling nothing more than a common servant.
"Your Excellency, which Heavenly Lord's incarnation are you?"
The Heavenly Sword Hermit and Yellow Springs Ghost Lord exchanged glances, their expressions turning solemn.
Through their spiritual senses, they could tell that the old man’s spiritual energy was withdrawn, his presence resembling a withered tree, making him easy to overlook.
Yet, he was not concealing his cultivation. When probed, his energy fluctuations indicated that he was at their same realm.
"You overestimate this old man. I am not an incarnation of a Heavenly Lord."
The grey-clad old man responded with a gentle tone.
The Deity Transformation Realm, also known as the Spirit Splitting stage, allowed cultivators to create avatars without the need for extreme spiritual materials.
"This fellow Daoist looks somewhat familiar… how should we address you?"
Yellow Springs Ghost Lord scrutinized him with his deep violet pupils, concealed within his theatrical mask.
"Haha, it’s no surprise you don’t recognize me. Before coming to the Great Yuan, I had long heard of your two esteemed names."
"Three hundred years ago, at a Nascent Soul cultivators' auction in Central Region, I briefly encountered you, Fellow Daoist Yellow Springs. But you did not take notice of me at the time."
The grey-clad old man chuckled, avoiding revealing his identity.
"I see."
Yellow Springs Ghost Lord searched his distant memories and vaguely recalled such a meeting.
Upon reaching the Nascent Soul Great Cultivator stage, one could command authority over entire provinces. Such figures were renowned across the Heaven Honoured Continent, known to top factions and intelligence networks alike.
For Nascent Soul Great Cultivators, wandering the continent and befriending powerful cultivators was a common occurrence.
However, a Nascent Soul Great Cultivator level person who remained obscure and nameless like this grey-clad old man was extremely rare.
"You’ve investigated the grand sealing formation, do you have something to share with us?"
The Heavenly Sword Hermit’s sharp gaze focused on him.
Given the old man’s exceptional concealment abilities, if he had wished to avoid them, they would never have met.
"The flaw in the Demon Sealing Abyss has been mostly repaired. However, two powerful demonic creatures had already escaped prior to the fix."
"One of them was a late-stage fourth-rank Shadow Demon Scout, now heavily wounded and fleeing. The ruling forces of Yuan Province would do well to hunt it down and eliminate it, or the consequences will be dire."
"In a few hundred years, the boundary between the Demonic Peak Realm and Heaven Honoured Realm will grow closer, stabilizing the inter-realm passage. This old man predicts that the Great Yuan will become a primary target for demonic invasions."
The grey-clad old man spoke these two critical pieces of information before rising to leave.
With a flickering distortion of light, his figure blurred and then vanished.
"A Shadow Demon Scout… the Demonic Peak Realm?"
The two Great Cultivators who ruled the Great Yuan turned toward the distant forest, frowning in contemplation.
During ancient times, the Heaven Honoured Realm and the Demonic Peak Realm were both worlds on the same level.
Back then, spiritual energy surged, resources were abundant, and the upper limit of realms that cultivators could reach was far higher than in the present era.
More importantly, at that time, the Heaven Honoured Realm had an Ascension Platform, with a stable passage to the Ancient Spirit Realm, maintaining direct contact with the higher planes.
However, a cataclysmic upheaval shattered the Ancient Spirit Realm, transforming it into the legendary Fallen Immortal Realm.
Since then, the Heaven Honoured Realm was cut off from the higher worlds, suffering repeated invasions and plundering, growing progressively weaker and more isolated.
Meanwhile, the Demonic Peak Realm maintained its connection with the higher Demon Realm, preserving a stable ascension passage.
To this day, it remained powerful, actively invading weaker cultivation worlds.
Fortunately, due to the decline in Heaven Honoured’s world tier, the laws of heaven and earth now limited invaders to at most Nascent Soul-level cultivators.
Combined with the home-field advantage, Heaven Honoured was not so easily conquered.
"A few hundred years from now…"
The Heavenly Sword Hermit spoke plainly:
"If I haven't reached the Deity Transformation Realm by then, my lifespan will have run out."
For him, the far-off future was of little concern. It was better to focus on the present, and seize any opportunity to break through.
...
A few days later.
In Wanfeng Sect, inside an inn within an immortal city, Jing Wufeng was seated in meditation, adjusting his breath and restoring his energy.
At a nearby table, a grey-clad old man had suddenly appeared. He picked up the teapot on the table and took several rough, unceremonious gulps.
"Uncle Duan."
Jing Wufeng opened his eyes, his face lighting up with joy as he stood and saluted respectfully.
The old man nodded approvingly. "You did well in the first round of trials."
"Uncle Duan overpraises me! There were some accidents in the demon-sealing mission, I was just about to report to the sect."
Despite the old man's unassuming appearance and humble servant-like attire, Jing Wufeng would never dare be negligent around him.
This old man was responsible for verifying his mission completion. Unless external forces specifically targeted Heavenly One Sect, he would not interfere—if Jing Wufeng died, it was simply his own fate.
On paper, this grey-clad elder was his master’s servant, or perhaps his Dao protector.
However, many years ago, this man had once been just like him, a rising genius of the cultivation world. In the end, he had failed in his trials.
When there was nothing to do, these former prodigies slept in the sect’s secret lands, sealed away to slow their lifespan depletion.
When they were needed, they were awakened and sent on missions, or simply took the chance to wander the outside world.
Since they were from a different era, today's cultivators of the same level would not recognize them.
"When do you plan to return to the sect?"
The old man asked casually.
"The remaining time for the trial is ample. I plan to stay in the Great Yuan for a few more years, searching for opportunities and handling some personal matters."
Jing Wufeng replied with his intentions.
"Additionally, I have a request. I need permission from the sect’s library for something."
...
Half a month later.
Lan Chang'an successfully returned to Yunxia Sect.
As soon as the sect’s Honored Elder was back, Purple Mist Fairy, who had been in seclusion, came out ahead of schedule.
She wore a golden phoenix hairpin, her delicate brows arched elegantly, and her slender waist wrapped in fine silk. Clad in a flowing, light purple immortal gown that trailed behind her, she descended on auspicious clouds.
"Dalong, I have finally waited for your safe return."
"When I heard that you made a name for yourself in the Central Region Forbidden Zone, the entire sect celebrated. But I… I worried about you for a long time."
Inside Yunlan Peak’s cave mansion, the once aloof and noble Nascent Soul Lady shed her usual reserved demeanor. Her starry eyes shimmered with longing as she threw herself into Lan Chang'an’s embrace.
"Dalong… your hair…"
Jiang Ziyan’s expression changed as she noticed streaks of white in Lan Chang'an’s otherwise jet-black hair.
His appearance had not changed, but there was now a profound depth and an air of weariness about him.
"It’s nothing. Just a side effect of using a secret art, I lost some essence and lifespan."
Lan Chang'an soothed her gently, feeling the soft warmth of Purple Mist Fairy in his arms.
Beneath her graceful and dignified bearing, there was a hidden fiery passion.
That night, beneath shifting moonlight and swaying flower shadows, the spring air felt like a dream.
After discussing the Dao with the Purple Mist Fairy for three days, Lan Chang'an gained an understanding of the situation around the Great Yu Kingdom.
A year ago, Lan Chang'an and Jing Wufeng became renowned after their battle in the Central Region Forbidden Zone, forcing the Seven True Monarchs to retreat in defeat.
The name “Twin Dragons of the Central Region” shook the cultivation world, alarming various major factions.
Lan Chang'an himself was now recognized as having combat strength on par with mid-stage Nascent Soul cultivators, and many speculated he still had hidden trump cards.
No one doubted that the Twin Dragons of the Central Region were the top fighting force below Nascent Soul Great Cultivators.
However, fame breeds both awe and enemies.
The Yaqi Mountain located near Great Yu had issued a strong protest, demanding an explanation from the Great Yu Imperial Court.
One of Yaqi Mountain’s major branches, Wu Du Mountain, had lost a Nascent Soul powerhouse, the True Monarch Dominating Martial.
Now, Yaqi Mountain’s leading faction, South Emperor Mountain, had sent envoys for negotiations, declaring that the Great Yu Kingdom was attempting to provoke conflict and must face the consequences.
...
Not long after Lan Chang'an’s return to the sect, Nascent Soul True Monarchs from around the Great Yu Kingdom began visiting one after another or sent letters of greeting.
This was an unprecedented level of recognition.
When a Nascent Soul True Monarch possessed overwhelming strength enough to kill his peers, other cultivators of the same generation would seek to befriend them and form alliances.
The first to visit, however, was a representative from the imperial family.
That day, in the Sect’s Grand Hall.
"Dalong, this is Elder Red Sleeve from the imperial family."
Jiang Ziyan, who had personally accompanied the guest, introduced her with a warm smile.
The woman in question, True Monarch Red Sleeve, wore a crimson robe, appearing to be around twenty-four or twenty-five years old. She had delicate features, a refined elegance, and while her beauty and presence were slightly inferior to Jiang Ziyan’s, she was still undeniably striking.
The last time she had visited, Lan Chang'an had probed her with his spiritual sense, she carried the aura of nobility and arrogance that only those in high positions of power possessed.
"The name ‘Twin Dragons of the Central Region’ is as familiar to me as rolling thunder. I have long admired you."
"Seeing you today, I understand why Ziyan guards you so closely…"
This time, however, True Monarch Red Sleeve exuded grace and charm, her eyes shimmering with admiration.
She spoke with effortless praise, resembling a cultured noble lady who had come to express admiration for a great hero.
Her demeanor was so natural that it would have been difficult for any man to find it unpleasant.
Jiang Ziyan chuckled, her smile dazzling. "Sister Red Sleeve is known for her grace and diplomacy in the Great Yu court. Dalong, don’t let her bewitch you."
True Monarch Red Sleeve inwardly scoffed.
She had hoped to meet Lan Chang'an alone to convey the imperial family’s sincerity.
Yet, Purple Mist Fairy insisted on being present.
Originally, Lan Chang'an intended to exchange only a few polite words. However, he quickly realized that the imperial family was truly offering something valuable this time.
Red Sleeve True Monarch’s playful demeanor faded, and she spoke in a more serious tone:
"True Monarch Xiang, your victory over True Monarch Dominating Martial in the Central Region Forbidden Zone has greatly pleased the Emperor and the imperial clan. They have decided to reward you, you may select one treasure from the imperial treasury."
"Ahem! To be precise, Dominating Martial was not personally slain by me. It was the betrayal of the Demonic Blade, Nangong Xiu, that led to his death. However, I will gladly accept the imperial family's kindness."
Lan Chang'an smiled, and what had initially been a somewhat distant conversation quickly warmed up.
The imperial treasury's rewards for Nascent Soul True Monarchs were top-tier fourth-rank treasures. He had heard that the treasury contained materials from a fourth-rank divine beast of the avian lineage.
The imperial family’s generosity had two motives:
One was to mend their previously tense relationship with Lan Chang'an.
The second was to further escalate hostilities between True Monarch Evergreen and Yaqi Mountain, ensuring that Lan Chang'an would be a future asset against their adversaries.
Lan Chang'an didn’t mind their scheming, he simply accepted the benefits.
Before leaving, True Monarch Red Sleeve ignored Jiang Ziyan’s displeased gaze and sent Lan Chang'an a private voice transmission, her eyes flirtatiously glimmering:
"If True Monarch Xiang has no use for Fairy Soaring Snow’s physical body, the imperial family is willing to purchase it at a high price."
Lan Chang'an’s heart stirred.
The imperial family’s intelligence network was truly formidable, they must have had a fourth-rank divination master assisting them.
They even knew about Soaring Snow True Monarch’s preserved body?
Lan Chang'an realized he might have underestimated the value of a Nascent Soul cultivator’s Innate Dao Physique.
Returning to Yunlan Peak.
Back in his cave mansion, Jiang Ziyan gently asked, "Dalong, what did True Monarch Red Sleeve transmit to you just now?"
"A potential transaction."
Lan Chang'an did not conceal the matter.
To his mild surprise, Jiang Ziyan actually became interested upon hearing it.
She mused that a preserved Nascent Soul female cultivator’s body could be highly useful in the future.
For example, if one's physical body were ever destroyed, their Nascent Soul could take refuge in a perfectly preserved alternate vessel.
Lan Chang'an glanced at the noble and elegant Purple Mist Fairy, then thought of the cold and ethereal Fairy Soaring Snow, a fleeting thought crossed his mind.
...
The next six months followed.
Between cultivation sessions, Lan Chang'an met with several Nascent Soul True Monarchs, receiving generous gifts from each.
During this time, he claimed his imperial reward:
The "Wing of the Peng Bird", which was retrieved by Yunxia Sect’s senior cultivators and secretly safeguarded.
Typically, a reward of this magnitude required a personal visit to the imperial treasury.
However, Lan Chang'an had no interest in visiting the Imperial City.
Fortunately, certain Nascent Soul forces within the Great Yu Kingdom were aware of some of the treasures in the treasury.
The "Wing of the Peng Bird" was a fourth-rank heavenly spirit bird, supposedly from a hybrid descendant of the True Spirit Peng Bird.
Combined with the Ice Blue Phoenix Feather from Soaring Snow True Monarch’s spatial jade bracelet, there was significant progress in gathering main materials for the Exotic Spirit Peacock Puppet.
On this day, in the secret chamber of Yunlan Peak, Lan Chang'an draped a newly crafted black cloak over Lord Earthrock.
"Shrink your body. Suppress your demonic energy."
Lan Chang'an commanded, eagerly anticipating the results.
This black cloak had been crafted from the damaged fifth-rank black robe.
Based on the original fabric’s properties, Lan Chang'an redesigned it into a cloak.
The original black robe was not a magical treasure and being damaged, it had no remaining restrictive enchantments.
Lan Chang'an didn’t need to reforge it, he simply needed to utilize its inherent durability and properties.
At full focus, his spiritual sense could not detect Lord Earthrock hidden within the cloak.
"Not bad, not bad!"
Lan Chang'an was delighted, clapping his hands in praise.
If not for his naked eyes, his spiritual sense would have completely overlooked the black cloak, mistaking it for an ordinary piece of fabric.
Since his Evergreen Technique’s concealment ability far surpassed that of Lord Earthrock, the cloak’s effect would be even greater when worn by him.
Using the fourth-rank divination technique, Lan Chang'an confirmed that this black cloak provided near-perfect concealment from all Nascent Soul-level cultivators.
Only if someone was very close or deliberately searching could they possibly detect him.
"Now, let’s test its durability."
Lan Chang'an pulled out a razor-sharp magical blade and slashed at the cloak yet barely left a mark.
Though not an actual defensive treasure, it could still significantly weaken a Nascent Soul cultivator’s attacks.
Squeak! Squeak!
Lord Earthrock peeked out from beneath the black cloak, its eyes gleaming rather fondly.
Lan Chang'an nodded in approval.
"With this artifact, even if I offend a Great Cultivator in the future, I will at least have another means of survival."
He removed the cloak from Lord Earthrock and wrapped it around himself, it fit quite well.
And just like that, we've hit the 400 chapter mark in no time! It's been a lil over a year since we began translating our Sidekick Evergreen Immortal's journey and since then, I've picked up another similarly slow but fulfilling novel which you can check out over here, Five Immortal Sects (ty @WiseDaoist for the suggestion!)
Now, I just hope the raws start updating soon ;-;
Anyway, Hooray to this milestone!
