I'm Trying To Go Broke, So Why Do I Keep Getting Richer?!-Chapter 167: Whereabouts of the Bald Sage
Both the prisoners had been freed by Leo. They now had a new title... They were Construction Project Managers, each controlling the construction of half the city that Leo had planned.
Without even realising, the two had settled into their rule like cheese on a delicious pizza.
"Can this wait? I was in the middle of concreting..." Yang said, his clothes stained by the traces of dried cement.
He looked a little impatient as he was in the middle of something important when he was called here.
Initially, he felt a little out of place when he first took over the construction. But now that some time had passed, and he saw his vision taking shape, even he was starting to enjoy it.
For most of his life, he was immersed in cultivating his inner strength. It was either that, or he was fighting, and destroying his surroundings as a collateral in the aftermath.
Until now, he had only known the feeling of destroying things. But it was the first time he was creating something. It was certainly an interesting feeling for him, as he really looked forward to the time when his projects were completed.
More than that, he was looking forward to seeing his mage friend crying when the winner was decided.
"I can’t do anything about it. As per the union rules, you can’t work constantly. You must take a break, or they will shut down the entire project for exploiting workers." Leo shrugged, innocently making up an excuse.
Even he hadn’t expected them to become addicted to construction. He even wondered if he had awakened some strange addiction inside the two.
"Who dares to shut down the construction? I will kill them!" Yang’s eyes burned in fury. "Just tell me their names."
’I can see why he was locked up in that prison,’ Leo thought, scratching his temple.
He took a deep breath, and explained calmly, "You don’t have to go that far. Even if you’re strong, we can’t fight the entire universe alone. If we do that, it won’t be long before we are locked up in some prison again."
"That’s right. Do you think a barbarian will understand the words of a sane man? All he thinks about is fighting and killing," Ulen, the mage, laughed dryly.
"Are you calling me a barbarian?" Yang glared at Ulen.
"No, I’m calling him a sane person," Ulen pointed at Leo, shrugging his shoulders.
"Oh, for a moment I thought you were calling me a barbarian," Yang crossed his arms, nodding in satisfaction. "My bad. You can continue."
Ulen shook his head lightly, as he asked Leo, "So can you explain why you called us here. Also, why are you dressed so funny?"
"Cough," Leo ignored the last comment, and explained, "As I said, the construction has to be stopped for a few days. Everyone will be on break. So I arranged for a special activity to ensure that you two aren’t bored in the meantime."
"An activity? Are we finally going to find the Bald Sage?" Yang asked, his eyes finally lighting up.
"That’s partially correct. I received news from a reliable source about the Bald Sage’s whereabouts," Leo went with the story to convince Yang.
"As per the information, an item related to the bald sage has been found, which can be used to detect him. Unfortunately, the item is currently in the treasury of an enemy...."
As he continued, the story spiralled out even more. He explained to everyone about the Lionel Family, and how they were the reason behind him being locked up in that prison.
Yang’s expressions darkened when he heard how the Lionel Family had sent people to kill innocent researchers that worked for Leo, all because they were greedy about some items.
"Such vile people... No matter the era, there’s no lack of such evil people..." Even Ulen couldn’t help but be disgusted.
"So are we going to kill them and rob their treasury?" he asked, slightly suspicious about Leo’s intentions.
Wasn’t it too convenient that the person that found the item of the bald sage was an enemy of Leo?
Honestly, he didn’t care about taking out such evil people. He just didn’t want to be manipulated.
"No. Even if they are vile people... I don’t want to kill them. At least, not by using your strength..." Leo explained, his voice filled with sincerity.
What he didn’t explain was that even if he took their help, it was more or less impossible to destroy that family, especially in their home planet which was no less secure than a high planet because of their wealth.
Another reason was because he simply didn’t want them to have an easy way out.
Now that he was on the last stretch of his plan of bringing them down to the level of poverty never seen before by them, he couldn’t let the fun be ruined.
"We will just enter their treasury, take that one item, and leave..." Leo raised his face, which looked quite funny with the moustache as he said, "Come on, does this look like the face of a liar?"
"Hmm... You do look like you’re serious..." Ulen nodded, feeling extremely disappointed at himself.
It was the second time he had been suspicious of Leo, even though this person had genuinely helped them. He really felt ashamed in his suspicious mind.
"I will help you in that case. After all, it sounds fun," the mage said, his fingers brushing through his long beard.
"Good. In that case..." Leo clapped his hand, and immediately the door opened.
A bunch of girls entered the office. They dragged Ulen and Yang outside, and started putting makeup on their faces.
They also brought out new clothes, for them to change into.
"Wait, why do we need to disguise ourselves? It’s not as if anyone recognizes us?" The old man exclaimed, but his complaints were ignored.
Meanwhile, Yang also looked in disbelief, as his hairstyle was changed by the hair stylist, making him look like a person of the modern era.
"Better safe than sorry, isn’t that right?" Leo stood in the back, watching the two warlord level characters being styled.
