Infinite Dragon Beast: Taming Ice Dragons with SSS Ranked Talent-Chapter 131: Clear The Bandits!
"South? But isn’t the southern route filled with many areas known for bandits?," asked Allana.
"That’s true, but the route is much faster. Our lives are indeed in danger, but it is my duty to overcome this threat," replied Aiden.
Aiden added that if they took the western route and followed the trade route, there was a possibility that the horse-drawn carriages would not be able to travel at full speed. This was because they would be hindered by the speed of the goods and trade carriages.
Neil slowly turned to Allana. He actually had doubts about Aiden’s plan to take the southern route, but an expression of optimism was clearly visible on his face.
Allana nodded. She stood tall, drawing the attention of many people. Allana clearly stated that she supported Aiden’s idea. She was confident that Aiden and his team could handle any problems that arose during the journey.
Neil and the members of the 17th Mage team nodded. If Allana trusted Aiden, then Neil and the others nodded in agreement, trusting Aiden as well.
He rose from his seat, stepped closer to Aiden, and extended his hand forward. Aiden smiled, accepting the handshake with confidence.
"I’ll be counting on you, Aiden," said Neil.
"Of course. Leave everything to me, Neil," replied Aiden.
After the strategy was set, Neil’s team and Aiden’s team seemed to prepare for each other. Some of Neil’s team had boarded the first carriage, except for Neil himself.
"Get in," Allana asked Aiden, but Aiden shook his head slowly.
"Only Joe will get on your horse-drawn carriage. We have our own way of traveling while keeping watch," Aiden replied.
Surprising! Aiden summoned his two magical fire wings in front of Allana and the other mages. Allana wasn’t too surprised, as she had already known about it. However, the other mages, who were seeing it for the first time, were stunned.
"Wait! Isn’t that a manifestation of magical wings?" asked several mages.
"That’s definitely a manifestation of magic wings. But how can he use them?" asked another mage, confused.
Neil came to the front of the first horse-drawn carriage. He looked just as shocked as the other mages. He was stunned to see Aiden manifest magic wings behind his back.
"How did you—?"
"Are you ready?" Aiden interrupted.
Neil fell silent, then nodded in agreement. Aiden told him that they only needed one horse-drawn carriage, no more. That was because Aiden, Amber, Aurora, and Rachel would be flying to the Yixia Border.
After everyone was inside the horse-drawn carriage, the charioteer drove the carriage away from the city center toward the southern route. Aiden and the three dragon girls were still in front of the Hurd Family Residence.
Just before they left, a man dressed in black like an Assassin came up to Aiden, which took Aiden by surprise.
"You? Aren’t you from Feyd’s group?" Aiden asked.
"That’s correct. Feyd ordered us to scout the southern route. We’ve successfully mapped it out," the man replied, tapping his magic pouch and producing a scroll map detailing the exact locations of the bandits along the southern route.
That was quite helpful for Aiden!
"Thank you. Please convey my gratitude to Captain Feyd as well. After I finish my business at the Yixia Border, I’d like to invite him for a drink," Aiden replied.
"Of course. I’ll pass on your message."
The mysterious man left the area. Aiden reopened the scroll and counted the number of bandits on the southern route, totaling 27 small bandit groups.
"Let’s divide our group. You and Rachel will go and search for the bandits near the city gate. Aurora and I will go further ahead," Aiden said.
"Alright. What should we do to the bandits?" Amber asked.
"Kill them. Don’t let any of them escape."
"Got it. We understand," Aurora and the others said.
"Let’s go."
Aiden spread his magical fire wings, flying through the sky alongside Aurora and the others. Among them, only Joe remained inside the horse-drawn carriage. He was specifically tasked with protecting them from within.
Neil and the other mages peeked out the carriage window, then looked up and watched Aiden and the others fly away from the city, leaving them behind. Neil was truly amazed by Aiden’s team.
"You? Why aren’t you flying with them?" Allana asked, staring at Joe.
"If I fly, there will be no one to protect you," Joe replied, turning his face away, "Besides, I can’t fly anyway."
Allana sighed softly, then looked at him with a blank expression. Now, Aiden and the others had completely disappeared from the city. Allana thought that Aiden and the others had probably flown away to defeat the bandits earlier.
Amber and Rachel looked down, seeing several hiding places as described on the map. There were three bandits after the city gate, one group of bandits hiding in a cave, one group hiding in a wooden funeral home, and one group hiding in the ruins of a village.
"I found them," Amber explained.
Aiden nodded while still flying with Aurora, "Be careful. When you’re done, meet me up ahead."
"Alright."
"Let’s go, Rachel," said Amber.
Rachel nodded. Amber and Rachel flew low and attacked the bandits’ hiding places without telling them to transform. Explosions rang out, and Aiden glanced back briefly.
"It seems easy for them to defeat the bandits," replied Aiden.
Arriving at their destination, Aiden and Aurora landed. They scanned the area around them, looking for the bandits.
They were currently at an intersection, with the right leading to a forest and a small village, while the left led to a small town before the Yixia Border.
"It’s too quiet," Li Shen explained.
"We need to lure them out," Aurora replied.
"I know how to do it."
Li Shen tapped his magic pouch and produced 1,000 gold coins, which he deliberately dropped onto the ground. The clinking sound of the coins caught the attention of many bandits who had been hiding nearby.
"ATTACK HIM QUICKLY!" shouted another bandit.
From the right, more bandits came attacking. From the front and back as well, two groups of bandits were attacking.
In total, there were four small groups of bandits attacking Aiden and Aurora at that moment. Aiden smiled. He put another 1,000 gold coins into his magic pouch.
"Down, Aurora," Aiden requested. Aurora nodded in agreement.
[Magic Element: Circle Crimson Fire!]
Aiden spun his spear in a circular motion, unleashing a barrage of fiery scythe attacks toward the bandits attacking them. The speed of the scythe attacks made it difficult for them to dodge.
"AAAKH!"
The four small groups of bandits were pushed backward and appeared to be significantly injured. Aiden smiled, letting his spear burn in the raging flames.
"Now it’s my turn!" Aurora declared firmly.
Aurora drew her sword from its sheath and thrust the blade into the ground. Her eyes widened, emitting a blue-ice colored magical energy.
From the sword, a freezing ice attack surged toward the four small groups of bandits. They tried to flee, but the speed of the attack trapped all four groups instantly.
Their bodies froze solid, making it difficult for them to break free. They could do little but submit to their fate.
"Who are you?!" one of the bandits shouted.
"You don’t need to know who we are," Aiden replied.
Aiden leaped forward and sliced through the ice chunks, shattering them. One by one, the small groups of bandits were defeated, their body parts scattered along the path. No other bandits dared to attack them.
From the north, Aiden saw Amber and Rachel flying closer. Amber and Rachel were shocked to see so many corpses and human body parts in that place. Rachel took the initiative to hand Aiden a handkerchief.
"Thank you, Rachel."
Aiden wiped his hands and face, removing the disgusting blood from the dead bandits. Aiden clearly told them that there was a small town ahead at the left-hand intersection.
"We can spend the night there and leave tomorrow," Aiden replied.
"We’ve only killed seven bandits; there are still 20 more," Amber said.
Aiden unfolded the map again and studied it carefully. Indeed, all the small bandits beyond the city gates had been defeated, but there were still 12 bandits after the left-hand route intersection—specifically, eight small groups of bandits before the small town and four small groups afterward.
"Let’s go kill the bandits before we reach that small town," Aiden explained. Amber and the others nodded in agreement.
Aiden and the three dragon girls flew from the intersection toward the left, searching for the small groups of bandits. Elsewhere, Neil’s horse-drawn carriage had already left the city and appeared vigilant against any possible threats.
However, they found nothing but the silence of the graveyard and the ruins of the village. No bandits came to attack them, contrary to the rumors circulating.
"Where did the bandits go?" Neil asked.
"It seems like Aiden and the others have killed them," Allana replied.
As the horse-drawn carriage continued on its way, they were shocked to see many vultures gathered at the intersection. They weren’t there to block the path, but to feast on the scattered human corpses.
Allana and Neil were startled, unable to speak. The other mages in Neil’s group covered their mouths, holding back nausea and disgust at the sight of human organs scattered about.
"Did Aiden do this? This is truly horrific," Neil explained.
"I already knew. Your team’s abilities are far superior to those of the 17th Mage Team," Allana explained.
"Do you know something?" Allana asked Joe.
"Aiden and the others are waiting for you in the small town before the Pompo Administrative Region. They might already be there, relaxing while waiting for you to arrive."
