I Was Reborn as the Female Antagonist's Servant-Chapter 29 – Heading to the Swordsmanship Training Room
I failed again.
I was currently inside My Lady’s room. However, instead of seeing her in bed as usual, she was nowhere to be found. The room was still dark, the curtains still drawn, but she had been replaced by pillows she had covered with a blanket.
I let out a long sigh. "Did she go to the dining room ahead of me?"
It seemed so.
"And I was ready to serve her," I lamented.
...But, tomorrow, I’ll try to wake up even earlier.
After I made that resolution in my heart, I began to take out the white sheets I had just brought from the storage room I tried to feel around beneath the sheets, the last place I had seen the princess’s diary, but it was no longer there. It seemed she had moved it somewhere safer.
I took out the new sheets after removing the old ones. I spread them out, then smoothed them. A few moments later, I saw the curtains were still closed, and without a word, I opened them as well. Seeing that my first task was complete, I moved on to my second task—tidying the princess’s vanity table. I arranged her makeup tools neatly, without making any mistakes like yesterday. And when I finished my second task, I moved on to the last task—emptying the water in the bathtub. Slowly, my footsteps began to echo, heading towards the bathroom. When I reached in front of the door, I grabbed the round handle and pulled it. A faint scraping sound was heard, before the wooden door finally opened completely.
I entered, crossing the threshold. I headed towards the bathtub, which was still filled with lukewarm water that was slowly cooling, squatted down, and carefully looked for the drain. For a moment, I narrowed my eyes, before my eyes widened—finding the plug inside the bathtub.
My hand immediately reached out towards the copper plug, pulling it, causing the water inside to slowly flow out of the hole where I pulled the plug. I stood up, watching the volume of water slowly decrease. My gaze remained fixed on the water as it slowly diminished, until the bathtub was completely drained.
I glanced at the area near my feet where the water had flowed out. From the looks of it, nothing was coming out anymore.
For a moment, I paid attention to the area under my feet, where the water had flowed out. From the looks of it, nothing was coming out anymore. After I confirmed it, I immediately squatted down, closing the hole again using the same copper plug. I stood up again, stretching my aching back. I stared for a moment, there were no mistakes, then exited the threshold—heading towards the exit door.
Once I was outside, I put my head back into the door crack specifically for that. I checked around, all my work had been done perfectly. I nodded, satisfied with the results of my work, then took my head out of the door crack while closing the door tightly again.
I turned my body around, for a moment I was silent. I was caught up in thoughts of my daily schedule, before my eyes widened—remembering what I had to do next.
"To the training room," I muttered.
Footsteps landed on the red carpet, the sound muffled as usual. Today was so bright, visible from the sun on the left side that was starting to creep into the hallway. I didn’t know what lesson Big Brother Fukuro would give today, but he clearly said he would start teaching from today. I kept walking, the sound of wings flapping and birds singing drifting in through the windows as I passed by them. For some reason, today was so quiet—except earlier, when the princess went to the dining room without me. But that was normal, I hadn’t made an approach to her yet.
"...Maybe tomorrow," I muttered.
Before I knew it, the door I had been waiting for was right in front of me. What had seemed small from a distance gradually grew larger as I approached it. When I finally stood before it, I stopped walking. I looked from bottom to top, to the point of having to look up when I saw the edge of this door.
My throat felt dry looking at it. "It still amazes me."
I swallowed my saliva. My fist clenched, as my gaze returned to the long door handle in front of me. The first time I came here, it was the Head Butler who opened this door. But now, I was required to be independent by circumstances.
I sighed. "I can do it."
My hand began to reach out, touching the cold, long door handle. That coldness pierced my skin for a moment, before disappearing and being replaced by the warmth of my body. For a moment, I reassured myself, looking at the door in front that hadn’t been opened yet. My gaze immediately sharpened, pushing the door hard. I used all my strength, my back muscles tightening beneath the black jacket. Cold sweat began to flow down my face. This door was so heavy to push. To the point that I thought, How did the Head Butler push this?!
I kept struggling to push the door. My arms clenched behind the jacket and the veins on the back of my hand stood out strongly. My heart was pounding fast, until it could be heard directly in my ears. My breath was racing quickly. I didn’t know if I could push it, but I tried to strengthen my resolve even more A strained shout escaped me as I held it back, and the door slowly began to open—a small gap forming and gradually widening. I kept pushing it hard, until it finally opened—enough for my body to enter. As soon as I saw the gap, I immediately passed through it quickly, before the door behind me finally closed completely. I managed to get in.
I held my left shoulder, it felt a little sore after opening that door. I massaged it a little with my gaze focused there. When my shoulder felt better, I released my left hand and shoulder with my gaze slowly shifting forward.
Little by little, the view in front began to be visible, until when my gaze was completely level looking forward—my eyes widened.
