Immortality Starts From Making Money.-Chapter 344: A Pact with the Serpent Queen.
The Serpent Queen stared at Mo Jian intently for a couple of seconds before a cold, chilling laughter erupted from inside the cavern.
Looking at the colossal beast laughing with what looked like a human expression, Mo Jian did not betray any change in his own face.
He knew how grand and absurd his proposal sounded, but he did not care. That was their goal, and they would achieve it either with her support or without it.
It was just a matter of time.
A few minutes later, the Serpent Queen stopped laughing and fixed her gaze on Mo Jian. "Do you know how many powerful cultivators have tried to leave this continent and failed?"
Her voice carried condescension, smooth and cold.
"If it were that easy, do you think I and the other beasts would stay on this continent and be suppressed?"
"For many centuries, I’ve seen many attempts to leave and never return. It’s not only your human race that longs to depart; my beast race also desires to leave..." she revealed.
The cavern fell silent for a moment before the Serpent Queen continued, as if lecturing a junior. "Have you ever thought about the enemies you would encounter? If you think the Never-Ending Forest only contains beasts from this continent, you’re naïve."
Hmm?
Mo Jian furrowed his brow at the thought. "Is it possible there are beasts from other continents living inside the Never-Ending Forest?"
"But how?" he whispered to himself, his breath catching in his throat.
This was beyond his plan. How could there be beasts from other continents when the path linking to their own continent had been cut?
Looking at the stunned human boy, the Serpent Queen pressed on, as if imparting hard-won wisdom to a novice.
"Humans always think they are the rulers of this continent, but you are just a bunch of ignorant ants. My beast race is merely a subordinate of the mighty beasts living in the core zone."
"Those mighty beasts consider this continent their playground. There are means beyond what your human mind can fathom."
"Do you understand now? There is no escaping this continent. For the Seven Essence Blood Pill, I would not kill you, but do not try to play this trick again, or else your little western region will feel my wrath." Her voice was cold and solemn.
Even though she did not release her beastial aura, Mo Jian could not help but shudder slightly, though he remained unbowed.
"Senior, thank you for enlightening this ignorant junior." Mo Jian bowed slightly.
He had come to realize the Serpent Queen was not savage or brutal. She was, in fact, quite gentle. With her strength, many beasts would not hesitate to devour him—and not speak of revealing so many things to him.
However, he would not accept being a prisoner. To him, the continent was nothing more than an open-air prison, and he would do everything in his power to leave the continent or die trying.
"Senior, if I am scared of dying, I will have risked my life to meet you." Mo Jian began, his voice firm with unshakeable determination. "I’ve been ignorant before, but now I know better. That alone increases our chance of leaving the continent."
Whoosh!
He drew a Noble-Grade Spirit Link from his storage pouch and held it up for her to see.
"Senior, this is an artifact we humans developed recently and use for communicating. This artifact changed everything. Now, every human with this artifact can communicate with anyone on the continent without leaving their home."
"Years ago, this was impossible, but now—here it is. Humans may be weak and powerless against their enemies, but we will never give up. Compared to your race, who accepts everything thrown at you, we humans do not."
"We fight for what we believe belongs to us, even those that do not belong to us. We’re insatiable. We’re never content. This is our strength and our weakness. But in this case, our strength."
"As long as we are not content, we will keep on coming back into this forest, exploring it to uncover its secrets. And believe me, we will find them."
"So, sorry for not accepting life as a prisoner. It is our turn to explore and find a way out of this prison, and this I shall do." Mo Jian finished his monologue with firm determination.
Silence.
The massive Serpent Queen locked her gaze on the little human before her, a flicker of shock crossing her serpentine features.
The confidence.
Determination.
This was something she never expected to see in such a weak-looking human. Even though she was a beast, with her own innate strength, she knew many humans would try to curry favor with her.
But him...
He was not.
He was laying the truth before her.
Indeed, for many years she had watched hundreds of humans attempt to escape from the continent, only to fail time and again.
Yet, they never stopped.
They kept throwing their lives into the meat grinder.
And for what? 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
Hope.
Hope to leave the prison in which they were confined.
Previously, she had believed there was no escape from their confining cage, but now...
Her heart wavered.
"Human, let me see the artifact." She spoke after a moment.
Mo Jian nodded and hurled the Spirit Link toward her. It flew and hovered before her eyes.
Without waiting for her to ask, he explained how to use the Spirit Link. For several minutes, the Serpent Queen explored the Hi-Cloud, reading many fascinating stories.
She moved from one group to another. To say she was stunned would be an understatement. She never expected the human race to produce such a magical artifact.
Although she was a beast and could not upload her image as a human would, that did not dim her curiosity and excitement.
Finally, she managed to calm herself and looked at Mo Jian again.
"You’ve managed to convince me," she said, her serpentine eyes filled with interest. "I’m curious. I want to see how you’re going to leave the continent."
"Senior, you can rest assured. With your help and assistance, I strongly believe there is a high chance the inhabitants of this continent will be able to leave."
"As for the enemies, we will deal with them in due time."
"Alright." She nodded her big serpentine head. "I’ll keep this artifact and also expect more of the Seven Essence Pill."
