I Start with a Mysterious Island-Chapter 36: Damn It, I’ve Been Tricked
The Black Snake Beast never imagined the prey it was hunting would be so formidable; a single strike had left it badly wounded.
Although his Fireball Attack hadn’t hit its intended target, Lin Li saw that it had still inflicted considerable damage. This prompted him to launch another attack without hesitation.
’As the saying goes, strike when your enemy is weak. If not now, when?’
Lin Li mobilized the Spiritual Energy in his body and held out his left palm.
FWOOM, FWOOM, FWOOM.
In an instant, three apple-sized Fireballs materialized above his palm.
WHOOSH, WHOOSH, WHOOSH.
With a wave of his hand, the three apple-sized Fireballs shot out simultaneously. They formed a triangular pattern in mid-air as they flew toward the still-dazed Black Snake Beast.
HISS...
Sensing the approaching danger, the Black Snake Beast snapped back to its senses. It was horrified to see Lin Li so decisively using his Superpower to attack it again.
It immediately twisted its body to dodge the three approaching Fireballs.
BANG, BANG, BANG.
Of the three Fireballs that shot toward the Black Snake Beast in a triangular formation, two struck its body. The third missed, slamming into the grassy ground.
The two Fireballs blasted another pair of massive wounds into the Black Snake Beast’s thick body.
Scales were blasted from the wounds, and blood gushed out. The intense heat from the explosions had also scorched the surrounding scales white.
HISS...
The pain from these new wounds was several times more intense than the last.
The saying held true; as long as the beast was alive, the assault would not stop.
After launching the second wave of Fireballs, Lin Li charged forward, sword in hand, right behind them.
The moment the heatwave from the explosions dissipated, Lin Li closed in. Wielding his Spiritual Longsword, which glowed with a faint golden Spiritual Light, he thrust it toward the Black Snake Beast’s wounds.
SQUELCH, SQUELCH, SQUELCH...
They say rubbing salt in a wound is excruciating. So what kind of agony would one feel from being stabbed repeatedly in the same spot?
Well... only someone who has personally experienced it could answer that question, and this Black Snake Beast couldn’t speak.
Even after experiencing such agony firsthand, it couldn’t tell anyone about it.
But one could probably get a sense of its torment from the heart-rending shrieks that erupted from its maw.

After Lin Li stabbed its wounds several more times, the Black Snake Beast let out a deafening, mournful hiss. It then violently whipped its body, lashing out at him.

A fierce wind howled.
Reacting quickly, Lin Li immediately dropped into a crouch, narrowly dodging the beast’s strike.
After dodging the attack, he immediately stabbed its wounds twice more before kicking off the ground and leaping backward.
THUD, THUD, THUD.
In two or three quick leaps, he instantly put distance between himself and the Black Snake Beast.
’Awesome!!!’
Now outside the Black Snake Beast’s effective range, Lin Li felt a surge of satisfaction from his fluid, seamless assault.
’Haha... This big black thing only looks fierce. In a real fight, it’s no match for me. Just a little more effort, and I’ll get the Mutant Beast flesh and blood that the Magical Little Tree needs.’
The Black Snake Beast had lost all of its initial smugness and ferocity.
Four or five meters below its head was a terrifying wound, first created by Lin Li’s Fireball, then stabbed over a dozen times.
Lin Li had put great force into each of those dozen-plus stabs. The wounds were deep; a few had even pierced straight through the Black Snake Beast’s body.
Blood gushed from the wound, instantly dyeing the verdant grass beneath the Black Snake Beast crimson.
FWOOM.
An orange-red Fireball materialized in Lin Li’s hand once more.
Seeing the Fireball reappear in Lin Li’s hand, the Black Snake Beast was so terrified its pupils constricted to the size of pinpricks.
HISS...
Having lost its nerve to Lin Li’s Fireball Attacks, the Black Snake Beast could only let out a series of blustering hisses, hoping to scare away its fearsome foe.
But it had clearly underestimated its enemy’s determination to kill it.
’Haha... Look at you now, you coward. So you’re scared? It’s too late for that. If you hadn’t ambushed me from the grass, you wouldn’t be in this state. Now just accept your fate!’
Seeing the Black Snake Beast’s pathetic bluff, Lin Li laughed and taunted it before casually tossing the Fireball at it. He then charged forward once more, Spiritual Longsword in hand.
BANG.
Struck by the Fireball yet again, the Black Snake Beast roared. The sharp pain of the new wound, piled on top of its existing injuries, was so intense it nearly passed out.
But this was no time to pass out.
The Black Snake Beast could clearly sense Lin Li’s absolute determination to kill it.
’I have to run. I have to run now! These wounds won’t stop bleeding. If I keep fighting, I’ll bleed out and be at his mercy.’
SQUELCH.
The Spiritual Longsword, glowing with its faint golden Spiritual Light, plunged into one of the Black Snake Beast’s wounds once more. The tip of the blade pierced through to the other side.
Lin Li’s sword had run the Black Snake Beast clean through, creating yet another bleeding hole.
HISS...
The Black Snake Beast twisted its body, its massive jaws snapping viciously at Lin Li.
Although Lin Li had the absolute upper hand, he was still facing an incredibly ferocious Mutant Beast.
Faced with its desperate counterattack, he had no choice but to temporarily retreat. He swiftly yanked his Spiritual Longsword from its body and backed away.
Judging by the ferocity of the counterattack, Lin Li expected the beast to press its assault. He therefore retreated more than ten meters.
’This...?! Damn it, I fell for it! That ferocious attack was just a feint.’
After retreating more than ten meters, Lin Li saw the heavily wounded Black Snake Beast turn and flee the moment he was clear. It slithered rapidly toward a patch of dense grass nearby.
