Chapter 296: Chapter 291: Serendipity

Yuze felt a bit helpless, "Synesthesia device."

Josh shook the synesthesia device in her hand. This thing looked like a patch for a dog, and it could enable empathy?

Yuze watched her haphazardly playing around with it, acting all childish. Her pretty little hands had a destructive power stronger than a husky’s.

He couldn’t help but chuckle softly, feeling a bit of a headache. Why was he arguing with a child?

Yuze grabbed the synesthesia device from her hand, "Sit still, I’ll put it on for you."

"Ow~" Josh obediently nodded and lay down on the sofa chair.

Yuze took a piece of the synesthesia device and placed it on her forehead.

The little one blinked her big eyes, filled with childlike curiosity toward the unknown, trusting him to do as he wished. Her slender body lay defenselessly.

He put a piece of the synesthesia device on her forehead, and they leaned in close to each other, their thighs touching through clothing, exchanging warmth.

"Is this okay now?" Josh attempted to sneak a glance at the little piece of paper on her forehead, her expression a bit comical.

Yuze couldn’t help but laugh out loud, "Not yet, don’t move around."

He deliberately tried to scare her.

At his words, Josh indeed stopped moving.

She was so well-behaved it made his heart itch.

Yuze cleared his throat, trying to suppress that itchy feeling, as he took another synesthesia device and placed it on her inner wrist.

Her wrist was so slender. Although her bones and flesh were evenly proportioned, her build was extraordinarily small.

As he pinched it in his hand, it truly felt like gripping the paw of a cat, and it seemed it could break at any moment.

It seemed that besides midnight snacks, he’d have to prepare more nourishing meals for her regularly too.

Perhaps switching milk with goat milk would be better.

It’s said that growing up doesn’t easily lead to gaining weight, but she was just too thin and weak.

The food prepared by the kitchen might not be enough to provide her with the necessary nutrients, and more would need to be added...

The movie began.

Josh closed her eyes, and instantly a vivid forest appeared in her mind. She could even smell the unique woody, sun-kissed scent mixed with the earthy aroma of the forest.

Curiously, she reached out to touch a nearby tree, and the realistic texture made her gasp in wonder.

This was her first time watching a movie, and she found it incredibly novel.

The movie plot was okay, tending towards a traditional fantasy action blockbuster, with stunning visuals specially crafted for a full-sensory film experience. The storyline was secondary.

As it got to the latter half, the plot entered the mountain range, and the cold wind assailing her made Josh shiver involuntarily.

She was already afraid of the cold, and though she wasn’t dressed too thinly today, her jacket was left in the car when she was busy tussling with Yuze earlier.

A piece of clothing was tossed over, and the familiar clean scent enveloped her nostrils.

"Put it on."

It was Yuze’s voice.

Josh opened her eyes, noticing Yuze beside her, wearing nothing but a simple dark turtleneck sweater.

She always thought sweaters didn’t look good, but on him, they strangely seemed to suit him.

Josh didn’t refuse and obediently put on the jacket.

Yuze’s coat was originally quite long, a deep-hued overcoat made of some unknown material that wasn’t very thick but had a sharp silhouette.

With it on her, it reached down to her ankles directly.

Josh: "..."

Well, you get used to it.

She tugged at Yuze’s sleeve again, whispering, "I want to go to the restroom."

Yuze paused for a moment: "I’ll take you."

"Okay." Josh nodded.

Yuze stood up and, seeing her not moving, found it amusing, "Shall I carry you over?"

Josh blinked, pointing at the synesthesia device on her forehead, "What about this?"

She’s like a little kid.

Yuze’s eyes deepened slightly as he removed the synesthesia device from her forehead, placing it into the special storage container to his right, "Let’s go."

He led her out of the screening room. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

At this time, people gradually entered the screening room one after another.

Yuze thoughtfully pulled the coat’s hood over her head.

"Hey... I can’t see the road." Josh frowned, trying to take off the hood.

Yuze gently pressed her head down, "Keep it on, don’t get recognized."

The large hood practically covered most of her face, leaving only her tender chin visible.

Josh nodded somewhat puzzledly, looking up at him: "What if I do get recognized?"

Yuze pressed her head back down, "I’m afraid you’ll get mobbed."

Josh: "..."

Yuze led her to the restroom entrance, "Go on in."

Josh nodded, taking a step inside, only to step back again, "I memorized the way, you don’t need to wait here for me."

Yuze didn’t insist and agreed before turning away.

Josh went into the restroom, finished her business, and washed her hands at the sink.

She felt a burning gaze from the side.

She sharply turned her head, looking at the woman washing her hands beside her. The woman looked a bit older than Josh, and as she searched her memory, Josh confirmed she hadn’t seen her before.

Their gazes met, and the woman didn’t shy away, staring at her directly.

Josh’s lips twitched slightly, "Miss, do you need something?"

The woman was surprised, "What did you just call me?"

Josh squinted, looking her up and down.

The woman wore an elegant dress, wrapped in a cozy-looking shawl, her hair styled in soft waves, with an enormous gemstone dangling from her ear.

Josh’s eyes flickered at the gemstone.

"Miss," she repeated.

The woman suddenly covered her mouth and laughed gracefully, her eyes crinkling with charm.

Her gaze turned instantly affectionate, "Little one, tell Miss, who did you come to watch the movie with?"

Josh: "..." She suddenly felt underestimated.

If this were a man saying something like this to her, she’d have already thrown a punch.

But the other person was a woman, a very beautiful woman.

Her master once said, one should be gentlemanly to women, be a bit more patient, for women are the loveliest creatures on earth.

Patiently, she explained, "I’m 17, not a child, came with the captain and the others to watch the movie."

The woman was slightly dazed, feeling a little jabbed in a soft spot in her heart, utterly smitten.

Without waiting for the woman to respond, Josh continued flatly, "If there’s nothing else, I’m leaving."

"Wait a minute!" The woman snapped back to reality and quickly caught her, "Little one, could you help Miss do a little favor?"

Josh frowned slightly, "No, sorry."

She pushed the woman’s hand away and left the restroom.

The woman hurriedly followed after her but hadn’t taken more than a couple of steps when her face suddenly changed, clutching her chest, "Ouch... it hurts, save... save..."

Josh noticed the commotion behind her. She turned her head, spotting the woman who had pestered her, clutching her chest painfully, slumping against the wall, her face ghostly white as if experiencing severe chest pain.

Josh herself suffered from heart issues and knew how painful an attack could be.

Hesitating for a moment, Josh eventually walked over, "Are you okay?"

"M-medicine... m-medicine..." The woman clung desperately to her sleeve, clutching at it like a lifeline.

Josh frowned, "Where is your medicine?"

The woman was only wearing a thin dress, wrapped in a lavish-looking furry shawl, with no bag to carry anything on her.
