In Another World, Everyone Want to Kill Me!-Chapter 269: Secrets Beneath the Tomb
At the medical clinic, the patients that seek consultation came and went without pause.
Yet Yue Mingxuan remained distracted the entire time.
Lately, he had felt that something was off, especially that set of footwork he had used at night.
It had appeared out of nowhere.
He had already asked the people from Flying Opera Group to gather information, but no one knew how that footwork had surfaced.
Could it have been something he had unconsciously created himself?
During the second practice session that day, the stones had been thrown from different directions, yet his dodging movements had been exactly the same as before.
He had not even stepped outside that circle.
Gu Xiang had been the one to notice it.
Still lost in thought, he did not realize that Gongsun Xing had already seen off the last patient of the day.
Not wanting to disturb him, Gongsun Xing quietly tidied up, brewed a pot of tea and sat down across from him.
While spacing out, Yue Mingxuan idly continued forming ice beads between his fingers, over and over again without stopping.
He did not notice it himself, but Gongsun Xing did.
The time it took for the ice bead to form was growing shorter and shorter.
When they had first been on the street, it had taken quite a while for one to appear.
Now, after repeated practice, one formed every few seconds.
Of course, Gongsun Xing knew nothing about moisture levels in the air or water molecules.
He only sensed that Yue Mingxuan’s ability was changing far too quickly.
Yue Mingxuan pondered silently.
He needed to find a time to avoid everyone and ask someone who truly understood.
Should he ask Yin Su? But Yin Su was still so young...
Just then, a figure flashed past the doorway.
Yue Mingxuan’s eyes widened.
His palm slammed hard against the table as he abruptly pointed outside.
Startled, Gongsun Xing’s hand jerked and water sloshed out of his teacup.
He glanced at Yue Mingxuan from the corner of his eye.
"What’s gotten into you, jumping like that?" he muttered while brushing his sleeve across the tabletop to wipe away the spilled tea.
Was that Rong Qinglei just now? Had the figure who passed the doorway really been him? Why would he appear outside Yue Mingxuan’s clinic at this hour?
He had been moving in great haste as if burdened with some urgent matter.
Yue Mingxuan let out a quiet sigh. "It’s nothing. Gongsun Xing, come with me. There’s somewhere I need to go."
They headed toward the burial grounds in the back mountain.
It was the same gloomy place as before.
Even in broad daylight, it did not seem any brighter; an eerie air still clung to it.
The moment Gongsun Xing stepped into the area, he felt a chill crawl over his skin, the fine hairs on his arms rising despite himself.
He truly did not understand how Yue Mingxuan had managed to come here alone in the middle of the night that day, let alone enter the tomb.
He did not even know what to say about it.
They stopped before Princess Xie’s mausoleum again, the cave set halfway up the mountainside.
What he had failed to notice that night now stood out clearly.
At the cave entrance were faint traces of ancient patterns etched into the stone, mysterious and timeworn.
Dry branches and tangled vines covered the doorway thickly.
Yue Mingxuan himself found it strange, how had he passed through here that night without being scratched by the thorns?
Could it be that Moonless Cicada had the added function of cutting vines as well?
"Let’s go," he said. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
People of this era were deeply wary of places like this.
Gongsun Xing lingered outside for quite a while before finally stepping in.
Yue Mingxuan shot him an apologetic look, but Gongsun Xing waved it off to show he was fine and followed.
The tomb itself was far from grand.
Its occupant had not been of the highest rank and that fact showed.
The marks of excavation were obvious everywhere.
It was nothing more than a roughly hewn cave carved into the mountain.
Many surfaces remained uneven, ridged and jagged.
The deeper they went, the colder it grew.
Yue Mingxuan hugged himself unconsciously.
He truly could not understand now, what had possessed him that night? Where had he found the courage to walk into this place alone?
They reached the area where several coffins lay side by side.
The faint traces of footprints were still visible, the very spots where he and those burly men had once stood.
That night, he had vaguely seen a flicker of light here.
Yue Mingxuan turned his head slowly and scanning the space from the corner of his eye.
"Ah! Over here!"
No one would have imagined that in such a crude and unremarkable tomb, martial arts manuals would be carved directly into the walls.
Even Gongsun Xing found it absurd.
Were these so-called masters truly this careless?
After a brief exchange of glances, the two of them decided to venture further in.
As they passed Princess Xie’s coffin, Yue Mingxuan kept his eyes wide open, not daring to blink.
In his heart he muttered frantically, It wasn’t me, it wasn’t me. I didn’t cause your death. If you’re looking for someone, go find Concubine Keshun. If you don’t know the way, I’ll even guide you there.
When the coffin remained perfectly still and no vengeful spirit leapt out to strangle him, he gradually regained his composure.
Straightening his back, he stepped closer to the wall.
Only then did he see clearly that the markings were not natural cracks but deliberate carvings made with a blade, each stroke cut deep into the stone.
The entire wall had been polished smooth.
That must have been why, on that night, when Moonless Cicada’s blade flashed, the surface had caught the light and glinted.
"Incredible..."
Gongsun Xing nodded.
It truly was the work of a master.
Much like the legendary One Yang Finger spoken of in old tales, a technique capable of leaving such a flawlessly smooth surface behind had to be some formidable martial art.
But setting that aside, what he could not understand was this: this was a royal mausoleum.
