Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix-Chapter 1101: Adapting
Rain was caught off guard… he saw his father coming, but he didn't have the chance to react at all. The attack pushed him backward to the border of the ring, but he stopped himself by touching the floor.
Still, in the next moment, Roan jumped from above to attack him, and once again, Rain felt his body weirdly unresponsive… he barely escaped the attack by throwing himself to the side. Roan's punch hit the ring and made the entire area tremble.
"What the hell was that?" Rain furrowed his eyebrows.
Only magic could explain that, but Rain knew his father well enough to know that Roan wouldn't cheat… even more so agaisnt Rain. When he looked at his father's eyes, Rain noticed that something was amiss… while he couldn't use Magic Eyes, Rain could tell by looking at Roan's expression that he was doing something…
"... It feels like he is an entirely different person, and his gaze forces me to be unresponsible," Rain thought.
Rain found himself unable to sense any of Roan's thoughts or emotions. This was a clear charge from previous encounters, even with the previous enemy, who demonstrated some level of emotional expression during his fight, even though his will was being suppressed.
In contrast, Roan appeared to be deliberately suppressing his emotions and thoughts, creating an impenetrable barrier that prevented Rain from reading his intentions.
It seemed like a different level of control was at play. Roan's emotional and mental state appeared to be veiled entirely, making it challenging for Rain to discern any hints about his father's strategy or next move.
This deliberate suppression of emotion and thought by Roan suggested a strategic approach aimed at preventing Rain from predicting his line of attack.
The inability to sense Roan's intentions added an extra layer of complexity to the match, leaving Rain in a state of uncertainty and prompting him to rely solely on his instincts and combat skills to navigate the unpredictable dynamics of the fight… but even those seemed uncertain. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
Rain got up and then began to use his strength only Impulse and moved around the arena. Still, Roan soon followed him… it almost looked like they were mirroring each other's movements. Still, Rain knew that his father was the impressive one… he was the one reacting to his movements with lightning speed.
All of a sudden, Roan stepped in and then hit Rain's torso with a bodyslam and after spinning his body, he used a roundhouse kick at Rain's neck. Rain raised his left elbow to block the attack, but Roan stopped before contact could happen, and with a single rotation of his body at lightning speed, he hit Rain's other side with a kick…
Rain groaned in pain… those were the movements of someone who was coming up with battle tactics in the middle of a fight. It almost felt like Roan had a counter for every single one of Rain's moves.
"I guess this is worth testing…" Rain furrowed his eyebrows when he stopped moving.
Roan charged in again and attempted to punch Rain in the stomach again, he landed the hit, and Rain groaned, but soon Rain headbutted him on the nose. The light returned to the eyes of Roan a bit as the blood began to fall from the nose and Rain smiled.
He had learned a thing or two after Seara headbutted him a bunch of times… in any case, his satisfaction was short-lived… Rain felt a sharp pain in his stomach.
"My stomach… it got damaged with those two hits," Rain thought.
Damage to internal organs like the stomach may cause visceral pain. Visceral pain was quite dull, a vague ache that was difficult to localize. That was exactly what Rain felt, and it was accompanied by feelings of discomfort, bloating, and nausea. The body's natural response to abdominal pain was to protect the injured area.
This can result in muscle guarding and rigidity as the body attempts to limit movement in the affected region. Thanks to it, Rain felt a tension in his limbs, and they were getting heavier…
"Not good… he has higher strength while my endurance is also lower than his," Rain thought. "Those clean hits won't do me well… there is no point in countering when I am suffering most of the damage."
Rain took a deep breath, and while that made the pain increase a bit, it cleared his mind before Roan could charge again. At that point in time, it was clear what Roan had prepared… aside from relying on instinct and clearing his mind, he also had imagined a bunch of situations to deal with Rain. He didn't expect a headbutt, and that was why the attack landed cleanly… but it wouldn't work again.
"This kind of thing doesn't suit me, but it is the best option against Dad as he is right now," Rain thought, and then he began to move his body from one side to the other.
Rain's movements increased in length and speed… the weird part was that no one recognized his stance. It was too relaxed. Rain's stance was usually rock solid and focused on heavy punches…
The movement was characterized by a rhythmic back-and-forth swaying or rocking of the body. In a relaxed and upright posture, feet shoulder-width apart. The knees were slightly bent, providing flexibility and ease of movement. The weight was distributed evenly between both legs, allowing for quick shifts and changes in direction.
As Rain began moving in an unfamiliar and surprisingly fluid manner, a hushed wave of astonishment rippled through the spectators in the arena. The onlookers, including family, friends, and fellow participants, exchanged bewildered glances, their expressions a mix of curiosity and disbelief.
In the midst of this astonishment, Rain maintained his newfound Ginga from Capoeira, a martial art form known for its fluid and dance-like movements. To the untrained eye, it seemed like Rain had tapped into a hidden reservoir of skills that he had kept concealed until this critical moment…
