Infinite Slaughter System: I Kill, Therefore I Ascend!-Chapter 173: Upgrading Daoist Arts! 6
Taking a deep breath, Li Ling gathered his wits and calmed himself down forcefully. Since he had gained this ability, he also knew how to check if he was under any similar influence and found that his Spiritual Space was as pristine as the butt of a newborn baby, which made him relieved.
As for his upgrade, he decided to continue on with the Dao Soldier Technique because now he absolutely needed to know what other abilities and methods of manipulation existed at all costs, so he paid the exorbitant 10,000 Slaughter Point cost to go from the Advanced stage to the Expert stage.
The comprehension period this time lasted two whole weeks, and when he opened his eyes, Li Ling was not nearly as shaken as before. Rather, he had an expression of relief and satisfaction, for the new sub-ability that came with this upgrade was actually very useful.
It was something he called ’Slave Inheritance’, which allowed those he had marked to pass on a sub-mark to their offspring that didn’t take any of his slots, making them half of his own slaves, and the burden for ’managing’ them fell upon their progenitors, who were his main slaves.
These marks could pass down for up to at least three generations before Li Ling had to enslave someone from that line afresh to continue the transfer from parent to child.
As for the other functions of the Dao Soldier Technique, they had naturally been enhanced once more, with the limit of slots increasing to thirty, granting Li Ling more leeway.
He looked at the updated cost and gritted his teeth, taking the step from Expert to Mastery, costing 15,000 Slaughter Points. This time, the comprehension process lasted an entire month straight, causing Li Ling to miss out on a few events that occurred within the sect.
However, even if he had known, he wouldn’t have bothered, for his seclusion would only end when the yearly tournament was up, which was in approximately five months’ time from now.
When he came to, Li Ling had to get up and stretch a bit because even a third-realm body would become a little stiff after sitting for so long without a single movement or twitch of muscle. While doing some light calisthenics, Li Ling had the time to appreciate what he had just learned.
Li Ling decided to call the new sub-ability ’Slave Sacrifice’. The ability was essentially a death-transfer and life-saving ability, allowing him to transfer fatal damage from himself into any one of his now 30 slots of Dao Soldiers as long as they were filled. This unfortunately did not include the sub-marks borne from offspring... yet.
It was straightforward enough, and 30 minutes later, Li Ling stopped the exercise and sat down again, glancing at the final cost of 20,000 Slaughter Points. Right now, he had 102,844 left after all the upgrades so far, but he felt he could make this sacrifice because the remaining Daoist Arts were not that expensive, minus the Tai Xu Mysterious Method, of course.
With a single payment, the balance was reduced to 82,844, and his mind went under a new round of comprehension for double the previous period according to some strange rules, which was exactly two months’ worth of time, leaving three months until the date of the Six Paths Hall’s tournament.
When Li Ling opened his eyes, he was a bit confused and astounded, because the final sub-ability was truly wicked beyond measure. He straightforwardly named it ’Slave Return’, which allowed any of his controlled Dao Soldiers to condense the essence of their being into their marks upon death, returning to Li Ling’s Spiritual Space, in which Li Ling could choose to either spend power and resources to resurrect them or devour them to enhance himself.
The only issue was that this ability conflicted slightly with the ’Slave Transfer’ sub-ability, but there was a solution. If one of Li Ling’s Dao Soldiers were killed, he could opt to recollect their essence or have the mark transfer to the killer if he valued the killer more. The choice was up to him.
On top of that, he gained a final total of 50 slots to enslave others, which was a half-century army of people who would prioritize his life, interests, and values above their own organically with their fullest efforts. Truly chilling and insidious, this technique.
Li Ling came to the Memory Archive Extraction and smiled at its low cost of 250 Slaughter Points compared to some of the others. In truth, he still held the same opinion he did the last time he sat down to upgrade Daoist Arts, that this technique didn’t need many changes and would operate fine as it was, but who asked him to be rich?
Upgrade for me!
Li Ling was only in an enlightened state for a single day when he opened his eyes with interest, a light flashing within them. It was truly the case of searching high and low for something, yet not realizing it was right beside you the whole time.
The Advanced stage Memory Archive Extraction gained a new sub-ability he called ’Animus Replay’, which was exactly as he named it. The sub-ability allowed one to enter the extracted memory and relive it through the senses and cognition of the original person, with a synchronization rate similar to that of what Li Ling named it after.
This way, it was possible to dig out many hidden clues in extracted memories and even learn techniques as well as special skills with firsthand experience.
Now stop!
Li Ling had a question for the world.
If you are a fellow and he extracted your memory, then let you go—for whatever reason—and in those memories, he uses this new sub-ability to play through the moment when you fucked your wife, with him feeling the same sensations that you did, is it considered cuckolding?
Heh heh, Li Ling felt that this was a rather interesting sub-ability, with a lot of insidious use.
Seeing that the price increase had shot up to 500 Slaughter Points, Li Ling still made the payment out of curiosity for what came next. After a short period of about two days, he opened his eyes again and had a strange look in them, because he could understand scoring one jackpot, but scoring two back to back?
The Expert level of the Memory Archive Extraction brought a new sub-ability he called ’Memory Editing’, which basically allowed him to extract a person’s memories, bring them to his archive, edit them deeply however he wanted, and then put them back and replace the original memory of his target.
This ability was extremely useful for espionage and trickery, especially for Li Fan, who had just set out and needed to infiltrate the righteous sects. Even though they had separate consciousnesses, they had the same soul, so Li Ling could pass over any comprehensions he had to her, allowing her to be up to date in terms of Daoist Art mastery.
Alright then!
750 Slaughter Points, and the Memory Archive Extraction hit the Mastery level after four days, giving birth to a new sub-ability Li Ling called the ’Memory Link’. This sub-ability was basically planting a backdoor Trojan horse in the mind of another, allowing their connected memory book in the archive to be continuously updated with new memories remotely, without having to manually extract each time.
In other words, your Memory Book, which Li Ling plundered, would turn from a one-time ’movie’ to a ’stream’ or a ’TV show’ with regular updates and uninterrupted service for the viewer!
Anyway, if Li Ling ever got his grubby hands on you and you weren’t killed to become Slaughter Points, you should be grateful that the worst you got was your whole life story and secrets plundered with not a lick of privacy left.
The final payment of 1,000 Slaughter Points was made, and Li Ling was inundated for a week, leaving two and a half months until the tournament date!
When he opened his eyes, he could only scratch his head because now he was just plain confused. The new sub-ability that came at the Perfection stage was the most bizarre, and he decided to tentatively name it ’Memory Rebirth’.
Its effect was essentially to allow Li Ling to transform the stale Memory Books into an actual semi-sentient being in his Spiritual Space’s Archive Library, one that had all the memories that were plundered and so could talk, act, and think exactly like the person it was extracted from.
The problem was that... Li Ling did not see the value of this. Was he supposed to recreate the forms of those he plundered and have them chatter about in his head? To give him moral support or to condemn his evil actions as he did them?
Did the Infinite Slaughter System want him to become like Deadpool? Or like TFS Piccolo, who always had Nail and Kami making noise in his ears?
Why did it feel like the Infinite Slaughter System was a worried parent saying, ’Kid, you are too antisocial. Here, make some friends. You’ll like it’?
