I'm Trying To Go Broke, So Why Do I Keep Getting Richer?!-Chapter 220: Escape or not
As the door opened, it revealed a woman, dressed in a long red gown with a charming face. Her flaming red hair came down to her waist, complimenting her dress.
She was followed by two other women that appeared to be in a maid’s uniform.
The red haired woman stepped inside the room, only to be taken aback when she saw that the room was completely empty. To her surprise, there was not a single person on the bed.
The blanket was lying on the floor, making it obvious that someone had definitely been here.
"Did he leave?" she asked, taking a step outside the room, looking at the guards that were stationed outside.
"No one stepped out of the room. We have been keeping watch all this time." The guards looked confused as they answered.
The red haired woman frowned and ordered them, "Check under the bed."
The guards did as they were asked. One of them went forward and bent down, checking under the bed. However, it was also empty.
"He is not here either."
Hearing the answer of the guards, the red haired woman couldn’t help but frown.
"How strange..." She mumbled, out loud. "Was he also one of those otherworlders? That’s why I tell that brat to not bring any random person inside!"
The woman turned around, her expressions growing grim.
"Check the entire mansion. Make sure that the person isn’t hiding inside. If he is actually an otherworlder, he might be dangerous!"
The guards followed suit and rushed out of the room as well. Before long, the entire mansion security was to be searching for a single man.
Meanwhile, at the same time, Leo was also just as lost. He hadn’t gone far away. He had simply crawled out the window, standing on what appeared like a thin extension of footing out the window.
Fortunately, he had been able to close the window on time, and they didn’t check on it.
He thought about jumping down and then trying to leave this place. After all, even if this was a human world, he didn’t really know much about it.
Without knowing anything, staying behind was no different than putting his life in someone else’s hand. He first had to at least understand what kind of place it was.
He quickly dropped the idea of jumping down, especially since this was the third floor.
Even if he had an athletic physique, he still wasn’t confident enough due to his leg injury.
He quickly opened the window and returned to the room, which was probably the safest place in the mansion since it was already checked by others. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
It was highly unlikely that they were going to check this room again. Even if they did, the creaking floor outside was perfect to alert him so he could hide out the window again.
Once he returned to the room, he sat on the bed, letting out a sigh.
Although his leg wasn’t hurting as much as before, it was still throbbing.
He again started observing the room. His original clothes were nearby, but his dagger was nowhere to be seen.
He wasn’t sure if it was simply left behind in the forest, or if they intentionally didn’t leave it here. In any case, from their perspective, it wasn’t wrong to not give him a weapon as he was a stranger.
"I wonder what they meant by outsiders? Do they already know about the other worlds? In that case, they can’t be as backwards as I thought."
"Or do they mean something else when they talk about outsiders?"
Leo wasn’t certain about the story with outsiders. However, he knew that he wasn’t in a position to thank them for their hospitality without knowing their intentions.
He was already burnt a few times, especially recently. Now he wasn’t going to trust someone as easily as he did with those humans before.
After a brief period of rest, he stood up and walked back to the window, watching soldiers carrying spears, rushing around, clearly trying to find him.
The soldiers had metal armor, which looked quite heavy compared to the modern and efficient armors of the future.
Unfortunately, there was one thing that stunned him even more. The people here... Or rather, the soldiers at least, were not humans.
They had a shorter physique than the humans. Vicious looking teeth were visible as they opened their mouths.
What stood out the most, was their green skin. The guards were not humans! If he had to describe them with a single word, he would have called them goblins!
As he was hiding out the window, he hadn’t seen the people that entered the room to look for him. He had only heard their voices.
However, now that he saw the guards, he wondered if the person that entered the room was also a goblin.
This place... It wasn’t a human gown, but more like a goblin settlement. It made things more complicated since goblins, at least according to stories he had heard, loved eating humans or any other creatures that they could find.
They hadn’t eaten him immediately, and he wasn’t sure if they were the same vicious mindless goblins that he had heard about. It appeared as if they at least had an order amongst them.
The woman who had entered the room, appeared to have a significant position amongst the goblins here. She was at least a noble by goblin standards.
"Did they leave me alive because they are good goblins?"
Leo was quite conflicted. If they were bad, they would’ve at least locked him up with shackles, even if they waited for him to wake up.
"Unless... They wanted to win my trust? It seems like the answer lies in the so-called outsiders."
Leo scratched the back of his head. He didn’t care what they wanted. He only wanted to let his legs heal and find a way to return.
Before that, he couldn’t even run outside as efficiently as before. Moreover, competing with goblins on speed when he was injured? He wasn’t that foolish yet.
