Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix-Chapter 987: Serious Warning
Everyone could tell with one look that the door was essentially made of malevolent energy… Isa managed to unlock the treasure box by letting the shadows bit her hand and drain some blood. Rain wondered if his own blood would be enough or the blood of the dragons was necessary. In any case, it would be too much of a hassle to bring Isa there.
After thinking for a while, Rain decided to do a test and approached the door after he equipped the Ruthless path and equipped all of the skills that he had in it. If his guess was right, it would do the trick.
Using the Ruthless path and skills associated with it was not just a matter of employing abilities, but rather engaging with the system that could profoundly impact the user's physical and mental state.
The effects of the system could cause various alterations, changes, or even evolutions within the individual employing it. These modifications weren't merely superficial; they could profoundly reshape the person's abilities, physiology, and mental attributes.
The paths had the potential to trigger evolutionary changes, albeit some temporary, in those who employed its skills, pushing them to harness their fullest potential, albeit with potential risks and side effects. At least so says the theory when trying to use that kind of skills without equipping them.
Therefore, using these abilities was akin to deliberately triggering a change or evolution in oneself for a particular purpose or situation, understanding the potential risks involved in doing so.
Regardless, when Rain touched the shadows, he felt a bunch of teeth piercing his skin and then he flinched a bit when he felt the blood being drained. That wasn't all…
The skill Vicious Aura lost a level.
The skill Hatred Graps lost a level.
The skill Wrathful Onslaught lost a level.
Level 1: Vicious Aura - Unleash a powerful aura fueled by raw aggression. Increases physical damage output by 100% and grants a 100% chance to deal critical damage.
Level 5: Wrathful Onslaught - Channel your rage to increase attack damage by 10% per level for five seconds.

Level 10: Hatred Grasp - Infuse your strikes with malevolence, causing enemies to suffer a 10% decrease per level in their defensive power for ten seconds.
That was the first time such a thing happened, but at least it confirmed what Rain had assumed… the system truly changed their bodies down to a molecular level, perhaps enriched it with power known as mana, but in that case, what was being drained was the corruption of the sins power.
Nevertheless, when Rain was starting to think that he would need a serious blood transfusion, the shadows dispersed and then revealed the interior of the final part of the chamber.
"Let me see your hand…" Terra said. "This is quite nasty..."
Terra had realized that something was off when she realized that Rain was receiving damage overtime. He was supposed to have receive enough damage that should have been seen through his entire body, but that didn't happen, so she guessed that his blood was sucked… she confirmed that when she saw his right hand completely dry and a bit more thinner than it was supposed to be.
"And you want to teach Sealyn how to be a bit more cautious," Terra whispered under her breath as she healed Rain.
Rain couldn't say anything in his defense, but it couldn't be helped given the circumstances. Regardless, the interior of the chamber caught everyone's attention as they could see a dark mist all around the place. It almost looked like it was alive… to the point that Rain felt like grabbing the ominous sword.
Annie used her wind magic to move away the dark mist, but that didn't help at all. It felt like the dark mist absorbed her mana as well. Everyone looked at her and she just shrugged. It looked like she wasn't the only one who was too impatient… that kind of trait runs in the family, apparently.
"What can we do here aside from keep moving?" Terra asked.
"I guess not much," Rain said. "Just stay close to each other and say if you find anything weird.
Everyone nodded and then they began to walk toward the chamber… it was even hard to say how deep that place was. The ceiling looked too far away and they couldn't see the floor thanks to the mist, it was truly an annoying place to be. It felt like they were walking on the void of space.
Upon entering the chamber, Rain experienced an abrupt shift in his senses. An inexplicable weight descended upon his body, rendering his movements sluggish and impeding his ability to perceive the usual sounds of footsteps around him. The sensation of heaviness became overwhelming, and he struggled to maintain control over his own motions.
Attempting to turn his head, Rain found Danny completely immobilized, akin to being suspended mid-motion. Despite the bizarre sensation of being frozen, he retained a composed expression, similar to his surroundings indicating that, although the situation felt strange, he didn't appear to be in immediate danger.
"What the hell is going on?" Rain thought.
In the chamber's stillness, Rain detected that the others were also suspended in a state of immobility. The realization dawned on him that time seemed to have halted not just for himself but for the entire group. Some form of temporal manipulation had effectively frozen their movements, a phenomenon he couldn't fully comprehend at the moment.
Amidst this mysterious stasis, a figure cloaked in a hooded garment abruptly materialized before Rain. Recognizing the figure, Rain couldn't conceal his vexation as he bit his lip in frustration, realizing this encounter was more than just a chance occurrence.
"You…" Rain said. "You'd better not to do anything to them, otherwise, hell will be too much of a good place for you…"
"We meet again…" The teleport guy said. "I don't have any business with them, only with you, so you can rest assured."
