I'm the Owner of the Pokémon Day Care In the World of Pokémon-Chapter 1413: What Lance Was Searching For
Chapter 1413 - What Lance Was Searching For
The day after receiving a message from Wallace, Yuga quietly left Verdanturf Town and set off riding Dragonite toward Oldale Town.
Oldale Town was originally quite close to Verdanturf Town, so Yuga arrived at his destination almost without spending much time at all.
Upon arriving in Oldale Town, Yuga went to a park in town. According to the information Wallace had provided, someone would be coming here to rendezvous with him.
After taking a brief walk around the park, Yuga quickly found the bench near the lawn that Wallace had mentioned, and so he sat down on it.
He was holding a bottle of soda in his hand—this was the rendezvous signal. Once the contact saw the signal, they would reveal themselves.
Just as Yuga was growing bored waiting for the contact, he suddenly sensed a subtle movement behind him, and a pair of hands silently reached out from behind.
Yuga warily grabbed the hand and yanked it forward forcefully, and immediately heard a small cry from behind him.
"Ah—ouch!"
Yuga turned around and saw a girl wearing a long trench coat and sunglasses, gritting her teeth and glaring at him.
"You're..." Yuga frowned and quickly let go of her hand, thinking: Could this be the contact?
"Big bro, why are you so rough!" the girl said in a playful, petulant tone.
Wait a second... why did that voice sound so familiar?
"You're... Luna?" Yuga suddenly came to a realization and asked.
The girl pulled down her sunglasses. "I've only been away from home for a few days and you already don't recognize me?"
"But your face..." looked nothing like Luna at all.
Luna laughed and said, "I'm currently carrying out a mission, of course I had to put on a disguise!" As she spoke, she put the sunglasses back on.
"That makes sense," Yuga nodded in agreement, silently admiring how skilled the League was at disguise tactics! Also, if the contact was Luna, then what was the point of the soda signal in his hand?
"Come on, let's talk somewhere else."
Luna naturally looped her arm through Yuga's, then pulled out a matching pair of sunglasses and put them on Yuga. The two of them walked together intimately, just like a young couple in love.
Under Luna's guidance, Yuga arrived at a house on the west side of Oldale Town. According to her, it was a secret base of the League's Investigation Bureau. Yuga also keenly noticed that there were some hidden people lurking in the shadows of the place.
After arriving there, Luna no longer needed her disguise. She went to wash her face quickly, and when she reappeared in front of Yuga, she had returned to being the familiar cousin he knew.
Since Yuga came to the Pokémon world over a decade ago, Luna had grown from the mischievous little girl she once was into a graceful and elegant young lady.
Sixteen-year-old Luna had officially come of age. She had a tall figure nearly 1.7 meters in height, short, neat hair paired with a delicate face, and the capable temperament she had developed from being in the Investigation Bureau for so long.
Looking at this heroic and energetic Luna, Yuga was momentarily dazed.
Luna didn't waste time talking. After tidying herself up briefly, she began explaining to Yuga the movements of Lance.
Lance had already been in Oldale Town for four days. Luna and her team had been secretly tracking him the entire time, but according to Luna, it seemed Lance had discovered them yesterday and might leave Oldale Town as soon as today.
In other words, if Yuga had arrived even a day later, they might have lost track of Lance.
The League was currently going through a turbulent period, and there were endless areas in need of manpower. The Investigation Bureau was also facing a shortage of personnel. If it weren't for the fact that they didn't have the strength to apprehend Lance themselves, they wouldn't have needed to wait for Yuga at all.
"Where is he now?" Yuga asked.
"He's in an inn in town. We also discovered that recently he seems to be inquiring about something, but our people didn't dare get too close, so we weren't able to find out what he was asking about in town," Luna explained.
Just then, a young man knocked on the door and entered, saying to Luna, "Captain, there's movement on Lance's side. He went alone to a village south of the town."
After receiving the protective suit gifted by Yuga, Luna had made repeated achievements in the Investigation Bureau. Now, at a young age, she was already a team captain.
"Looks like Lance has found what he was looking for," Yuga said thoughtfully. "Alright, I'll go apprehend Lance. You guys take some people and capture his subordinates. No problem, right?"
Lance hadn't come to Oldale Town alone. Several other members of Team Rocket had come with him. No matter what purpose they had for coming here, as long as they were captured, everything could be sorted out.
"No problem. Leave it to us!" Luna promised. The only one they were cautious of was Lance—those other people were just small fry.
"Then it's settled!" Yuga clapped his hands and then pointed at the young man. "You'll be the one to lead me there!"
"Yes, sir!" The young man beamed, flashing a wide set of white teeth and giving Yuga a sharp salute, looking extremely excited.
Very soon, the investigation team had assembled their personnel, and they split into two groups to take action alongside Yuga.
With the young man leading the way, Yuga quickly arrived near the village where Lance was located.
During their conversation on the way, Yuga learned the young man's name—Truman. He was the deputy captain of Luna's team.
At that moment, other members of the investigation squad were also surveilling Lance near the village.
Once the groups met up, Truman asked his teammate, "Where is Lance now?"
The teammate replied, "He went into the village chief's house. He's been in there for a while now. There hasn't been any sound from inside. We didn't dare get too close, so we don't know what's happening in there."
Yuga thought for a moment and said, "You all stay here. I'll go take a look."
As soon as Yuga finished speaking, Gengar appeared by his side, and at the same time, his own figure slowly vanished into thin air.
The members of the investigation team all stared in shock, mouths agape at the sight.
After being invisible, Yuga and Gengar approached the village chief's house. Everything around was eerily quiet, as if no one were home.
However, Yuga and Gengar immediately spotted the Crobat hanging under the eaves of the village chief's house. Clearly, Lance had released it as a guard.
Just as Yuga and Gengar spotted the Crobat, the Crobat picked up on the sound of their presence.
But Yuga and Gengar had experience dealing with Crobat. Before it could raise an alarm, Gengar cast Hypnosis, putting it into a deep sleep, then caught the falling Crobat with Psychic to keep it from hitting the ground and making a noise.
The Crobat wasn't very high-level, so Gengar handled it without much trouble.
With Crobat dealt with, Yuga and Gengar silently entered the courtyard of the village chief's house and peered through the window at the scene inside.
They saw the entire village chief's family tied up with rope, their mouths gagged, explaining the total silence from the house.
The village chief, a man in his fifties or sixties, was forced to kneel in front of Lance. Only his mouth was not gagged.
"Are you going to talk or not?" Lance questioned the village chief harshly.
"Sir, I already told you, the thing you're looking for really isn't in my hands! A few years ago, a group of people broke into my house and stole it!" the village chief said, kowtowing as he spoke to Lance.
"You think I'm going to believe that? Then tell me, who were these people? What did they look like?"
The village chief was speechless. How could he possibly know? That group had come in the middle of the night, and he had stayed silent out of fear, pretending he didn't know anyone had entered. Now Lance wanted to know who they were and what they looked like? How could he possibly answer?
Unfortunately, even though he was telling the truth, Lance didn't believe him, thinking he was making up lies.
To be honest, the item had been passed down through the chief's family for generations. He didn't even know what it was for. If he really still had it, there was no way he would endanger his family by hiding it.
"See? You can't say anything!" Lance sneered.
As he spoke, he ordered his Victreebel to lash the village chief's grandson with a Vine Whip.
"Sir, no!" the village chief cried out.
His other family members also looked on in horror, trying to stop Lance, but they were tied up too tightly to move.
With a sharp smack, Victreebel's vine whipped across the body of the village chief's grandson, who was not even ten years old. Even Yuga outside the window was startled by Lance's cruelty.
The young boy whimpered in pain from the lash, but with his mouth stuffed, all he could produce were faint moans.
"Still won't talk?" Lance glared viciously at the village chief.
"Sir, I really don't know. I beg you, please have mercy and let us go!" the village chief pleaded over and over.
"Still won't talk?" Lance said again, pressing him coldly.
Lance ordered Victreebel's vine whip to lash out at the little boy again, but Yuga couldn't bear to watch any longer. How could such a young child withstand repeated whipping like that?
Just as Victreebel's vine whip was about to strike, it was suddenly frozen in mid-air by Gengar's psychic power—it couldn't come down no matter how hard it tried.
"Who's there?"
Lance shouted in a low voice.
Yuga didn't hide any longer. He kicked the door open and strode inside.
With a loud bang, Lance's Victreebel was sent flying by Gengar's sudden sneak attack, crashing into the wall of the village chief's house and blasting a big hole in it.
After knocking Victreebel away, Gengar, following Yuga's instructions, quickly picked up the village chief's little grandson and shielded the chief's entire family behind him to prevent them from being taken hostage by Lance.
Lance was shocked by the sudden turn of events, his mouth gaping open. When he saw clearly who had come through the door, he stammered in disbelief, "Sh–Shimizu Yuga?!"
It was no surprise that he was so terrified. After all, Yuga had just recently captured Milolovide!
Originally, Lance had planned to ask Milolovide for help with his mission in the Hoenn region this time. But suddenly, he was informed by Giovanni that Milolovide had been captured by Shimizu Yuga.
When he learned the news, Lance was stunned for a long time. Milolovide was one of the Rocket Team's strongest Trainers, second only to Giovanni!
He had reminded himself over and over again to act cautiously, to avoid drawing Shimizu Yuga's attention, and most importantly, not to encounter him.
But no matter how carefully he planned, he still couldn't escape this fate!
"Hello, Lance!"
Yuga greeted him with a bright smile.
At this point, the village chief's family still didn't understand what was going on and stood there dazed and dumbfounded.
Upon hearing Yuga's voice, Lance instinctively took two steps back, looking as if he had seen a ghost.
"I didn't expect I was such a big deal that the League would actually send someone like you to capture me!" Lance gulped and spoke in a dry tone.
Hearing Lance refer to Yuga as someone from the League, the village chief who is hiding behind Gengar, finally let go of his fear. They could tell that the man called Lance was deeply afraid of the newcomer.
While Lance was talking, he secretly released an Alakazam, intending to have it use Teleport to help him escape. He had no intention of fighting Yuga head-on—that would be suicide.
However, Yuga had already noticed his movement. Just as Alakazam was about to use Teleport, Mismagius silently appeared above them and cast a large black eye projection over them.
Alakazam's Teleport was interrupted.
Seeing his escape plan fail, Lance's face turned grim.
"Trying to run? Are you really that scared of me?"
Yuga looked at Lance with a half-smile.
"W-Who's running?! Who's scared of you?!"
Lance barked with a shaky voice, obviously trying to save face. He couldn't admit it—how embarrassing would that be? "Alakazam, Psychic!"
The next moment, he commanded Alakazam to launch a psychic attack on Yuga. Since he couldn't run, he had no choice but to fight!
"Mismagius, Mystical Fire!" freёweɓnovel.com
Mismagius conjured a dazzling flame that clashed with Alakazam's Psychic and instantly blasted Alakazam away. It landed outside the house, landing right next to the fallen Victreebel.
Alakazam was Lance's go-to escape Pokémon, and its combat power naturally had its shortcomings. Lance deeply regretted that his three legendary birds had been lost in Ultra Space. If they were here, maybe he could have put up a real fight.
His three legendary birds weren't clones—they were genuine legendary Pokémon personally assigned to him by Giovanni to help open the Ultra Space.
Taking advantage of the time gap while Alakazam was defeated, Lance released his Weezing and Arbok. But just as these two Pokémon appeared, they were immediately met with a head-on strike from Mismagius.
Two Shadow Balls, each larger than their heads, struck them squarely, and the two Pokémon, off to a bad start, cried out in pain.
While Mismagius was fighting Lance's two Pokémon, Yuga called over Truman and his teammates, instructing them to take the village chief's family out for medical treatment—especially the little boy, whose injuries were quite severe. If he didn't get treated in time, he might not make it.
The village chief's family expressed deep gratitude as they left with Truman and the others.
With his hands free now, Gengar joined the battle. Once Gengar and Mismagius teamed up, Lance's two Pokémon stood no chance. They were defeated in just a few rounds.
Watching his strongest two Pokémon get taken down so easily, Lance's face went blank, and he gave up resisting.
Once Lance was dealt with, Yuga called Luna on the phone. Coincidentally, they had also completed their mission—the few Rocket Team members left behind at the inn had been captured in one fell swoop.
The next step was interrogation. The most urgent task was to find out from Lance where Phoebe was.
But that part was the investigation team's job—Yuga didn't get involved. After all, it wasn't his area of expertise. After handing Lance over to the investigation team, he headed to the hospital to visit the village chief's family.
He was quite curious about what it was that Lance—or rather, the Rocket Team—was trying to obtain from the village chief.
