Chapter 210: New Development (5)

Everyone’s attention immediately fell on them. It was primarily because of their intimate entrance and also because they could not recognize them.

Rise had no intention of maintaining friendly relations and introduced himself and Kamille properly. They were not here to create a harmonious atmosphere.

They were there, bound in his banner. A lot of them would resent him, but Rise never cared to pull any aggro on him. In fact, he enjoyed it quite a lot.

Why else did he become a troublemaker in the eyes of others?

"Who are you?" Someone in front, who had a typical white beard, asked. His position might have been almost the same, seeing that he was sitting in the first row with Zarilan and Halwyn.

His snake-like eyes narrowed further, appearing to be someone who would scam you in a heartbeat. In other words, he was the cunning type, someone least likely to be trusted.

Rise did not bother with his tone. Soon, he would not be able to say any words, anyway. Rise merely gave a smile, which offended the man somehow.

With a huff, he pointed at Rise. "How dare you—" he paused. In fact, everyone froze. They could not process what happened yet. It was so fast.

In a split second, and before they could react, the man’s arms were cut off. His blood spurted out and splattered on nearby attendees.

The man also could not believe it. "Huh?" His eyes glanced around and then back at the two standing at the center.

Only when he saw Rise’s devious smirk did his face go pale and then become red with rage. Before he could spout nonsense again, his whole body trembled.

He sensed the terrifying gaze land on him, as though a predator had marked him to be its meal. It was not that far from the truth. Those crimson pupils stared down on him, and the whole room seemed to become alive.

Specifically, the fire around them roared, feeling the emotions of its master.

Rise had not said any word; he was only smirking the whole time, enjoying the entertainment provided by the white beard clan leader.

He was also expecting this to happen. He wanted this to happen. How else could he establish dominance and authority? In this world invaded by beings beyond the gate, power speaks for all.

Only the powerful could make others willingly listen to their words. Kindness and morality? Those were for the hypocrites who wanted to be heroes.

And Rise was neither a hero nor a protagonist of this fantasy tale; he was the villain.

The white-bearded man opened his mouth before closing it again multiple times, like a goldfish. His whole face was as red as his blood, suppressing the rage in his heart.

Zarilan sighed and looked at an elder. The elder nodded and stood up; he went to the white-bearded clan leader and spoke of his intention to help, but was ignored.

"I can heal myself."

It turned out their clan was the one that specialized in healing techniques. He pursed his lips together, his forehead sweating bullets, but he gritted his teeth, and not once did he grunt in pain.

He bent forward and took his arm, which fell just by his feet. The cut was clean, and with the proper method, he would be able to reattach it again.

Rise watched this all unfold; he did not dissuade Zarilan’s intention or stop the white-bearded clan leader from healing himself. As he said, they were there to be his useful subordinates; why would he kill them?

Kamille knew it too. And so, despite wanting to kill the man for pointing maliciously at Rise, he only cut off his arm.

Silence shrouded the whole room; none took the initiative to speak despite the many questions in their hearts. If they could not stare at the two unknown newcomers, they shifted their resentment to Zarilan instead. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

Zarilan could feel their heated gaze but wisely ignored it. There was nothing he could do. The moment that they set foot in this place, their fate was sealed.

Seeing that the fuss was over and no one dared to speak up again, Rise pursed his lips.

He was dissatisfied. Were these clan leaders cowards? Grow some spine and fight us! Rise glared at them, making everyone feel a chill in their hearts.

What now? They were not doing anything! They took what happened to the white clan leader as a warning, and so none wanted to be the next example.

They did not know that Rise was exactly feeling like this because they were not doing anything exciting. Only Kamille could understand Rise’s thoughts.

He could not help but touch Rise’s hand, which was hugging his arm, and patted him softly. Once his gaze shifted back to Rise, everyone collectively sighed in relief.

Rise looked up at Kamille and understood what he wanted to convey. He then shrugged. So be it. What he was about to do was more exciting.

Thinking so, Rise’s mood lifted again. He walked a bit closer to the throne at the center with Kamille. He did not sit on the throne and continued standing beside it.

He found such a ceremony to be pretentious. Rise loved authority, but not cosplaying as royalty. If Kamille were to sit on the throne instead of him, then it would be another story.

However, he was aware that Kamille wanted to stay beside him and support him and not be the focus of his plans. Making him sit on the throne in front of everyone might not be plausible.

Once they were alone... Perhaps it would be possible.

Rise was truly a menace; he could think of such messy and wild plans while standing before the most influential and powerful clan leaders of this world.

His expression did not show anything either. Once more, only Kamille noticed something. Still, Kamille maintained his cold expression.

Only his eyes flickered with warmth towards Rise.

Rise leaned at the throne, and his expression changed. From a somewhat playful one to one filled with obvious wicked intentions.

He was not one to fully display his intentions, but he never concealed them either.

Rise did not waste any words and directly stated what he wanted from them.

"Who’s willing to submit to me?"

Of course, Rise asked first. Although he did not say he cared about the answer.
