I'm Crushing on Gorgeous Faces in Variety Shows!-Chapter 268: Please Keep This Secret
It really is a direct question from a straight guy. Isn’t this something we all silently acknowledge?
Mu Qiu silently looked back, "Brother Huai, do you really need a direct answer?"
Even if everyone knows the secret, isn’t it better just to act as if you don’t?
Alright, understood, Shi Yuhuai nodded to show he got it, then unexpectedly asked another very direct question.
"Wouldn’t it be awkward if you broke up? Especially if you’re going to be on a show together."
"......"
Even Guan Yu couldn’t stand listening anymore, "Brother Huai, although everyone knows you’re genuinely curious about the answer, asking like this is really kind of direct-guy-like."
Shu Ran: "It’s extremely direct-guy-like."
Even Shi Yuhuai frowned slightly, feeling a bit uncomfortable: "I mean, what do you guys think?"
Cheng Zhirang raised an eyebrow, shifting his gaze to Mu Qiu.
If they weren’t already on the show together for several episodes, and if she didn’t know Shi Yuhuai fairly well, Mu Qiu would have thought this question was slightly deliberate.
But the one asking the question happened to be Shi Yuhuai, a well-known straight guy.
Straight guys, these creatures, can sometimes be like children, catching hold of a problem, simply wanting to know the answer.
She finished the last sip of her soy milk, and Cheng Zhirang conveniently handed over a tissue.
"Thanks," she said, wiping her mouth, preparing to have a good talk with this straight guy, Shi Yuhuai.
"Brother Huai, when adults develop feelings, what else can they do? If it’s right, be together; if not, just part ways. Wouldn’t it be a pity to miss out by being overly cautious?"
"But you’ve only known each other for a month."
"People can fall in love at first sight, why not in a month?"
Shi Yuhuai choked, "Okay."
But still felt it was quite inappropriate.
Mu Qiu glanced at him and sighed inwardly.
Well, now everything is out in the open.
The plan was not to tell anyone, so it wouldn’t affect Cheng Zhirang’s progress.
She looked at Cheng Zhirang with a cat-guilty expression, trying to seek some redemption.
Cheng Zhirang smiled, his gaze shifting to the others, his tone polite yet with a hint of gentlemanliness, "Please keep it confidential, it’s not the best time to make it public yet."
Once he spoke, it was confirmed.
Shu Ran raised her well-groomed eyebrow knowingly and exchanged a glance with Guan Yu.
Guan Yu: "I’ve got to say, Brother Cheng, you guys are daring."
Don’t know whether to say Cheng Zhirang is boldly moving forward despite potential backlash from losing fans.
Or that Mu Qiu, as a regular person, having a relationship with a top male actor when private fans broke through her door, is even bolder.
Mu Qiu was non-committal and shrugged.
"Let’s go," Shi Yuhuai threw the trash into the bin and said, "The assistant is rushing us."
Cheng Zhirang pulled his hat down and walked towards the wind’s direction, softly saying to Mu Qiu, "Let’s go."
Before the travelers coming to clock in at the Ancient City were let in, the show’s crew and five of them prepared to leave together.
Their cars and assistants were parked in the hotel’s underground parking lot, Mu Qiu didn’t have much to pack, so she followed them empty-handed.
Cheng Zhirang walked behind her, pushing her small suitcase.
The deep green long-legged plush monkey originally hanging on it was vigilantly taken down by Mu Qiu and hung on her hoodie drawstring.
She initially planned to leave by herself in a taxi, but Cheng Zhirang proposed to send her home, saying he’d go with her.
However, her "go" referred to returning to Yun City, she didn’t expect him to send her to Yishan District.
Mu Qiu explained to him, depicting her and Zhao Yu’s friendship yet not meeting for a long time in a tear-provoking manner.
Though a bit stunned, Cheng Zhirang was also concerned she might be tracked by reporters or paparazzi when going out, but in the end, he respected her decision.
He even asked her if she wanted him to accompany her.
Yun City seemed to be Mu Qiu’s last backup base, a place not easily intruded by outsiders, she honestly declined.
After speaking, she started worrying whether saying a firm "no" to her boyfriend might upset him.
Cheng Zhirang, as if knowing her mental activity, turned to comfort her.
He said, "It’s okay, everyone has places they don’t want to share, but if there’s an opportunity in the future, I’m waiting for you to take me there yourself."
This is the benefit of a mature man, solving problems rationally, reducing conflicts without making the other feel uncomfortable.
And even if discussions don’t work out, he could still help carry luggage when going out, thoughtfully caring for her feelings.
There seems to be no anger or sulking happening with him.
After getting in the car, Mu Qiu realized that the driver wasn’t the usual Assistant Wen.
"Why change assistants for driving?" she asked softly as she settled in.
Cheng Zhirang closed the door, his long legs bending almost to the backrest of the front seat, his waist slightly sinked as he leaned back casually.
"This is my other private assistant, surname Liang."
The middle-aged man wearing a mask in front turned his head and nodded at her.
Mu Qiu nodded back.
She didn’t expect them to be this smooth, Cheng Zhirang introduced him and he turned around, seemingly waiting for this flow all along.
After introducing this assistant, Cheng Zhirang continued answering her, "Assistant Wen is busy at the studio with other matters, Liang Assistant will be with me lately." 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
Mu Qiu responded with an ’Oh’.
This Liang Assistant seems quite unusual, and considering the actions of him and Assistant Wen, Cheng Zhirang’s tone felt like it implied—
Assistant Wen, that fool, wasn’t qualified so I’ve sent him to a training program for a remake, temporarily replaced by this more competent one.
She delighted in her own deduction, wanting to laugh.
She glanced at the assistant’s rear head and then at Cheng Zhirang casually posing sitting style, feeling no mistake in her thinking.
Though Cheng Zhirang wouldn’t be one to call someone a fool.
... probably wouldn’t say it?
The car began to leave the underground parking lot, mingled with the other vehicles of the show, unaware of who was in front or behind.
Just as it went out, there was a flurry of noise outside, turning into screams mixed with camera shutter sounds, the soundwaves deafening.
The exit of the underground parking lot was actually crowded with people.
The car window had a one-way film, but Mu Qiu lowered her eyes to put on her mask, lowered her head and didn’t look outside.
The previous episodes’ recording locations were mostly exclusively booked by the production team.
Even the last episode’s Little Paradise of Yun City, the places for games were booked, and those who could visit Little Paradise were mostly not fervent star-chasers, so she hadn’t seen this scale before.
The production team could book venues and hotels, but couldn’t book tourist spots, there’s no way around it.
People were crowded outside, the car moved slowly, she could still hear fans outside crazily shouting their idol’s names.
The loudest call was for Cheng Zhirang, followed by Shi Yuhuai and Shu Ran, also cheers for Mu Qiu and Guan Yu being called the strongest combo.
Even some offline fans persistently chased the car shouting Li Yang’s name.
Fortunately, there were rational fans, quickly calming others down, stopping people from approaching the vehicle.
"The car in the middle should be Brother’s! Just take a look and let them rest!"
