Immortality Starts From Making Money.-Chapter 366: Beneath the Fame.
It had been a week since the first football match, but the people of the lower district and the middle district wouldn’t stop talking about it.
People were not merely discussing the match between the Black Spider and Blood River teams but also what happened next.
The three most powerful gangs in the city had all signed up to participate in the game. Apart from that, most of the smaller clans had also joined.
Young men between sixteen and twenty were recruited. Since cultivation was not important, this gave the mortals who had always been outcasts a chance to prove their talent.
Buildings were turned into football team houses.
The lower rung of society, which had been abandoned and filled with an irritating smell, saw changes that left many stunned.
Besides the lower district, the middle district was also affected. For the smaller, affluent clans, they all wanted to show the prestige of their lineage, which in turn meant spending a great deal on building and infrastructure to make their players look superior.
Although the lower district and a portion of the middle district were undergoing visible changes, compared to the whole of Mingze City, the scale was small.
It was barely noticeable.
The real power of the city had yet to react. Even some of the middle level groups had not shown any interest in the game.
Many in the middle and upper echelons believed that once the novelty of the new game wore off, it would vanish into thin air and people would forget about it.
So, they thought.
In the arena, inside a particular chamber, Mo Jian was having a discussion with the seniors and Elder Bai.
"Are you sure?" Mo Jian asked, staring at the people before him.
"Yes, Young Master," Senior Lotus Sword answered with a light smile. "Our bodies have completely attuned to the continent’s rules. Now we can break through to the Nascent Soul realm without any difficulty."
"That’s right. We could have broken through about a week ago. But we all decided to solidify our foundation first," Senior Qiu added from the side.
Both the Senior Vermilion Fist and Senior Huang nodded, agreeing with the statement.
Although Broken Blade did not speak, Mo Jian could tell this was the case with him.
"Very well, then..." Mo Jian nodded.
He knew how precarious their situation was. With the rising fame of the football game, without sufficient strength to deter those with evil intent, they might lose more than they gained.
"Be careful," his tone was serious. "I advise one person to break through at a time while others stand ready to protect him. And with the formation in place, passing the tribulation will be easier."
Everyone nodded.
"That would be for the best. We can’t be reckless at this stage," Senior Huang said seriously. "We’ve agreed: Lotus Sword will lead, then we follow."
"Good. I await your lead," Mo Jian replied, his serious expression easing a bit.
To break through the Nascent Soul Realm, cultivators must pass the lightning tribulation, which has stopped many cultivators. But with enough preparation, passing it would be easier.
In the past week, apart from focusing on the development of the game, Mo Jian and his group had not been idle. They had mapped Mingze City and the surrounding terrain.
Cultivators not from powerful clans made their breakthroughs to the Nascent Soul Realm in the forest, away from prying eyes.
And this was what Mo Jian and the seniors were following.
Using the Pulse-Seeking Compass, they discovered a hidden High-Grade spiritual vein that lay five hundred miles from the city.
It was located deep in the forest, but not too deep for Tier-5 beasts to appear.
With the discovery of the High-Grade Spiritual Vein, Mo Jian and Elder Bai quickly set up various Peak Tier-3 Array formations to keep the place hidden.
In addition, they set up many formations that could assist cultivation and also allow cultivators to withstand a portion of the Lightning Tribulation.
What they prepared was discreet, to the point that no one even knew that such things existed. And now, four of their people would break through at the hidden ground, away from prying eyes.
After the four seniors left, the room was left with Mo Jian, Senior Broken Blade, and Elder Bai.
"Senior, do you think a Nascent Soul scent can sense them when they are undergoing their tribulation?" Mo Jian asked, staring at Senior Broken Blade.
"That’s impossible," Senior Broken Blade shook his head. "Nascent Soul scent can only cover one or two miles. As for those at the peak, at best they can cover ten miles. But reaching five hundred miles—that’s impossible."
"That’s good to know." A sense of relief washed over him.
Each of the seniors was vital to his plan to move forward with any problem.
"Now, let’s talk about our source of wealth." Mo Jian said, his eyes gleaming with a bright smile.
From the first game and the registration of various clubs under their banner, they had already recovered all their investment and were now in massive profit.
Elder Bai smiled, sharing Mo Jian’s anticipation. From his storage pouch, he pulled out a small circular device.
Embedded at the center was a commonly imaged crystal. Looking at the artifact, Senior Broken Blade was puzzled.
"What is this?" he asked in perplexity.
Instead of replying, Elder Bai sent a bit of spiritual energy into the artifact, and instantly the artifact activated.
A holographic scene appeared above the crystal, displaying the event of the first game. Unlike the commonly seen image stones that could not provide audio, this offered audio, and the image quality was much better.
It was clearer and sharper.
Staring at the video, Senior Broken Blade was stunned. He looked at Mo Jian and Elder Bai, who were grinning.
"You’ve done it once again," he sighed.
Everyone in their group knew how insanely talented the two were with runes and formations. Everyone had expected that they would display their talent only once they had a solid hold on the city, but they were wrong.
"Are you going to start selling this thing?" Broken Blade asked.
He already saw through their plot.
If this thing hit the market, he could already imagine the storm it would cause.
