Chapter 11: Accepted Fate

Shugo shrugged, placing his chubby hand Shugo placed his chubby hands on Levon's shoulders.

Well, he was an open person.

"Buddy, don't ask me why, but I just think you and I are more likely to get along" At least compared to the others.

All 8 of them should not be unique in their rights; some with egos, others with lone priorities, and some... already having pairs.

Levon understood Shugo's thoughts.

Although discreet, the elegant book boy and the boy who is always working out, should already know each other.

Right from the bus they've been together.

Again, there was the gangster girl and her 2 lieutenants.

Those 3 are already a team.

Now, that leaves him—Levon, Shugo, and that mysterious girl with the ancient fan in her hand.

The girl looked to be a loner, unbothered with company.

In terms of personalities, Shugo felt Levon was more likely to accept his outgoing personality than the others, and he was right.

Levon knew Shugo's thoughts. Quite frankly, he didn't mind.

.

.

With a few more words and sentences, the duo understood each other's temperament.

Levon leaned on the wall, staring at the vast Assembly hall.

"What do you think? I think they are likely to serve us a meal before the examinations." Shugo spoke, chewing on his crunchy bar. "I don't think I can fuel right now on snacks alone. Food has got to be in here somewhere."

"Maybe."

However, they shouldn't be the first ones to find it... No?

Standing out too soon might prove problematic in the long run.

Levon slowly turned to face this new friend of his.

"You probably did well on your exams... You're from a wealthy home, one that has enough strength to say NO to the government's interest in you. So Why are you here?"

Why?

"What do you think? Of course, to become stronger!"

Shugo's answer rattled Levon.

"I assume you knew of this place earlier?"

Nodding and chewing a fat chunk of the crunchy bar in his mouth, Shugo swallowed in satisfaction.

"Well, now that you and I won't be able to venture into the outside world as we used to, I don't mind telling you one of my Family's secrets."

"There is a tradition in my Father that dates back centuries ago—one where they select and send a chosen person out into the Academy."

Shugo's voice grew distant and cold.

"What is odd, is that no one ever knows what happens to those who get sent here."

"Nothing is ever heard from them once they leave. I have always known that this was my fate. So why fight it?"

"Besides... I would rather know what sort of place this mysterious academy is, for it to make people from my Influential family vanish into thin air just like that."

Levon was amazed that even a powerful Family like Shugo's, has no choice but to follow and obey the orders from those acting from the shadows.

The more Levon learned, the more curious he was about what the government was doing with them.

There was something else he noticed.

'It's here!'

Touching his pockets, Levon felt his favorite lollipops safely kept away.

'They left Shugo's snacks on him, and my lollipops...'

Looking around, the elegant boy had his book, the lone girl had her sharp ancient fan, and Shugo had his favorite snacks and something extra on him too.

All 8 of them had things in their possession, but everyone else was bare, with nothing but their clothes and shoes on.

'Special treatment?'

Levon shrugged.

In his opinion, he was quite a ferocious person without his favorite Lollipops...

If he were to wake up and later realize that his favorite strawberry lollipop was not on him, all hell might truly break loose.

Chuckling, Levon thought it was funny how much they understood him.

.

.

While Levon and Shugo discussed, there was little movement from others.

Levon turned his head, raising a brow knowingly.

As expected, the mafia ladies had begun walking around.

It was incredible that when everyone else tried to find hidden doors or other ways out, they failed. But when these ladies moved, their gazes turned into steel, sharp and acute.

It didn't take long for them to find a massive hidden room behind a section of a wall.

There, everyone found meal boxes with their names on them.

Even if you steal a person's meal box, you can't open it up with the serial number tag around their wrists. They also found another door, which looked to lead to a small bathroom.

"Well bro, I'm turning in."

Slapping his belly, Shugo nodded in satisfaction. His portion of food allocated for him was practically 3 times that of others.

So far, he has been very pleased with this place.

If there was a place to leave reviews, he would give them 5 STARS for the food alone.

In under 40 seconds, Levon could hear Shugo's little snores.

However, his snores were engulfed and swallowed by the sounds of the sniffing, crying, and curses of many others.

Levon rolled his eyes heavenwards.

'How Foolish.'

Levon soon fell asleep.

He knew tonight would be uneventful.

Many were too scared to jump on others.

Even the boy who had his mouth widened, wouldn't dare attack Card girl Yimu for revenge tonight.

They all laid on their sleeping maps, too terrified for tomorrow's dawn.

Unbeknownst to them, several people had gathered in a partially lit space, to discuss their futures and other important matters.

Among these people was the annoying man who spoke to Levon's group via TV earlier.

His name, Roud Token.

.

.

"Roud, I'll ask you again: Aren't you supposed to be dealing with the mess you made in Sector 53?"

The one who asked was a man with spiky RED hair placed in a ponytail, red bushy eyebrows, and a black bandana that covered his forehead.

On his back was a long sword with a peculiar hook tip.

His name was Gaara, known by many as the red-haired Destroyer.

"Oh?"

Roud had a magnanimous expression, lifting his hands in defeat. "Now, now... let's not all get angry at the little old me here. How can you blame me for accidentally killing it? No one said to bring it back alive, right?"

BASTARD!

Veins popped out on Gaara's forehead.

"Bringing it alive... isn't that common sense? Dammit, Roud! Are you purposefully trying to tick us off? You—!"

"Enough." A calm voice bellowed from the forefront, seconds before Gaara could reach for his weapon.

What an imposing snare of authority....

In a millisecond, the atmosphere regained its calmness.

The man who spoke was an elderly man with an overly long gray beard, a completely bald head, and overly long eyebrows that reached his ankles.

"Is everything in order?"

"Yes, Order Head Zen."

"Good..." The Old man nodded. "This year must be far tougher than the other years, as per the orders of the Hillgarons. Besides... I need not remind you of what happened last year, right?"

Everyone nodded heavily with grim expressions when thinking of last year's dreadful event.

They will never let that happen, not this time... Not EVER!

This year, nothing can go wrong!
