"Esteemed guest, welcome to the Thousand Wealth Chamber," a female attendant said with a bright smile.
"Quick, show me the latest communication artifact of the Dust Valley Sect," a young man said arrogantly.
In Golden Stone City, his clan was one of the wealthiest in the area.
Rumors had spread about the famous Spirit Link of the Dust Valley Sect, but they had never been able to purchase it.
Now, with the Radiant Sect's Wind Echo, they had long lost faith in the Dust Valley Sect, and he had come here to look down on them.
The female attendant's expression remained unchanged as she calmly asked, "Young Master, which grade would you like?"
"Grade?" A look of confusion appeared on his face. "Give me the highest grade."
"That will cost you 10 middle-grade spirit stones."
"What?!"
The young master widened his eyes in disbelief. Behind him was a crowd that had gathered to check out the Dust Valley Sect's product—most of them spies sent by various clans.
Seeing their shock, the female attendant sneered inwardly. Did they really think the artifacts our sect produces could be compared to those trashy Wind Echo talismans?
She had seen the features of the highest-grade Spirit Link—known as the Spirit Smartphone—and had been shocked to her core.
With such a magical artifact, she had vowed to buy it at all costs.
Looking at the still-smiling attendant, the young master was furious and shouted, "Why is it so expensive?!"
"Yes! Why is it so expensive?"
"Even the Wind Echo only costs 50,000 lower-grade spirit stones!"
"There are five grades of Spirit Link. The lowest costs 5,000 lower-grade spirit stones, and the highest costs 10 middle-grade spirit stones," she explained patiently.
"You might be wondering why it is so expensive. Let me tell you."
She proceeded to explain each feature of the Spirit Link to the crowd.
When the crowd heard about the Spirit Smartphone, their jaws dropped.
"Is that even possible?" a beautiful girl asked skeptically.
The crowd nodded. They did not believe the attendant.
"Since you're our first customer, I'll give you a demonstration," she said proudly, taking a Spirit Smartphone from the shelf.
Looking at its sleek and aesthetic design, the crowd was mesmerized—especially the ladies.
She swiftly turned on the Spirit Smartphone, and the screen lit up. She began explaining its features to the ignorant crowd.
"You can save your contacts, send messages, and even take pictures or selfies."
"Everyone, look at the camera," she said with a light smile.
The group was confused but raised their heads. Instantly, a light flashed from the Spirit Smartphone.
"What was that?"
The group subconsciously closed their eyes.
"You just took a picture," she said and showed them the image. "Look..."
They all stretched their necks to look at the screen of the Spirit Smartphone.
"Wow! Is that us inside the artifact?"
"How is this possible?"
"How can an artifact capture our image...?"
Shock and disbelief appeared on their faces. This was the first time they had seen an artifact that could take their picture.
"That's not all...." The attendant smiled and quickly introduced some of the upcoming features.
When the crowd learned of the Spirit Smartphone's terrifying capabilities, they were stunned and quickly dispersed to inform their clans.
Compared to this, the Radiant Sect's Wind Echo was trash. The two were incomparable.
Apart from that, the Spirit Link had five grades based on its features:
Common Grade, Standard Grade, Gold Grade, Platinum Grade, and Noble Grade
The Gold Grade did not have a screen and could only be used through voice activation, but it could communicate throughout the Western Region.
The Platinum Grade had a screen but no cameras, while the Noble Grade had all the features of a modern smartphone.
Quickly, the news spread like wildfire. Those who had looked down on the Dust Valley Sect could only hide their faces in shame.
Although the Noble Grade Spirit Smartphone was enticing, it was too expensive for any common clan to afford.
Thus, many opted for the Platinum Grade, which cost 500,000 lower-grade spirit stones.
As clan elders purchased the Platinum Grade Spirit Link and tested its features, they were amazed and could only praise its creator.
Within three days, the Western Region was in a frenzy, rushing to buy the Spirit Link. Even those who could not afford the Platinum Grade settled for the Gold Grade.
At the very least, it allowed them to communicate with anyone in the Western Region.
Realizing the importance of the Spirit Link, many merchants wanted to buy it in bulk and resell it—only to find out that the Thousand Wealth Chamber had already anticipated this move.
Every avenue to hoard large quantities of Spirit Links had been blocked.
Yet, the demand for the Spirit Link continued to rise with each passing day.
By the fourth day, the Thousand Wealth Chamber began running out of stock.
"What do you mean you're out of stock?!" a man shouted in anger.
"I've been waiting for two days, and now that it's finally my turn, you tell me you're out of stock? Are you kidding me?!"
Behind him, thousands of people had gathered to purchase the Spirit Link, and complaints filled the air.
Quickly, the manager came out to appease the crowd.
"Don't worry. Once we restock, you'll be the first on our list."
"Just give us a day..."
Hearing this, the enraged crowd calmed down slightly, but no one left their spot.
The Spirit Link was a must-have, and no one was willing to give up their chance.
...
Inside the Radiant Sect.
"How could this be?!" the Radiant Sect Master roared in fury.
All the elders inside the grand hall had unsightly expressions on their faces.
Their plan had been to cripple the Dust Valley Sect gradually.
First, they had planned to take over their business, but who would have expected them to fail in the very first battle?
"I thought you said their Spirit Link couldn't compare to our Wind Echo," the Sect Master growled, glaring at the elders responsible for the Wind Echo project.
"I-I..." The Talisman Elder opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out.
They had tested the Dust Valley Sect's Spirit Link, and the results had shocked them.
The ability to speak from anywhere in the Western Region was an overkill.
And then, there was their Noble Grade Spirit Smartphone...
They were helpless against it.
Reverse-engineering it?
Impossible.
They had no idea how the Dust Valley Sect had managed to create a Spirit Link capable of communicating throughout the entire region.
How could they even dream of reverse-engineering the highest-grade version?
That was nothing but a pipe dream.
Seeing the helpless expressions on his elders' faces, the Sect Master's fury intensified.
He slammed his hand on the armrest and shouted:
"We cannot allow the Dust Valley Sect to monopolize the Western Region! We must find a way to disrupt their business—no matter the cost!"
