Infinite Evolution: My Idle Evolution System-Chapter 219: The Nexus Event?
Although the King never said a word, his Ministers—the 2nd Class Slayers—hounded him about what occurred in the Hunter’s Forest. Normally, 95+% of the Participants died when taking their Examination, but this time, only a little over four-fifths of them met their demise. This anomaly raised suspicions among the Royal Court, and with Cassius’s unknown origins, those suspicions were raised even higher—especially when they found out from the other Participants that he alone paved a path out of the forest.
The King’s expression briefly changed when he heard all the Participants’ accounts, but he still didn’t say a word. Like a menacing man of stone he was.
Toward the end of a borderline interrogation session, the Ministers of the Court nearly seemed to be on the verge of taking him into the back to be tortured. But just as Cassius predicted—and also why he did everything as he did—the 12th Princess spoke up on his behalf. This also elicited a small reaction from the stoic and burly King. And in the end, her words silenced the Ministers. Ultimately, the decision for what to do with the freakish young man was left up to the King.
And what the King did next was precisely what made Cassius add several additional layers to the severity of Grace’s predicament. The King, without moving an inch from his spot, merely looked at him with a bit more focus. And just that was enough to… bring him to his knees.
The pressure was so overwhelming that Cassius felt as if the countless billions of pounds he was carrying on his person weighed less than a feather in comparison. Just half a nanosecond longer of that insane pressure and he absolutely believed that he would’ve exploded on the spot.
But in that same instant, the King reduced the intensity of his gaze. To those in the Court, he seemed oddly… satisfied.
And then, for the first time since the winning Participants were brought into the Court, King Mistalore spoke up. Though, he said but three words:
"Leave him be."
The Ministers all looked as if they were betrayed, but none of them dared to even so much as breathe incorrectly in their Liege’s presence, let alone question his final decision. Thus, they let the matter end there.

Though, they did have one more question which pertained to Cassius’s eligibility to become a Nightmare Slayer. However, seeing how menacingly their King was staring at them, they knew full well what he would say if they asked him something so stupid.
And just like that, Cassius became an official Nightmare Slayer!
But just as the Ministers unwillingly reached his name when calling out where every Newbie Nightmare Slayer would be stationed in the Nightmarescape, time froze.
The Idle Evolution System said that an hour had already passed inside the Hunter’s Forest, but decided to do a one-off thing of extending his time. However, that same extension ended very abruptly. Then, just like turning off a gaming console, Cassius returned to reality.
Only 20-something seconds had passed since his departure into the Land of Beginnings.
But the chaos he left behind before leaving… was still very much there to greet him upon his return…
Of course, like the responsible adult he was, he slipped away from the catastrophic scene in the Antarctic, and instead spent his time in the company of gorgeous women! This was the responsible thing to do!
Then Flora’s phone message came along, and now, here we were, on a train heading to nowhere land.
"So what you’re telling me is that to get into Yggdrasil, I have to, what? Join your Family?"
Hearing Cassius’s question, Flora giggled. "Yes, that’s what I’m saying," she said. "And for this to be possible, you have to—one: magically become an Incubus—and two: compete in the Family Yggdrasil Entrance Tournament being held in roughly two months’ time. Of course, to take part in the Tournament, you have to be a part of the Family. But worry not, because I gotchu covered! And I also know of a method to help you easily acquire an Incubus Bloodline!"
Cassius’s eyes narrowed. Everything sounded far too good to be true. Furthermore, there was one more pressing matter of concern:
"What is it that you get out of this?"
His question got straight to the point, catching Flora slightly off guard. Her bubbly and friendly facade nearly cracked, but she just barely managed to save herself in time. "I have only one thing I want," she said endearingly. "My elder sister’s well-being. And if you have even the smallest chance of acquiring a cure for her illness, then I don’t care what I have to do to help you."
It wasn’t like she was entirely lying; she truly meant what she said about her sister. But she may or may not have left out the fact that she wanted to bone the shiz out of Cassius.
All for the sake of him being her First Mark, of course!

Well, considering that he would be quite literally drained to death by the time she was done with him, Flora preferred not to think about catching the feels. He was handsome and cool, and oddly sweet to those around him, but—
’This whole "remain a fortress of solitude" may turn out to be a whole lot tougher than expected…’
*Skirrrrrttt—*
Flora’s thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the blaring sound of the train coming to a halt. Her head jolted back before restabilizing. But when she came to, the man who was sitting beside her was now sitting directly in front of her.
"What do I need to do?" asked Cassius, his tone colder than ice.
Although momentarily dazed by the way he was glaring at her, Flora retained enough clarity to say, "Hit my number in 2 to 3 weeks’ time, right after the Nexus Event truly concludes. Once that time arrives—assuming it does—I’ll tell you exactly what you must do to obtain an Incubus Bloodline."
Cassius silently pondered.
’The Nexus Event… I want to ask her what that is, but I highly doubt she’ll answer for free…’
