Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix-Chapter 1000: No resistance
As Rain approached the rocky formations to get a closer look, a sense of unease settled over the group. The mugus seemed to writhe and move with an uncanny life of their own thanks to the darkness. The eerie sight made everyone feel as though something might crawl out from them at any moment.
The sea folk among them, who were accustomed to rocky formations underwater, couldn't help but feel a bit troubled by the reactions. To them, these formations were reminiscent of their underwater homes, yet the land-dwellers seemed to view them with a mixture of fear and discomfort.

"It is just the shadows, guys," Rain said. "They aren't really moving. You guys worry too much."
"You seem to be moving in a very particular direction. Can we ask why?" Regis asked.
"I am just following my intuition and following the advice of the relics now and then," Rain shrugged.
"Isa and the others said that they saw them inside your mental landscape or something like that," Regis said. "Can I do that too?"
"Eventually, once we finish this mission," Rain replied. "One of them hasn't shown up yet, so she will be difficult."
"Can't you control all of them when they are in your possession?" Regis asked.
"There are some limitations,ns, and I can't order them around like that," Rain said. "They can be a pain in the ass sometimes, but until they keep acting like they aren't my enemies, I don't have to treat them like tools."
Regis couldn't hide his curiosity as he observed Rain's interaction with the relics and the mention of a mental landscape. The notion of seeing inside Rain's mind intrigued him, and he could sense the potential for knowledge and power hidden within that unexplored realm. The techniques Rain employed seemed more than just practical effects for battle. After all
For Regis, a seasoned leader, the wheels of strategic thinking turned in his mind. He pondered the implications of Rain's abilities, contemplating how such insights could be harnessed for practical applications, particularly in the context of conflict and power dynamics. Leaders, by nature, sought every advantage to maintain their positions and prevent challenges to their authority.
Rain picked up on these clear thoughts.
Rain's acknowledgment of the broader implications hinted at the complexity of their journey, where not only relics and magical abilities played a role but also the strategic considerations of those who held them. As they kept moving forward, the union of mystical powers and the underlying dynamics of power would undoubtedly shape the path they walked.
"We should take turns resting now since we don't know when we will find anything," Rain said. "We'd better use all of the chances we can to rest our bodies and minds. Among those who can use Magic Eyes, only half of them can stay alert and look around."
"What about you?" Esmeralda asked.
"I can drive the platform and rest my mind at the same time," Rain replied. "Besides, I slept for a long while already."
There wasn't much to do around that old Earth… although resting while moving in that environment was a bit unsettling, they would eventually get used to it. And so that happened.
In any case, everyone who came from that exploration thought that they would work a lot, but there hadn't been many opportunities for that. There wasn't much for them to look at, and most likely, it never will, given that all signs of civilization vanished after tens of thousands of years.
In the end, it took half a day for the group to reach the next destination… Rain didn't know much of the geography of Delhi, so he flew around the area without knowing that he had arrived. Still, they found some lingering traces of mana as well. Itt was weird, though. The particles of mana seemed denser, but they were too far apart from each other.
"You should land somewhere and look for things underground," Larisa said. "I am starting to feel a bit of nostalgia."
"You are from here, aren't you?" Rain asked.
"I am not, but the place I used to work was supposed to be around these parts," Larisa replied. "It was very deep underground, and perhaps it is still there…"
Rain recalled the glimpses of Larisa's memories that she had shared and considered the possibility that her former laboratory might have served as an underground shelter. In those memories, the facility was depicted as deep beneath the Earth's surface, potentially resilient enough to withstand the cataclysmic changes that had taken place.
However, even if the structure remained intact, the passage of tens of thousands of years meant that surviving inside it would be a different challenge altogether.
As the platform landed, Rain decided to use his earth magic to investigate. Concentrating his abilities, he sought traces of an underground shelter. After a moment of focus, his magic led him to a metallic passage buried beneath the remnants of the landscape, it was ten kilometers north of their position.
The discovery piqued the group's interest, as they realized that there might be more to explore beneath the surface.
"We are looking for the sixth relics," Elisabetha said. "How heading to her office will help us with that. No electronic device would last this lo, and allll data should have vanished already."
"You sure are someone hopeful," Rain shrugged. "Anyway, we will work with anything we can get from this."
Despite the apparent resilience of the structure, doubts lingered about the feasibility of any inhabitants or anything else surviving for such an extended period. The world outside was lifeless, and the passage of time had taken its toll.
After moving to the area, Rain used his earth magic to move the ground,d and much to his surprise… he barely felt any resistance. Hiss magic was a lot more efficient than it was supposed to be.
"It must be because this world has no mana an,d thus, can't fight back when someone uses it," Rain thought.
