Incurable Pain | Chapter 1 Part 2
Third Middle School was a twenty-minute ride away from Bai Xunyin’s house, so it was already close to eight o’clock when she got home. Ji Huiying, seeing her return, rambled and complained as she heated up the food for her.
“You’re not even seniors yet, why do you always come back so late a few days every month…you should be starving right now.”
Bai Xunyin pursed her lips. After a long time of hesitation, her fingers nimbly moved as she wrote down a few words on a piece of white paper. She then held it up in front of Ji Huiying-
[Mom, my classmates helped tutor me for a while. It’s fine, I’m not hungry.]
Ji Huiying froze. Her eyes shifted from the beautifully written words on the white paper to Bai Xunyin’s small face behind it.
The young girl had an ivory white skin, so clear that it almost looked transparent. Her lips were red, her teeth white. She had delicate and soft features, and her eyes were bright especially when she smiled slightly.
However, an accident left her with the defect of being mute.
These past two years, Ji Huiying could no longer hear Bai Xunyin’s originally cold and pleasant voice. Instead, their pair of mother and daughter can only use pen and paper to communicate.
“It’s good …… that you can learn more now,” Ji Huiying forced a smile then brought the hot dishes to the table.
“You’re an incoming sophomore this year in high school, so it’s time to take extra make-up lessons.”
Bai Xunyin nodded in agreement and sat down at the table to finish her dinner in silence.
Ever since she lost the ability to speak, Bai Xunyin understood one thing.
Undeniably, there were unfair things you’re powerless to fight against. So, to make life slightly better, you can only try to ignore or even surrender in the face of those in power.
At least you shouldn’t have to worry those around you.
So, Bai Xunyin never told Ji Huiying the matter of her being locked in the classroom.
Life was bad enough as it was, and she didn’t want to make Ji Huiying feel worse.
Of course, there were a few other things……
But she could handle it.
Bai Xunyin returned to her room before looking at her cellphone. The screen displayed a series of text messages from Ah* Mo.
*T/N: A form of endearment used to call to those who are close to them.
[Baobei*! The paperwork for my transfer to the Third Middle School is almost done hahaha~ By then I’ll be able to pester you every day!]
*T/N: Chinese term for “baby”
[Eek eek eek eek* why aren’t you answering? It’s already past 6 pm, you guys should be out of school already.]
*T/N: Sound effect for expressing annoyance
[Did Sheng Churan lock you up in the classroom again while you were on duty?]
[Aaaargh! Why is she so annoying?!]
……
Ah Mo was the kind of girl who could talk to herself and send you 50+ messages in a row. The type that even if you don’t talk back, she’ll keep sending.
Bai Xunyin had known her since childhood, but she knew her too well. She couldn’t help but laugh at her words. She then hurriedly replied-
[No, I just got home.]
[I didn’t look at my cellphone today because I had a make-up class.]
Likewise, she didn’t want to worry Amo.
It was just that when it came to Sheng Churan, Bai Xunyin would unconsciously think of the boy she had just met on the school steps again.
Yu Luoyin.
Which three words was it? Luo as in “Luoyang* or Luo as in “fall”*?
*T/N: “洛” found in 洛阳 (Luoyang City) or “落” (to fall or descend). Both characters are pronounced as “luo”
Did Yin refer to the character found in “silver”* or Yin as in “chant”*?
*T/N: “银” refers to the color silver-white. “吟” means to chant or recite. Both characters are pronounced as “yin”
She couldn’t figure it out.
But perhaps, the only thing she did figure out was that Sheng Churan probably liked him, and maybe they were dating.

Ten-year-old Jiang Qi had dark, pale eyes. He had an ink black hair, and his arm had a long cut oozing with blood.
Zhiqi cried while bandaging his wounds. She softly murmured, “Why are you always injured ah, is it very painful?”
Jiang Qi smiled, looking sickly and well-behaved, “Kiss me and it won’t hurt anymore.”
By the time Jiang Qi was eighteen years old, he became the most famous madman in Lin City. He was notoriously bad, and no one wanted to fight with him unless they wanted to die.
He was also known for ‘kidnapping’ girls. He liked to ‘tie’ Zhiqi at the rooftop of their school, where no one else was in the vast open space besides the two of them.
The teenager kneeled on one knee in front of her. He obsessively kissed her white and soft feet. His dark eyes were full of evil and wantonness.
Everyone was afraid of him, the son of a murderer. But Zhiqi was not afraid.
The girl gently kissed his taut jawline, “Jiang Qi, you are good. When I am twenty years old, I will marry you.”
Zhiqi’s sentence saved Jiang Qi’s life and pulled him out of hell.
He made people afraid and not want to live. But because of Zhiqi’s phone call, he put down all the things at hand just to buy milk tea for her.
*He’s a devil-like teenager, and all the sweetness in his heart is only for Zhiqi.

“Don’t Set Me Up”
Ye Yuanchuan was unintentionally discovered by a talent scout at the age of sixteen and shot an advertisement that became an instant hit –
”Face is the greatest asset you can have to become popular in this era. Having a heavenly face,
there’s no reason not to be popular.”
When he was seventeen years old, thirteen entertainment companies were scrambling to sign with him, claiming that they wanted to create customized TV dramas, albums, and magazine covers for him……
But Ye Yuanchuan turned them all down for one reason: He was in his third year of high school and had to study hard.
It’s just that even when he went back to school, with Ye Yuanchuan’s star-like character, numerous admirers flocked to him like a river.
In Linlan City’s Third Middle school, he was considered a legend.
It’s only that, Ye Yuanchuan liked another legend.
He took his one-year unopened exercise book which was placed in the desk to collect dust*, looking for the Third Middle School.
*T/N: Left unattended for a long time
Every exam, there was someone who sat steadily in the throne- Sheng Tingyue.
He snapped close the practice book and put it in front of the other party.
The female school master who had an aura like the bright moon glanced at him and pushed up her glasses. Her voice resounded, clear and cold, “Is there something wrong?”
“Classmate, I don’t know any of the questions in this exercise book.”
Ye Yuanchuan looked at her, full of innocence. A pair of eyes which could charm thousands of girls blinked coquettishly, pleading, “Please teach me, okay?”
Sheng Tingyue looked at him for a long time, then put the exercise book back into his arms.
“I don’t have time.”
Ye Yuanchuan: ……
Later, he heard the female school master had the ambition to get into the Top 1 University. Ye Yuanchuan invited five tutors a day, almost learning tutorials nonstop for hours, with the same ambition to get into the same university.
*Even if the people who like me are like scattered stars in the sky, I just want to chase your footsteps.
