Chapter 1117: Technology is Power

Zhang Yi's physics grades weren't great.

The things Lu Keran was explaining, he only half-understood; while he could grasp some of the technical terms, his overall comprehension was limited.

However, he did understand one thing.

"Keran, you're saying that if your ability can advance to a higher level, you can upgrade the building materials of the Shelter, making them tougher, even capable of withstanding impacts from Epsilon-level superhumans, right?"

Lu Keran seemed a bit lacking in confidence. "I... I can try."

"Even if it can't block Epsilon-level impacts, upgrading the Shelter's defenses is definitely possible!"

Yang Xinxin, however, fully grasped the meaning behind Lu Keran's words.

Her gaze burned intently as she stared at Lu Keran. "Keran, are you saying that if your ability becomes a bit stronger, you might even be able to alter the properties of matter?"

Lu Keran nodded. "It's not impossible!"

She clenched her fists excitedly. "If we could achieve that, then all the problems in this world could be perfectly solved!"

Zhang Yi began to understand what Lu Keran was getting at.

He asked, "You're not trying to tell me that you... want to attempt to change the microscopic structure of matter, thereby redefining the very existence of an object, are you?"

In the current field of science, the smallest observable particle is the quark.

Quarks combine to form protons and neutrons, and then protons, neutrons, and electrons combine to form atoms.

Simply put, all known fundamental particles of matter in this world are essentially the same.

If a person's superhuman ability could reach the microscopic realm, theoretically, they could arbitrarily change the properties of any substance.

In simple terms, it would be turning stone into gold.

Lu Keran's ability had already reached the molecular level. Her ambition was to go a step further, to attempt to reach an even deeper microscopic domain.

This idea was nothing short of insane!

Because if she truly succeeded, then material shortages would cease to exist in this world.

Turning stone into gold, transforming water into gasoline—these would become truly possible.

A flickering light danced in Zhang Yi's eyes; he was moved by Lu Keran's ambition.

While he didn't understand physics well, he understood Lu Keran.

She was a super-genius. Since this was what she wanted to do, it was only natural for Zhang Yi to support her.

Science and technology are the primary productive forces, no matter the era.

On the surface, Lu Keran seemed to only know how to tinker with machinery at home, unable to participate in combat directly.

But ever since she joined the Shelter, Zhang Yi had never fought a battle without her support from behind the scenes.

Zhang Yi crossed his hands, looking at Lu Keran with a gaze full of trust. "Keran, if you want to do it, then go for it! I'll support you unconditionally."

"I'll help you increase your superhuman ability index in the shortest time possible, to make your ability stronger."

"Let's all see if you can create a miracle!"

Lu Keran bit her lip in excitement, tears glistening in her eyes.

This was a genius idea, even a madman's idea.

In the past, anyone in the scientific community would have jumped out to denounce her as a daydreamer.

However, this was now a world that couldn't be measured by past scientific common sense.

An era of great mutation.

Every idea that seemed absurd in the past now had the potential to become reality!

"Brother, thank you!"

Lu Keran said with a nod, her eyes shimmering with an indescribable emotion.

Zhang Yi smiled. "Why thank me? Come with me later; I have something good for you."

Just as he was speaking, Zhang Yi's communication device suddenly rang.

He picked it up and saw it was Zhu Zheng calling.

Zhang Yi immediately realized that the commotion from what happened here must have been too big, attracting satellite attention, and naturally, it couldn't escape Zhu Zheng's notice.

Not just Zhu Zheng; even the East Sea Region could probably sense it.

After all, it was a battle between two Epsilon-level beings.

Zhang Yi glanced at Mu Yan, who immediately became alert and tightly closed her mouth.

Zhang Yi answered the call. On the other end, Zhu Zheng was wearing pajamas, seemingly just woken up.

"Zhang Yi, what happened over at Tianhai City? Someone just reported a huge disturbance there!"

Zhu Zheng asked with a smile, "Did you run into some trouble? Need my help?"

Zhang Yi took a deep breath, his face filled with worry as he said:

"It was a tsunami! A deep-sea giant beast, for some reason, suddenly attacked Tianhai City. But I've already driven it away."

Zhang Yi's face was etched with bewilderment, as if he couldn't understand why the sea beast would attack Tianhai City.

He didn't tell Zhu Zheng the truth.

Regarding the Dragon King, there were still many secrets hidden about him, and Zhang Yi didn't want others to know for now.

Otherwise, the higher-ups would surely wonder: how did the Dragon King survive, and how did he advance to Epsilon?

If they investigated further, it would bring Zhang Yi a lot of trouble.

Zhu Zheng frowned, his expression exceptionally serious. "Could it be related to Star Island?"

Zhang Yi nodded. "That's what I was thinking too. That place must be hiding some big secret. I just didn't expect it to still be hounding me."

By shifting the blame to the abyss of Star Island, neither Zhu Zheng nor Li Guangxiao could investigate further.

Because that was already beyond their capabilities.

Zhu Zheng pondered for a moment before saying to Zhang Yi, "This is indeed a very big problem. If the coast isn't safe, you can bring your family to live in Blizzard City."

Zhang Yi laughed. "Thank you for your kind offer, Commander Zhu. We're used to living here and don't want to leave. Besides, with me here, these problems are manageable."

Zhu Zheng nodded. "Alright then. If you need anything, you can always tell headquarters. You should know, you're someone I'm focusing on cultivating!"

Zhang Yi nodded with a smile, brushing it off with a casual laugh.

As for whether Zhu Zheng actually believed him or not, he didn't care. The Dragon King was already dead, and no one else would be able to investigate anything.

After ending the call, Zhang Yi looked at Mu Yan.

"Let's go, I should send you back."

Mu Yan secretly tightened her grip on the cup in her hand.

She didn't really want to go back. Although it was her first time visiting Zhang Yi's home, this place made her feel very comfortable.

It had the warmth of a home.

Unlike the cold and brutal Blizzard City.

But she still silently stood up from the sofa.

"You performed well this time. I'll remember it."

Zhang Yi said to her, then opened the Dimensional Gate.

Mu Yan nodded.

Zhang Yi added, "You're at squad leader level now. Although your strength is a bit lacking, Blizzard City is in need of people and won't make an example of you."

"From now on, perform well. If you satisfy me, I can ask Zhu Zheng for you."

Mu Yan's eyes lit up. She looked up at Zhang Yi, then nodded seriously.
