Chapter 104: Chapter 104

In the Hidden City. {Also known as ARISHEM.}

As Watts’ clone was enjoying life with his family, trying to refocus and reduce the burden on his soul, the main body in Arishem was also seeing things through.

The moment he had entered the hotel, he had noticed that a lot of eyes were on him for some reason.

And although he could guess why, it didn’t mean he liked being watched in any way. Nobody liked that, and Watts was a die hard for privacy.

But he had to ignore it for now at least to be as low key as possible until he got what he wanted.

"Hey Black, how far?" he asked.

[Six hours remaining.]

Listening to Black’s answer, Watts sighed. It seemed the city’s fire walls were really strong, to be hacked in easily.

Black box was his masterpiece, with a level five ability technopathy, it should be invincible, but if it was taking it this long to just hack into the public tech... then he better stop underestimating the city.

For the answers he needed, he needed this to be done before he can take on anything else, and so he had to spend the next 6 hours doing something.

And seeing as there was a tv in the room, he decided to see what kind of movies these guys watch.

Considering they could really do the things in the movies, or make the special effects themselves without need for editing, the movies here had to be dope, right?

However before he could go on to look for the movies, something else caught his eye. The news.

"In other news, in a series of tragic events, city B has been razed to the ground by what we think to be a massive extraterrestrial attack. The images we are picking up are... extremely worrying. It’s like an apocalypse, buildings razed to the ground, blood everywhere, and fact is, there is not even one survivor..."

The images of the city were shown next and like the news anchor had said, it was apocalyptic. Just like if a place was bombed or something like that.

"The DEA is still carrying out investigations but we have confirmed that the cause is still unknown. This has put people on edge, especially following the fact that the extraterrestrial portals have been appearing more frequently and breaking before the saturation causing a lot of hunter casualties across the globe. And although the DEA still deny that these city attacks are not related to the abnormal portals, people..."

Watts couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow, a whole city razed to the ground without even a survivor? It sounded really familiar.

Broken memories of a dark sky, the smell of death, the phantom pain, the cries of help across the galaxy, the deaths he caused.

It all came back like a sledgehammer. He groaned as he rushed to the bathroom pouring water on his face as if to wash away the memories.

Because although he tried to lock away the memories, the trauma would never go away for a pretty long time.

However, with those memories, came something else, something he hadn’t noticed until now.

Flashes of an ominous swirling crimson portal, of cries and roars and... and... things e couldn’t really place.

But if he was to guess, he had entered a fucking portal right after awakening or just before he awakened his ability.

That’s why he woke up in a pool of blood.

What didn’t make sense however was why he couldn’t remember shit. Was his memories wiped out by the hunters.

Because according to the knowledge he had, the Hunter’s Association could detect portals even before they could appeared and send hunters to clear the portal.

Did they come and find him inside and wiped him clean? No, he could sense he had no tampered memories, which only confused him the more.

Because if he wasn’t wiped out then why couldn’t he remember, and also why didn’t the hunters come to clear the portal?

And no, these portals weren’t opening to dungeons like in novels, no, they led to real planets with real life out there in the endless universe.

As to why they even appeared, he had no idea.

Knowing that he had to find out answers fast, he decided to take things serious for once. Using the pad in the room, he started making some research.

All he could find out was that the portals, high level ones have been increasing in frequency of appearing all around the world.

And the fact that attacks on hidden cities have been taking place. Nothing more.

It seemed the DEA or whatever was hiding the truth, something normal for any organization in power, it seemed as if hiding the truth was their only response to such kind of situations.

Seeing as he wouldn’t find much this way, he decided to relax a bit and let Black finish so that he could start the mission as soon as possible since it seems it had gotten even more interesting.

So all he did was take a shower, order room service, which was great by the way and watch Tv. It seems everything here was made easier and better with different abilities.

So to say the least, the food was amazing. Best thing he has ever put in his mouth, ever.

So he made sure to saver each damn bite, slowly, as he looked out of the window to see the city below.

A view that he was having a difficult time adjusting to, after all he was just a normal guy like a week ago, so seeing everything that seemed to be from a fantasy novel, he couldn’t help but feel excited.

Now first of all, a lot of different races were a normalcy here it seems with how no one seemed surprised to see a green four armed group of people walking around for example.

Cars and bikes could fly, people too by the way. And no one seemed surprised.

So he could guess it was a norm here.

Also public transport was glass elevators like the tubes. Not like the ones that brought him inside the city, but smaller shaped like elevators and specifically for small bursts of speed.

Like one second you are entering a tube from the nearest stop, next second you are at the nearest stop near work.

The elevators ran to every corner of the city, different colors, automatic, on the ground, up, everywhere. It was really bizarre but also beautiful.

Watts spent a couple of minutes standing on his window, looking out at the city. It was at this time that he understood why movie villains do it often.

It was liberating and educating too.

But this wasn’t why he was in Arishem. No. It was something else entirely.

The last week or so, from the moment he got his powers, he been in one problem after another, and he was yet to find answers to eve one of his problems.

And now it was time to end this. It was time to find solutions for all his problems before they swallowed him whole.

First, it was the Order. The mysterious organization that seemed to have a history with him though he didn’t remember meeting them, ever.

Things didn’t add up, they seemed to know him, they seemed to have a history with him, yet he couldn’t remember, something that should be impossible considering he was literal death, someone who peruses in minds of beings like it’s another Friday.

Then there was now the issue of how he got his powers, since he seemed to miss the memories of entering a portal or something else entirely, he wasn’t sure yet.

Then the issue of the fuckers who were investigating him, the guy and the two twins that had broken into his apartment, he didn’t know if it was the Order again or another organization.

And for some reason, his heart was sure it wasn’t the Order this time around.

There were like three more mysteries, but those were like the 3 big mysteries in his life. Maybe even the Paragons and all that shit with Shadow.

He had to find out, and fast.
