Chapter 364: Chaos Unleashed

While fervent prayers imbued the cosmos, an icy shudder ran down the gods’ spines.

Most glared at the chalice’s light and unresponsive systems, deep frowns folding their foreheads. Others slammed their armrests, their voices thundering, just like Zeus’.

"We can let this mortal reach divinity. Don’t let him ascend, Hades!"

Yet, his voice didn’t reach the underworld. Worse, he had seen the three Hecatonchires with the mortal. Things were developing from bad to worse too fast, and he could do nothing. He clenched his jaw. "Who can seal my entire pantheon authorities? What madness is unfolding before our very eyes?!"

As he fumed, the same scene happened in Marduk’s palace. Odin reacted with more composure, but his rage was no less than theirs. Adam could not become a god, not with his chaotic roots—not another devil. He’d threaten everything they had built with another catastrophic cosmic war.

But this hateful light! Divine power became unresponsive under its radiance, making their descent impossible.

"Notice it, Hades!" Zeus rushed to Olympus’ edges, his stomps shaking the mountain.

Seated on a lush grassland overlooking an azure river in the underworld, a tall black-haired man frowned. He clenched and unclenched his fist over the delicacies laid on colorful napkins, not paying attention to the bread he had dropped. "Something is... wrong."

A goddess wearing a floral crown over swaying brown hair nodded across from him. She placed her glass down, gazing at her palms as her voice cracked slightly. "Did something shroud your authority, too, Hades?"

He nodded. "I felt someone disturb the realm of the dead’s balance right before." He rose to his feet, the Elysian field winds ruffling his dark toga and his crown shifting. The amethysts liquefied into pulsing violet engravings. The divine metal crept down, an antique cap sparkling in regal golds covering half his face.

His presence vanished along with his fit body. Only his voice remained, grim, forceful, and worried. "I can’t let innocent souls fall under threat. I’ll head to Tartarus to find out what caused the disturbance. Return to the castle, my love. It shouldn’t take long."

Marvelling at the famed cap of invisibility’s effect, Persephone nodded. Even Zeus couldn’t track her husband once he wore it.

"I’ll wait for you, dinner and wine ready." Her lips curled into a soft smile as gales rocked the plain. Hades was gone, torn moats of soil and trails of dust following his steps.

Unaware of his approach, Adam’s pupils constricted in Tartarus.

[Promotion forcefully resumed. Suck it up with the compliments of Merlin and Gawain.]

"What did this fool do again? And Who?!" He turned toward Garduck, pointing at his invisible interface. "The knight of the sun of the round table? When? How?"

Garduck remained silent, his lips closed in a thin line. He didn’t know what Adam had read from that system, but his previous outburst made it clear. The worst had happened.

Adam didn’t ask again, though. His wide eyes were glued to the notifications.

[Assessing the lord’s reputation and how much impact his name has on mortal populations.]

[Billions of humans, elves, and demons, pray in gratitude for the freedom and peace you’ve granted them. Billions of magical beasts are calling for you to guide their vengeance against the gods.]

’Billions, magical beasts?! Since when?’ Shocked by the number, he shook his head. ’Why are they praying in the first place?’

The system didn’t answer and continued.

[The powerful demons pray for revenge. Your heart is full of it, too.]

[Congratulations, chaotic divinity of freedom and vengeance, Adam, for being the first lord to break his shackles. Condensing these two traits to generate your authority.]

Adam’s eyes darted over the words twice in a split second before his lips curled into a grin. "Hahaha! Doesn’t matter how. At least it worked!" His fist clanged against his armor. "Bring my authority out!"

However, he almost choked on his saliva at the next notification.

A̸̧̨̜͙̞͉̪̦̖̖͕͌͘d̷̢̲͖̰̠͍͎͚̯̞͍̙̤̯̟͎̦̊̎̌̒̐͊̈́̀͆̀̚͘͠͠a̷̢̛̖̠̰̲̜͈̲̺̘̞͉͚͉̤̪̲͑̄̑̇̔͛͒̇̈́̐̾̋͋̈̓̍̔̕͘͜͜ͅm̶̨͖̹͖̪͉̘̭̳̩̥̖͓̪̟̼̲̜̬͙͖̣̺̜̦̣̦̀̊̏̉͛̊̾́̊̓̏̓̓̽̈́̊̚͠͠͝͝͠ͅ?̸̡̢̛̪͍̲̝̻͙̼̰̟͈̠̪̝̭̲̳͕̦̦̭̝͍̤̲̹͈̲͕̤̹͉̘͚͕̬̜̣̗͕̳͎̺͎̺̩͖͙͎̦͖̖̠̪̝̋̊̎̑̒̏͋̊͗͛̇̈́̋́̓̑̍̈̊̽̏̀̏̿̊͒̃̾̾̈́̊̂̑̀͘̕̚͜͠͝ͅ

"What the hell?! Why are you glitching now? Shit!" He slammed his fist against the mountain, golden chains rattling everywhere. But he felt something else—something terrible.

Without thinking, he shifted to his interface and lord panel and cursed. The same... Even worse, he felt his chaotic body stir like the maws of a beast.

It devoured and converted energies from thin air with relentless abandon, shocking him. Before he could feel another wave of shock crash on him, a new notification flashed with a blaring screech.

[Godly system and restrictions have been devoured. Welcome, user, to the chaos-born system.]

He watched his interface change. The flames faded into stars until shining galaxies formed, while the chaotic water filled the gaps.

[Optimising essence to the user’s new level of existence. Erasing ineffective infernal essence.]

He clenched his jaw, his fists shaking as he felt his chaos modify his devil’s core. That was terrible, but... He exhaled. ’My chaotic essence reframed this system on the old one’s basis. Gods do not influence it, so it should be fine.’

[Chaotic essence evolving into primordial chaotic essence. Affinities altered: infernal becomes plasma and saltwater space sub affinities to chaos.]

He instantly felt the change to his chaos. It swirled with vigor comparable to Tiamat’s, albeit in much lower quantities. But that was just the beginning.

[Primordial chaos fully integrated. Generating core authority based on the user’s cosmic impact and desires.]

[Authority of Unfettered Will: Immunity to physical, mental, or spiritual restraint and control. You’re a thread destiny can not weave into its canvas.]

[Primordial chaotic body upgraded to divine authority. Body of true chaos: allows you to devour other gods’ authorities and integrate them into sub-affinities.]

"Ten..." He raised his fist, forgetting his confusion to enjoy his new powers. "It’s an absolute ten!"

As soon as the words left his lips, the notifications vanished, replaced by another.

[Evolution into an Apocalyptic Dragon Tyrant available. Proceed: Yes/No.]

[Warning: this is not the only path.]

Though impressed by the name, he pressed no without second thoughts. Tiamat’s path had helped him tremendously, but it wasn’t his. Becoming a second version of her didn’t interest him, either.

’Unique.’ He smirked as the text changed.

[Chaotic evolution available. Proceed: Yes/No.]

His finger hovered above yes before he shook his head. ’I don’t feel the gods’ gaze anymore but they’ll soon return.’ His eyes darted to the Hecatonchires’ confused frowns. ’Hope it’ll last until I keep my promise.’

He stretched his palm out, his primordial essence roaring in his veins. Space warped and trembled as spatial blades and condensed stars of plasma emerged.

His smirk widened. "Time to ruin this shit hole, big guys!"

"I don’t think so."

He leapt back, alarm bells blaring in his mind. Where did that commanding voice come from? He scanned the surroundings—no one.

Yet, it echoed again, this time fuming with rage. "I won’t let you threaten the underworld. Die, chaotic monstrosity!"
