I'm in Love with the Villainess!-Chapter 150: Possessed by Black Flames
Let it burn.
I...
What...?
What was I doing again?
I looked around, but all I saw was darkness. An all-consuming void that seemed to devour everything but me.
I was the only thing alive, the only presence, the only constant.
And yet... something else appeared.
A throne—familiar yet foreign—with someone sitting on it.
Beelzebub, the strongest demon prince of hell, sat there, and the path that led to him, a road of black flames that seemed to urge me on. There was nothing else I could do.
So, of course, I stepped onto it.
And...
*** Third Person POV
The moment Cael stood up, everything erupted into black flames. Nothing was spared: the walls, the turrets, the air itself. Even Fiona’s body began to crumble into ash as an unnatural, unending fire devoured everything from within.
The leaders of the Shadow Society, watching from outside, knew they had done something they never should have.
But by then, they no longer cared.
They had the Eye.
"I’ll handle him."
"Lord Monarch, you have arrived!"
A figure wreathed in violet light and shadow entered the room, his left eye overflowing with chaotic and divine power. The same light that once bathed the figure in the chamber where they had trapped him.
"All of you, get out. If you can’t teleport, have someone else take you. It’s time for me to test this newfound strength."
The rest obeyed at once, each one blinking out of existence in a rush. In the end, only the Shadow Society’s Lord Monarch remained.
A light mage who had recently broken through to the master level—the mastermind of the entire operation—now bathed in the power of gods and devils.
"So this is Subject 13? I expected more from someone my scouts described as a monster."
The Monarch laughed. Cael had been in the Shadow Society’s sights ever since they first sensed something strange emanating from the academy.
At first, it was only a faint demonic presence, then suddenly, something divine.
It didn’t take them long to track the source and, eventually, capture him. In truth, they hardly had to try. He came to them of his own accord.
[Profaned Judgement]
"I’ll give you a quick end."
The Monarch flooded the entire lower district with violet light, so intense that it even pierced into the district above.
But before he could unleash the spell that could level the entire area—
[Black Sun]
FWOOSH!
A torrent of black flames suddenly erupted from within the chamber, completely melting the reinforced metal as it unleashed a devastating wave of heat toward the Monarch.
[Profaned Guardian]
"Incredible..."
The Monarch laughed, splitting the black flames down the middle as he stood unfazed by the destruction.
And now... to the figure walking among it.
"You should join me—"
[Endless Fang]
[Eclipse Immolation]
The Monarch’s eyes widened as he sensed the lethal danger aimed straight at him. His mind instinctively reached for [Profaned Step], trying to teleport away, but just like before, he couldn’t react in time.
[Requiem]
A portion of the Monarch’s head immediately detonated, erupting into a mass of black flames. Fortunately for him, it didn’t damage any critical part of his mind.
[Profaned Healing]
The Monarch quickly retreated, gliding back using liquid darkness while keeping his eyes fixed on the awakened Cael.
"W-What...? What was that?"
He muttered, continuing to watch the figure advance toward him, appearing smaller and smaller the farther away he moved.
[Black Threnody]
Fiery, dark pillars erupted all around the Monarch, linking together until they formed the shape of a star when seen from above.
The Monarch instantly understood: if he couldn’t escape the center, he was dead.
[Profaned Night Call]
Instead of fleeing, he tried to overpower the pillars with sheer force. Even if he moved as fast as he could, they remained fixed on him, locking onto his position as if the space around him had been sealed.
Rain began to pour over the ruined underground city.
Clouds gathered above the Monarch as he moved, casting spells both to escape from Cael and to destroy the pillars that hounded him.
But even when the corrosive rain struck them, the pillars refused to die out. They only glowed brighter and brighter, drawing closer with every passing moment.
And to make matters worse—
[Endless Fang]
[Cursed Serpent]
Cael was closing in fast, standing atop the unnatural sword the Monarch had read about in reports, guided by a serpent coiled around the blade—one that burned with the same black flame he now wielded.
Cael twisted his body mid-air as he dismounted the sword, catching it by the handle and hurling it toward the Monarch.
[Profaned Manipulation]
The Monarch tried to block the sword with a clump of violet mass, but the blade tore straight through it.
SLASH!
It sank deep into his abdomen. His profaned healing struggled to patch the wound, the sword absorbing his magic every time he tried to heal.
"F-Fuck!"
The Monarch changed priorities, stopping near a large open area where multiple tunnels converged.
He decided this would be where he ended the fight. Or else the continuously closing pillars of flame would do it for him.
"S-Should be big enough to go all out."
His eyes scanned the surroundings, but he was immediately forced back to reality when Cael appeared in front of him, another copy of [Endless Fang] in his hands as he delivered slice after slice.
"Die, die, die, die."
Cael chanted like he was in a trance, relentlessly overwhelming the Monarch before he could even attempt a counterattack.
BOOM!
SLASH!
BANG!
The Monarch was pushed back with every strike, Cael firmly controlling the tempo of the battle.
"Aren’t you supposed to be a student!?"
SLASH!
He screamed as the sword cleaved through his right arm, leaving an unhealable wound as he continued to retreat.
[Profaned Prince]
"Freeze!"
He commanded—but nothing happened. Instead, he received a clean cut across the middle of his lip, which would have split his entire mouth open if he hadn’t dodged quickly enough.
He wasn’t fighting a human who would obey commands.
He was fighting a vessel whose host was on vacation.
