Immortal in Horror Game: She is the Fortune Teller!-Chapter 23 - 22: The Mermaid King’s Past (Part 2)
The Mermaid King’s scorched body was slowly recovering. He coldly watched the octopus without saying a word.
The octopus despised that look the most — that condescending gaze that looked down on all beings.
With his tentacle, he viciously pinned the Mermaid King’s tail to the seabed. A thick cloud of blood exploded instantly, enveloping the blue fishtail.
The Mermaid King could no longer endure it and let out a sharp howl.
His face turned pale instantly, even the color of his beautiful sapphire eyes faded quite a bit.
The octopus wore a sinister smile: "Does it hurt? I heard that while a mermaid’s tail is the strongest, it’s also the most fragile. Your spiritual power is stored in your tail. If I nail it like this, won’t you become useless?"
The Mermaid King trembled with pain, yet the coldness in his eyes didn’t diminish in the slightest.
The octopus’s smile faded somewhat. He viciously grabbed the mermaid’s hair: "Indifferent, huh? Then why don’t you guess why the dormant volcano suddenly erupted? It was me!"
He widened his eyes gleefully, as if he had done something both crazy and remarkable: "I betrayed the ocean, betrayed you, and took the Soul Suppressing Pearl you placed to hold the volcano."
The Mermaid King finally reacted, suddenly lunging forward, fiercely biting the octopus’s eye.
"Ahhhhh!" The octopus screamed miserably, his tentacles flailing wildly in pain, causing the surrounding waves to surge and crash.
The Mermaid King spat out the eyeball in disgust, reciting an ancient and ornate incantation.
The octopus shook his head in terror at the incantation: "No! You can’t curse me! How can you still possess the power of a curse?"
He turned and fled.
The continuous incantations flowed from the Mermaid King’s mouth, transforming into complex blue patterns that swiftly drifted towards the octopus, forcefully and dominantly drilling into his brain.
The wounds on the octopus would never heal, his pain etched into his soul, ceaseless even in death.
He would be despised, loathed, and disgusted by all, with no one to love him.
Only on the day when the Mermaid King regains freedom, can he receive the release of death, but his soul will remain forever imprisoned in the volcanic magma, suffering endless lava scorching.
To exact revenge, the octopus deceived Fuer, telling her that the Mermaid King’s heart could bring her sister back to life.
Fuer believed it, diving to the pool’s bottom and, with no courtesy, took out the Mermaid King’s heart.
The Mermaid King struggled violently, roaring in anger, his face almost covered in fish scales, and his teeth became sharp.
The Mermaid Heart is the Mermaid King’s most precious possession and also what mermaids rely on for survival.
Without it, the Mermaid King cannot gain self-healing power.
The octopus snickered as he took Fuer away from the water.
Darkness pressed in from all sides, enclosing the Mermaid King in the center.
His fishtail emitted a faint blue light, carrying an inexplicable sadness in the dark.
The darkness gradually swallowed the scene.
The last thing Josh saw was the lifeless body of the Mermaid King, his golden hair, now devoid of color, obscuring most of his face.
On waking the next day, it was already midday.
Josh sat up in a daze, looking at the Mermaid Heart in their hands.
She thought she knew what to do.
The Soul Suppressing Pearl in the octopus’s hand was the third artifact to save the Mermaid King, and under normal non-violent circumstances, the octopus was likely led by Fuer’s mother’s spirit.
The Soul Suppressing Pearl was very likely handed over to Fuer.
Josh gathered the others.
Huang Bairen was a bit impatient: "What’s the matter?"
Green Hair also looked half-awake: "I was just dreaming; what’s up?"
Josh looked at them solemnly: "I have a way to clear the level and get a new quality artifact."
"What’s the method?" The others instantly perked up.
Josh looked at them and said, "If my guess is correct, the octopus is indeed Fuer’s mother. There must be a misunderstanding among Fuer, her mother, and her sister, and we need to trigger these misunderstandings to unravel Fuer’s heart knot."
Huang Bairen looked at her suspiciously: "How did you guess? Why don’t I know?"
Josh: "Now’s not the time for explanations. Later, you all help distract Fuer, and I’ll sneak into her room to steal something."
Huang Bairen wanted to ask more, but Qian Duobao and Green Hair had already nodded in agreement.
The group split into two teams. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Huang Bairen, forced into action, was utterly baffled: "??"
They were outside arousing the animals, causing a commotion, and sure enough, Fuer was awakened, coming out with a whip.
