Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix-Chapter 1155: City
Rain was thinking about how he should handle the monster without killing it too fast since he was waiting for Elisabetha's help in locating the other relics. At the same time, the monster grabbed some rocks and threw them at Rain with its numerous arms.
A few jumps to the side had been enough to avoid them, but the impacts on the ground when the rocks fell made him wonder if the others would be fine… those who couldn't the domains in any shape or form yet.
"At level ten in this system, defeating that thing should be impossible…" Rain thought. "I hope that everyone has had time to think of ways to exploit the system. We can't help them yet, aside from…"
Rain never tried that, but he recalled what Terra and Seara did when Sealyn was in a pinch… they forced the use of the Seals and gave her their power. The downside of that was the fact that they became utterly powerless.
Rain couldn't go that far, but maybe he should at least try… but first, Rain decided to deal with the monster. When the creature raised its arm to attack Rain again with another massive boulder, Rain fired a barrage of Mana Bullets at the arms of the beast. The attacks pierced the arms of the beast and made the creature shake, dropping the boulder.
That was a good chance to attack the monster at close range, but Rain just kept firing the bullets nonstop until the arms of the beast had so many holes that soon they were unable to hold themselves, and soon they began to fall.
"Well, let's see how do you intend to attack me now," Rain thought.
The monster began to shake for a while, but soon, its arms began to grow slowly while its size as a whole began to decrease. That sounded like fun, so Rain repeated the same process a bunch of times and made the monster decrease in size.
"What are you doing, wasting time like that?" Elisabetha asked.
"I was waiting for you to confirm if the others were already headed to the next location," Rain said. "This place feels like a tutorial zone, and this is the first real boss that will test those who are truly worthy of entertaining the assholes watching us."
"So, what?" Elisabetha asked. "Just go ahead first and prepare the terrain for the others," Elisabetha said. "Besides, nothing says that you will meet them in the next zone."
"I have the feeling that we will. I trust in the hearts of the cards," Rain said.
"I don't get that kind of geek nonsense. Only Nigel and Sakaki get it," Elisabetha said. "So, don't try to use that kind of toilet humor on me."
"Yes, ma'am," Rain said and then sighed.
Elisabetha had a point, not about Rain's nonsense. About that, she was wrong. Regardless, there was no point in waiting for the others. Even if they headed to the same area, it was obvious that the enemies wouldn't let them meet each other that soon.
In any case, Rain pointed his fingers at the monster and bombarded the creature like a Gatling gun that fired mana bullets. The creature didn't even have time to protect its face. It soon died with countless holes in it.

Behind the monster, another gate showed up, but this one was made of light instead of darkness. Whoever created that place certainly had a bland taste when it came to game designs, but Rain decided not to dwell on that too much. Someone with that much power stopped using their creativity a long time ago, and he could exploit that.
Rain raised his guard and crossed the gate, but soon he dropped his guard when he saw what was on the other side… it was a city, a pretty average-looking medieval city…
His surprise heightened as he took in the sight before him. Instead of the expected continuation of a desolate landscape, he found himself in the midst of a bustling medieval city. The streets were filled with armed individuals, people coming and going about their daily business, and the architecture hinted at a civilization that seemed to defy the boundaries of conventional fantasy.
What struck Rain even more was the diversity in the appearance of the city's inhabitants. Beast people with no humanoid features, reptilians with scaled skin, harpies soaring above the streets, and even individuals with the appearance of dolphins walking on two legs. The sheer variety of non-human entities left Rain completely dumbfounded.
His initial expectations of encountering humanoid beings were shattered by the surreal scene unfolding before him. The city seemed to be a melting pot of different species, coexisting in a manner that defied the norms of any reality Rain had known after being captured.
The vibrant and eclectic mix of beings moved about with a natural ease, suggesting a society where such diversity was not only accepted but embraced.
"What the fuck…" Rain muttered.
"Hey, you!"
Rain turned around, ready to fight, when he heard the voice coming from behind. He instinctively assumed his fighting stance, but he only found a bear-looking person frowning at him. He was disarmed, and he wasn't emitting any ill intentions.
"I suggest that you don't do anything hasty inside the walls," The bear person said. "We have laws here, even for a newcomer like you. Don't fight inside the walls. It is the first law unless you want to see everyone ganging up on you."
"Oh, really?" Rain asked. "I would rather not to see hairy dudes ganging up on me."
"Hahaha, you are very funny for a newcomer…" The bear-looking person said and then studied Rain from head to toe. "It seems that you are fairly skilled. Did you cross the first two zones in a matter of a day or two? Your complexion didn't suffer much damage."
