I was Kidnapped for Revenge by a Ruthless Alpha-Chapter 85: It’s Good We’re Heading Home
Chapter 85: It’s Good We’re Heading Home
~AMBROSE’S POV~
I was in a deep sleep when I was suddenly ripped from it by the sound of screams coming from Odette.
She was thrashing in her sleep. Her cries were agonizing.
I shook her lightly, "Hey, my little fox, it’s time to wake up." I said trying to wake her up from whatever hoor was plaguing her dreams.
"Come on now. You have to wake up." I repeated, still shaking her.
I was getting frantic. What was she dreaming about that had such a strong hold on her?
How do I help her?
Should I summon a healer? Damon? Her friend?
Her wailing was breaking my heart. She was struggling.
I don’t know how long this went on. But it was way too long.
Finally, it broke. She shot up so quick it actually startled me. She sucked in a deep raspy breath. Her body was trembling, she was drenched in sweat.
"Hey, you’re safe, it’s okay, Odette, you’re okay."
She looked like she saw a ghost. Her face was petrified. Her skin so pale she almost looked translucent. Her lips were chalky and chapped.
I could feel the pain she was feeling. Her sadness was so heavy I could feel even feel it. It was overwhelming. It made me want to clutch my chest.
What the fuck was this dream about?
She started blinking rapidly, her breathing was fast and uneven.
Her eyes catch me off guard, they were bloodshot and hollow, blood started swelling in her eyes until a tear slipped down her cheek, quickly followed by a second and a third.
At first, she didn’t realize it, she just stared out into space.
"Odette, your eyes. You’re crying, and their tears of blood." I went to wipe them, but she beat me to it.
Wiping the blood from her cheeks she looks down at her hand and sharply inhales in shock.
She looked over to me and she looked like she was mourning the worst loss of her life. It me and Onyx horribly.
She’s hurting, what do we do? Comfort her Onyx said as he paced back and forth in my mind.
I don’t know.
I can’t handle seeing her like this. Whatever she dreamed of was something serious, we need to talk to Artemesia.
He was right, tears of blood were definitely something that warranted a conversation with our resident witch in the capital.
You’re right, we’ll leave earlier, I’ll call her in the morning and tell her I request her services.
She’s shaking, maybe hold her? Rub her back? Offer her a drink?
I follow Onyx’s advice, I’m familiar with giving comfort. I decided to just do whatever felt right.
I pull her into my embrace. Holding her close and rub her back gently. At first she stiffened, but after a moment, her shoulders relaxed, little by little. How body shuddered. Silent sobs and whimpers came the second she leaned into my embrace.
She melted in my arms, violet shudders racked her body.
"You’re safe, I’m here, I’m not leaving. I’ll protect you. Don’t be afraid, baby." I decided to try one of those basic couple’s nicknames, hoping to get her attention, make her laugh or bark at me or smile. Anything to just get her to stop crying.
And it worked. She stopped suddenly and pulled away from me. I didn’t let go, but I let her get a enough space she could look at me.
Our lips were so close, I could feel the warmth of her breath on my face.
"Did you just call me baby?" She practically squeaked, and it was so damn cute, it almost killed me.
"I did."
She blushed and simply said "Oh."
"You’re safe, you know that right? That whatever happened in that dream was just a dream, right?" I asked anxiously.
"It felt so real, like I was there, but I was a prisoner in my own body, like I was possessed and someone else was at the helm of my body. But shen I spoke, it wasn’t my voice." She told me.
"And Onyx, your wolf was there."
Oh, she has nightmares with me in it, ask her what I was doing.
Okay.
"What was he doing there?" I was nervous.
"He was protecting me. There was this monster that looked terrifying, but not as scary as the horde of zombie like monsters that swarmed behind him. They were the most frightful things I’ve ever seen. I’ve never felt so afraid in my life."
She looked at me, blood streaks stained her cheeks, her eyes still blood shot and now extremely puffy from crying.
"I couldn’t save him Ambrose, I had to pick between him and the monster, and the decision literally destroyed me. It was so real Ambrose, everything I felt and saw, it was like I was reliving a memory, but it wasn’t mine." She sounded so scared, like she met the devil himself.
"We’ll leave first thing in the morning and head back to the capital; we can meet with our royal witch. She’s powerful and extremely knowledgeable. She comes from a long line of witches and a powerful coven. She will have some answers, I’m positive." I said reassuring her I would help her figure this out.
"How about we get some fresh air and go to the butterfly garden, watch the sunrise? Get some mind bleach to help clear your head?" I suggested eagerly. The sunrise here was one to behold. I hoped she would agree.
"Okay." She replied quietly. We get off the bed. Her naked body still trembling.
We dress in warm clothes and head out.
"Let’s stop by the kitchen." I could have summoned a servant to make us a warm drink, but I opted out, she’s the kind of girl that liked to rely on herself, and not use the help, even if that’s what they’re paid for.
"Okay." She spoke so softly and wearily.
We walked in a comfortable silence to the kitchen. Our footsteps echoing through the hallways. Without saying a word, I put 2 cups of water in the microwave and heat him up. Once it was done, I went to the cupboard and pulled out a plastic tub of hot cocoa powder and mixed it into our drinks. Grabbing milk from the fridge, cooling it some, but not too much, while also giving it a creamy texture.
With our cups we leave the kitchen and head outside.
When we open the front double doors, the cold brisk hair slaps our face. A stark contrast to the warm pack house. I wrap my arm around her waist bringing her closer to me, sharing our body heat. The wind wasn’t strong; it was only a slight breeze. The sky hard started lightening the sun was close to peaking on the horizon.
We approach the garden, still in a soothing silence. No words were needed right now, though I had more questions about the dream I could visually see she was still so shaken up by whatever haunted her.
The butterflies swarmed her the minute she walked inside. Like recognizing one of their own. Her face instantly brightened with their greeting. Her mood and aura lifted. She seemed like she was no longer drowning in pain.
We sit down by the small pound and listen to the chirping of the cicadas.
"I’ll wake up Damon and have him contact the pilot to bring the plane here after the sunrises. I’ll have Jaylin and her beta come to the capital for more alpha training. My priority is getting you home."
"Thanks." She was short with her words, but I know she meant every bit of that, thanks. I could tell in her voice.
She didn’t deny it being home.
I think she’s accepting us.
I think so too.
We laid together enjoying the sounds of the rippling water. As the sun rose above the mountains that surrounded the pack. The sky was a beautiful combination of stars and purples and pinks. Orange was slowly creeping up the horizon.
This moment, with her was everything a man could hope for.
After the sun rose we sat up, taking our cups with us.
I opened up the channel, linking with Damon. "I know it’s early, but it’s time to wake up, something came up and we need to leave down."
"Are you really waking me up this early, knowing we partied so late last night." Damon groaned, his voice grumpy and his language slurred, seemingly still drunk from last night.
"It’s about Odette, I’ll explain later, but the sooner we’re able to leave the better. Wake up get in touch with our pilot."
"What about the new alpha? Alpha Jaylin still needs training.
"We can send Alpha Jaylin in a few days once we settle in. Give her the run down on the job and train her on the responsibilities of the alpha."
"Understood alpha, I’ll get right on it." Damon moaned.
He is literally the best beta anyone could ask for. Despite his pleasure, he will still do what I ask without question.
On the way back we ran into Emalea, she was carrying what seemed to be our breakfast.
"Good morning, my king." She bowed and then looked to me "Good morning, Odette."
"Yeah, morning." Odette responded.
Emalea noticed her change almost instantly, her eyes darted back and forth but seeing that I was there, she didn’t push. Odette will tell her later, I’m sure.
"Thank you, Emalea, please go along and pack your bags, we will be leaving soon."
"Yes, your majesty." Emalea bowed her head again and handed me the tray, seeing that Odette had barely lifted her head and hadn’t looked Emalea in the eyes when speaking with her.
She still looked down, though not as bad as she was before we left for the garden.
We packed our bags, and as expected Damon got our pack ready, informed Alpha Jaylin of the change in plans. And had the pilot arrived promptly.
Odette still hasn’t spoken much, but her mood had lightened more, and the color returned to her face completely.
We were the first on the plane and quickly took our seats. I was ready to be home.
