What’s more was the fact that even if the war horses didn’t need a rest, Xie Xuanchen also needed to go home. After all, he hadn’t seen Mu Mingtang for around 10 days now.
Now that most important military affairs were arranged and in place, he immediately left everyone else behind and went home as soon as he returned to the city. Xie Xuanchen galloped all the way to the mansion. The gatekeeper was startled when he saw a tall horse practically soaring in the night. Then, he looked closely and saw the figure of a man leaping off the horse. He was tall, long-legged and commanded an aura that was incomparably strong. Even though he couldn’t see his face clearly due to the darkness around them, he could feel the amazing aura exuding from his frame.
The gatekeeper was so suppressed by the murderous aura that he was speechless, “Yo-your Highness…You’ve returned?”
Xie Xuanchen responded with a hum and walked quickly into the house. He threw the horse’s reins to his servant and strode towards the inner courtyard.
“Where’s the Princess?”
“In the inner courtyard. I haven’t seen Her Highness exit for the day.”
Xie Xuanchen made his way to the door of the inner courtyard, startling all the servants. Honestly, he couldn’t blame them for their reactions. A man suddenly emerging from the darkness that wielded a murderous aura that was capable of killing would definitely be a surprise. Plus, on his waist was a sheathed sword that had been used to kill many. Faced with a figure like this, even the burliest of bandits would be afraid, let alone a bunch of servants whose tasks were only to serve.
When Xie Xuanchen saw that the door to the main room was closed and the lights were not turned on, he immediately frowned, “What happened inside?”
The servant was flustered by Xie Xuanchen’s gaze as she stuttered, “Her Highness is taking a bath. Please forgive my tardiness, Your Highness, but I will remind the Princess now…”
It turned out that she was taking a shower— no wonder it was dark around them. Xie Xuanchen understood and raised his hand to stop the servant’s movements, “No need for that, the lot of you can leave. If I don’t summon you, there is no need to come over.”
The servants immediately bowed their heads and left. Xie Xuanchen walked with a solemn expression and sharp eyes. When he opened the door, a mischievous smile suddenly appeared on his lips.
It seemed like it was a good thing for him to return early. Since she was currently in a bath, the timing couldn’t be any better.
Mu Mingtang didn’t expect Xie Xuanchen to come back that early. She was soaking her long hair in the bath when she suddenly felt a gust of wind behind her and no longer heard the pacing of the servants. She didn’t think much, merely assuming that the window was not closed tightly and a cold wind managed to blow in.
After waiting for a long time, she didn’t see the servants bringing the conditioner over. Thinking that it was a bit strange, she said, “Liu Xuan, bring the one with a blue henry aster scent.”
There were footsteps behind her. Mu Mingtang was wondering why Liu Xuan’s footsteps were a bit heavy today until she heard a man’s voice asking, “Which one is blue henry?”
