Immortal God of War-Chapter 735 - 700 Official Invitation_1
As soon as the two men entered, Qin Feiyang’s gaze locked onto the figure in front. This man’s cultivation was only at the Five Star War Emperor level, which could be considered almost negligible. However, the aura he exuded was like that of a king, impossible to ignore. Most importantly, Qin Feiyang sensed a very familiar energy from this man—a faint yet distinct imperial aura!
Without a doubt, the man before him was the current Eldest Prince of the Great Qin Empire!
At the same time, the Eldest Prince was also observing Qin Feiyang. Initially, it was pure curiosity. But gradually, a trace of suspicion crept into his eyes. Why does this Qin Feiyang give me such an inexplicable sense of familiarity? Déjà vu?
The man behind him entered the room, promptly closed the door, and then removed his mask. Who else could it be but Zhuge Mingyang?
He looked at Qin Feiyang and cupped his hands in greeting. "Brother Qin, we meet again."
Qin Feiyang stood up, nodded, and smiled. "Indeed, quite a coincidence. This is..." He paused, his gaze shifting to the Eldest Prince.
Zhuge Mingyang moved to the Eldest Prince’s side and introduced them. "This is His Highness, the Eldest Prince. Your Highness, this is Qin Feiyang."
Qin Feiyang’s expression changed. He quickly bowed and said, "So it is His Highness, the Eldest Prince. I have failed to welcome you properly. Please forgive my lapse, Your Highness."
"Brother Qin, what are you saying?" the Eldest Prince laughed. "If anything, it is I who have come uninvited and been somewhat presumptuous. I hope Brother Qin doesn’t mind."
As he spoke, he removed his mask, revealing a handsome face with a faint smile. This face was all too familiar to Qin Feiyang. After all, when Qin Feiyang was exiled from the Imperial Capital, the Eldest Prince was already seventeen or eighteen years old, his features nearly fully developed. So, after all these years, his appearance hadn’t changed much, and he was easily recognizable.
But can the Eldest Prince recognize me? If he does, how will he react? Qin Feiyang’s feelings at this moment were somewhat complicated. Deep down, he detested this man. Yet, regardless, this person was his half-brother.
Seeing Qin Feiyang remain silent, the Eldest Prince frowned slightly, glanced at Lu Hong beside him, and asked with a smile, "Is this an inconvenient time for Brother Qin? If so, I shall take my leave for now and visit Brother Qin another time when the opportunity arises."
"No, not at all," Qin Feiyang quickly waved his hand, smiling faintly. "Meeting like this is fate. Your Highness, please don’t be so formal. Take a seat."
"In that case, I won’t stand on ceremony," the Eldest Prince laughed heartily. He strode into the tearoom, nodded to Lu Hong, and then sat down.
Zhuge Mingyang also entered the tearoom but chose to stand beside the Eldest Prince instead of sitting.
Qin Feiyang squinted slightly and chuckled. "Brother Zhuge, it’s not as if we lack chairs here. Why are you standing? If anyone saw this, they would surely gossip that I’m a poor host!"
The Eldest Prince chimed in, "Exactly, Brother Zhuge! There are no outsiders here. Just sit down and talk."
"Very well!" Zhuge Mingyang cast a meaningful glance at Qin Feiyang before sitting down beside the Eldest Prince.
Qin Feiyang chuckled and casually sat opposite them, waving his hand. "Lu Hong, serve tea for our guests."
"Yes, sir," Lu Hong walked to the tea table, picked up the teapot, took out two clean teacups, filled them, and slid them in front of the Eldest Prince and Zhuge Mingyang.
Qin Feiyang smiled. "Your Highness, Brother Zhuge, the attendant told me this is Fragrant Moon Tower’s finest tea. Could you sample it and tell me if he was deceiving me?"
Zhuge Mingyang picked up his teacup, brought it to his nose to appreciate its aroma, then took a light sip. After savoring it for a moment, he put down the teacup and smiled. "He didn’t deceive you. This is indeed Fragrant Moon Tower’s best tea."
Qin Feiyang asked curiously, "Then, may I ask, what is this tea called?"
"The name of the tea?" Zhuge Mingyang was taken aback. He had expected Qin Feiyang to inquire about the purpose of their visit, but instead, he was asking such an irrelevant question.
Qin Feiyang said, sounding somewhat disappointed, "Does Brother Zhuge not know either?"
"Of course, I know," Zhuge Mingyang explained. "This tea is called Fragrant Dew Tea. The tea leaves are personally cultivated by Fragrant Moon Tower. The water used to brew this tea is also specially collected by Fragrant Moon Tower from the dew on wildflowers in the early morning—flower dew, as it were. Therefore, the tea has a faint floral fragrance upon sipping, and if you taste it carefully, you’ll detect a subtle sweetness."
"No wonder it tastes so good; it’s brewed with flower dew," Qin Feiyang said with sudden realization. He took another sip, an expression of enjoyment on his face, and smiled. "Lu Hong, when you have time, go into the wilderness and collect some flower dew."
Lu Hong looked at Qin Feiyang with a puzzled expression and nodded. "Alright." She, too, couldn’t fathom what game Qin Feiyang was playing.
Meanwhile, a hint of impatience was evident on the Eldest Prince’s face.
Qin Feiyang, however, appeared perfectly leisurely. He put down his cup and said to Lu Hong, "Go and ask the attendant to prepare some good wine and dishes. I want to treat His Highness the Eldest Prince and Brother Zhuge well."
"Understood," Lu Hong replied, turning to walk towards the door.
The Eldest Prince frowned and raised his hand. "Miss, please wait a moment."
"What is it?" Lu Hong turned back, looking at him quizzically.
The Eldest Prince was about to speak when Zhuge Mingyang transmitted a message to him: Your Highness, let’s not be impulsive yet.
Hearing this, the Eldest Prince was slightly taken aback but didn’t press Zhuge Mingyang for the reason immediately. He smiled at Lu Hong and said, "I’m not much of a drinker, so please bring less wine."
"Very well," Lu Hong nodded and left the room.
Once Lu Hong had departed, the Eldest Prince looked at Zhuge Mingyang in confusion.
Zhuge Mingyang quietly explained via voice transmission, Given his intellect, he must know why we’re here. Yet he avoids the topic, clearly testing our patience.
Testing our patience? the Eldest Prince felt even more bewildered.
I know what Your Highness is thinking, Zhuge Mingyang continued. Rest assured. He clearly intends to build a good relationship with you; otherwise, he wouldn’t have had us stay for drinks. If I’m not mistaken, on one hand, he wants to use this time over drinks to understand us better. On the other hand, he likely wants to seize the initiative. Because whoever broaches the subject first will essentially lose the initiative.
So that’s how it is, the Eldest Prince suddenly understood. He couldn’t help but feel secretly relieved that he had brought a strategist with him. If he had come alone, he surely wouldn’t have been able to remain composed and would have spoken first.
Qin Feiyang noticed the two communicating covertly and remained silent, sipping his tea.
After listening to Zhuge Mingyang’s explanation, the Eldest Prince remained silent for a while before turning to Qin Feiyang. He chuckled and asked, "Brother Qin, I wonder, has my Thirteenth Younger Royal Brother caused you any more trouble recently?"
Qin Feiyang paused, put down his teacup, and said, "Now that Your Highness mentions it, I had indeed forgotten something."
"What is it?" both of them looked at him curiously.
"Just before your arrival, two men in black robes came to see me, claiming to be Your Highness’s guards, and said they were here to escort me to the Imperial Palace," Qin Feiyang stated.
"Is that so?" The Eldest Prince raised an eyebrow.
"Yes," Qin Feiyang nodded. "Therefore, I wished to ask Your Highness if you had indeed sent anyone."
"Absolutely not," the Eldest Prince shook his head.
Qin Feiyang asked, puzzled, "Then this is strange. Who would be audacious enough to use Your Highness’s name in such a manner?"
"This..." The Eldest Prince looked at Zhuge Mingyang.
Zhuge Mingyang pondered for a moment, then said, "I believe it was most likely the Thirteenth Prince."
"How do you figure?" the Eldest Prince frowned.
"Because Brother Qin has offended him," Zhuge Mingyang explained. "He wants to eliminate Brother Qin. However, he wasn’t confident enough, so he used Your Highness’s name. If he fails, Brother Qin won’t suspect him and will instead come to settle accounts with Your Highness. In other words, he’s trying to kill two birds with one stone, attempting to drive a wedge between Your Highness and Brother Qin."
Hearing this, Qin Feiyang’s pupils contracted slightly. He had instantly guessed the Thirteenth Prince’s intentions. This man truly lived up to his former reputation as the Imperial Capital’s foremost prodigy!
"Insolent cur!" the Eldest Prince seethed with uncontrollable rage. How dare he plot against me! Truly courting death!
"Your Highness, please calm your anger," Zhuge Mingyang advised. "Without concrete evidence, it’s not advisable to fall out with the Thirteenth Prince."
"Brother Zhuge is correct," Qin Feiyang said calmly. "If you confront him now, the Thirteenth Prince will surely retaliate by claiming that Your Highness is trying to eliminate him to secure your position as Crown Prince. Although Your Highness knows you are blameless, others will not see it that way and might even consider it justified. At that point, it will undoubtedly have a significant negative impact on Your Highness."
Zhuge Mingyang smiled. "Brother Qin, your insight is truly sharp. I admire it."
Qin Feiyang replied, "I was just speaking casually. Your Highness and Brother Zhuge, please don’t take it too seriously."
Just speaking casually? Zhuge Mingyang shook his head, disagreeing, and secretly transmitted to the Eldest Prince, Your Highness, don’t be fooled by him. Although he only recently arrived in the Imperial Capital, he has already thoroughly grasped the intricacies of the various factions’ disputes.
The Eldest Prince was inwardly astonished. The private disputes among the princes have existed for many years and are incredibly convoluted. Even people who have lived in the Imperial Capital their whole lives might not understand them all. Yet this man, who has only been in the Imperial Capital for a month, sees through it so clearly. His mind is truly remarkable! He grew even more determined. Such talent must be brought under my banner!
He looked at Qin Feiyang and said, "Brother Qin, you don’t need to worry about the Thirteenth Prince at all."
"How could I not be concerned?" Qin Feiyang sighed. "He is a lofty Prince, while I am but a commoner. It would be all too easy for him to deal with me."
"Who says so?" the Eldest Prince snorted coldly. "As long as Brother Qin is willing, from this day forward, you, Brother Qin, will be an honored guest of mine. Then, even if he had ten times the courage, he wouldn’t dare to trouble you."
This was also his official invitation to Qin Feiyang.
Still couldn’t keep his composure! Zhuge Mingyang sighed inwardly. However, the Eldest Prince couldn’t be entirely blamed. This person has shown himself to be too outstanding; anyone would be eager to recruit him. Now, it all depends on what Qin Feiyang decides.
