Chapter 131: Vance Arden...?

Now we had another problem—a change of clothes.

We couldn’t exactly wear the same thing we had on when we first arrived...

The two of us had gotten... a bit out of control for that to even be an option anymore, and it’s not like Evelina can just use another [Quick Change] to fix it.

[Quick Change] is called that for a reason; without a spare outfit, it doesn’t even work—unless, of course, she still had one left.

But...

A few hours is still a few hours, and we’ve definitely gone through everything—even the clothing she’d stored for convenience.

Huh...

"You look like you’re in trouble..."

Evelina weakly chuckled, struggling to sit up on the bed, wincing slightly at every movement she made.

She touched my shoulder, instantly reading my mind to what had been the cause.

"Clothes... really?"

"I’m not really concerned—just curious," I reply cheekily.

But... eh, we can both just teleport to our respective estates and dorms. Still, with how defended and crowded the academy is right now, slipping in and out would be a hassle. If anything goes wrong, well... it would be a PR nightmare.

Even her own estate might not be an option. The D’Arclight mansion was way too staffed for her to move around unnoticed. Servants, guards, and who knows how many eyes in the walls, same problem as in the academy.

"Guess I’ll be visiting your home again..."

She had read my mind, both literally and metaphorically.

But before anything else could happen, she placed a hand on her stomach, an obvious magical signature filling the air.

[Lust Crest]

Yeah, that’s to be expected.

"You look disappointed."

"I’m sure you know why."

Evelina just smirked, brushing a strand of hair that stuck to her face.

"Give it a few more years. I’d rather enjoy the peak of my life without the burden of children for now, no matter how much I love you."

She moved closer to me on the bed and kissed me on the lips—this one calmer, more romantic, and more loving than the kisses we’d shared before. I guess I could call this aftercare?

"We should go before anyone starts worrying about us."

"You’re way too perfect for anyone to worry about you, you’re too competent for that."

"Oh, shut it!"

She swatted at my shoulder as the ground and curtains around us began to warp—partly from me starting the teleportation, and partly from Evelina ending her divine manipulation that maintained the beautiful façade.

[Profaned Step]

*** Arden Estate - Cael’s Room

We reappeared in my room, and to our surprise, it was already night.

I took a glance at the clock for more information... and that really emphasized how much we overdid it.

[9:32]

Even if I generously say we started in the afternoon, that’s still a lot of time to spend together, and I’m not sure if I should be proud or genuinely concerned.

Who am I kidding? I’d do this forever if it meant staying close to her.

"It’s already nine?!" Evelina looked at the clock, though her tone was more amused than worried.

It wasn’t as if her father or the faculty would worry about her health. They knew full well how tough Evelina was; a day-long disappearance was no different to them than when she formally requested a day off.

She just shook her head and walked to my wardrobe. She already owned me after all, that included my wardrobe now apparently.

"Can’t believe you made me wear my academy and nurse uniform while we were doing it..."

She slyly glanced back at me over her shoulder, the motion drawing my eyes to the tantalizing curve of her bare back, smooth and flawless.

D-Damn...

Wait...!

Get yourself together!

We’d just done it for literally half a day; even a goddess like her still needed to rest to maintain such otherworldly beauty.

Her soft, melodic laugh snapped me out of my haze as she moved to put on the clothes she’d grabbed from my wardrobe, a simple collared shirt and pants. Not like I had anything actually fitted for women.

But it sure as hell didn’t take away from her allure. If anything, the loose shirt teased the lines of her figure, and the pants hugged her hips just enough to drive me crazy.

Masculine attire really did suit her...

"Here."

She tossed me my own clothes as her own magic flared out again, this time something new. Why does a succubus even have all of this cleaning magic?

[Rejuvenation]

"Unfortunately, this magic only works on me, so you still have to do with showering... or?"

She sauntered towards me, placing one hand on my bare chest.

[Vital Rinse]

"Unless you want me to wash you like last time?"

"Well, if you’re offering..."

THUD-CRACK!

A sudden crash echoed from the foyer. The clatter of a dropped tray and several shattering glasses, followed at once by a chorus of gasps and startled cries.

"What could that be?"

I looked toward the general direction.

[Soul Sense]

And...

F-Father?

*** Arden Estate - Foyer (Third Person POV)

"M-My lord! You have returned from the frontier!"

The head maid, Rose, took a sudden step back—the same step that had caused the noise in the first place. She was shocked; he wasn’t supposed to return for another five months.

He was meant to be busy managing the Arden barony near the Highwood border, stabilizing the region against rebel dwarves who had fled the dwarven kingdom and were now using Highwood as their new base of operations.

So... why was he here of all places?

Unless he somehow had finished his task five months in advance...?

"That seems to be an over-the-top reaction..."

Vance—Vance Arden—scratched the back of his head and let out an awkward laugh, not expecting the head maid to be so shocked at seeing him that she literally dropped a tray full of glass.

’I mean... this is my home, right?’

Vance thought to himself. Surely it shouldn’t be that shocking that he’s here.

"Anyway, is Cael here?"

"I-I’m afraid not, my lord. He’s currently undergoing the examination—"

Vance silenced Rose before she could continue, his ears perking as he looked upstairs through the marble walls. He had heard something... subtle, but undeniably his son. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

But more interestingly... a girl?

"Seems like Cael slipped past you, Lady Rose."

He smirked. Had his boy really grown up so quickly while he was gone? Already bringing girls to the estate without telling him beforehand?

But Rose could only stare in shock. Cael!? Was Cael actually inside the estate, and she hadn’t known?

But more importantly, how in the world had his lord managed to discern that? He was never the type to have particularly good hearing.

Unless of course...

Yeah, something had definitely happened in Highwood.
