Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix-Chapter 1499: Choice
Chapter 1499: Choice
Rain wanted to make everyone learn more useful skills, but he decided to focus on Transcendental Support since it was way more efficient than anything else... even though they couldn’t access that path yet, they still could equi the skill and that was enough. Thanks to all the energy of the planets that he visited, he was able to make everyone learn that in a single day... but from their perspective, five days had passed.
The Temporal Path has leveled up.
The skill of Time Dilation has leveled up.
The Temporal Path has leveled up.
The skill of Time Dilation has leveled up.
...
"All right, where to next?" Rain thought and then used Remote Viewing.
As Rain activated Remote Viewing, a weird sense took over him. With each passing moment, he felt his eyes expanding outward, reaching out into the cosmos like tendrils of light seeking out distant stars.
Through the power of Remote Viewing, Rain’s perception of the stars shifted, bringing them into focus with startling clarity. No longer were they distant specks of light in the night sky; instead, they seemed to draw near, their brilliant glow illuminating the darkness.
With a sense of awe and wonder, Rain gazed upon the stars as if seeing them for the first time, their beauty and majesty filling him with a profound sense of reverence. Yet, beneath the surface of his wonderment, a seed of apprehension took root within him, for he realized the implications of what he was witnessing. They were all moving in the same direction.
"Just like the overseer, a bunch of the spirits of the planets don’t want to bet on us, and they prefer to think that they will have a second chance in the future," Elisabetha said. "Even though it is clear that they won’t have any real freedom."
"If they are made of the spirits of the people that once lived them on, even on the remains of the animals, it makes sense that they would surrender to fear," Rain said. "From a survival standpoint, resisting is too risky... we can only fight back because we are the oldest and the only group that managed to survive their rule and claim power to fight back."
Rain’s own words made him realize that he had three options... the first one would be to bet everything to take down the machine gods and then trust his friends to deal with the dragon god. The outcome of that would be pretty dangerous since their power over the aspects was limited...
The second option was to take risks and try to face them all alongside his friends... that was dangerous, too, since an all out war agaisnt those four beings probably could destroy the universe... the last option would be for Rain to endure hell alone, literally...
"They will hate me for this..." Rain said and then sighed.
"Who is going to hate you for it?" Elisabetha asked. "What are you planning? I have the feeling that you have yet the worst of your ideas."
Rain went silent, and all the alerts in Elisabetha’s head went off. That couldn’t be a good thing... and her feelings were confirmed when Rain grabbed the ominous sword and then sent her to his pocket dimension.
"All right, that is that... I already died once with everyone hating me for thinking that I did something bad, so it doesn’t matter," Rain said. "It is time to fulfill what I am truly supposed to do here."
Recently, as Rain delved deeper into the aspect of information, he found his understanding of the events that had led to his second chance growing clearer with each passing moment. What he once believed to be a stroke of luck or a twist of fate now revealed itself as something far more profound and purposeful.
Through the lens of his newfound aspect, Rain began to see the intricate threads of causality that had woven together to grant him a second chance at life. It was not a random occurrence or a mere coincidence but rather a deliberate intervention by some forces tied to the looming crisis surrounding the machine gods.
The revelation struck Rain and made him realize that he had been chosen for a purpose far greater than he had ever imagined. His second chance was not just an opportunity to right past wrongs or pursue personal goals but a calling to play a pivotal role in the unfolding drama that threatened to engulf the entire cosmos... for all that he could tell, perhaps even his first life could all have been an illusion to make his second life happen like it did now.
"It seems that you have decided to follow a similar path to his."
Rain suddenly raised his eyebrows when he heard the overseer’s voice inside his head... he didn’t show up around, so he was using Telepathy right at such a moment. He didn’t want to interact with anyone else, and that only made Rain suspicious.
"Bitch, please," Rain said. "Don’t compare me to someone who thinks that their butthole is the center of the universe. Since you came at such a time, it seems that you have no idea what is going to happen now. You have no idea what my plans are. I can tell you for certain that I am very different from you and the dragon god."
"I don’t doubt that... Still, your choice is unexpected."
Rain let out a tired and annoyed sigh... he had already made up his mind about the type of being the overseer was, and he didn’t want to interact with him for any reason, even more so when the overseer was bored or just wanted to make things happen the way he wanted.
"Say whatever you came here to say so," Rain said. "I don’t have all the time in the world."
"I just came here to say that I am very interested in who will come out on top. Good luck."
