Infinite Slaughter System: I Kill, Therefore I Ascend!-Chapter 202: The Round of 32! 4
Bei Dongshi remained standing in the center of the arena with his head slightly bowed, his blindfolded eyes seemingly locking onto Liang Yue opposite him, who was calmly but intensely gauging his opponent, his grip tightening around his saber intermittently, showing how tense he was inside.
As a fellow member of the Six Paths Demon Sect, he understood the nature of the other paths’ cultivation techniques to an extent. This was rarer in the halls but almost a given in the Middle Layer once people were paired up into teams with other Six Paths cultivators.
As far as Liang Yue knew, the Desolate Hell Hall was known as the most mysterious and cryptic hall within the sect by external parties, who hardly knew the scope of their abilities. However, even within the sect, there was not much being said or revealed about these fellows at all. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
From what he could remember, these fellows focused on an esoteric qi cultivation art that granted them the ability to do one of three things. Either they were adept at understanding the hearts of others—essentially precognition as well as prophetic abilities—or they were able to create illusion-like clones to fight for them, which were hard to see through, or they had the strange ability to attack the soul and spirit of their enemies directly.
Liang Yue was figuring out which of these three Bei Dongshi was able to do, and given his research on this ’Karma Killer’, it seemed like his ability veered toward spiritual and soul attacks. That was likely why he was standing steady in place, probably brewing an intense attack to take him out in one go.
But if Bei Dongshi could do so, couldn’t Liang Yue? He knew there would be an elimination round tournament and knew he would definitely qualify, so like those who came before, he was prepared. He might be a tier lower in popularity compared to the named talents, but he was no pushover either!
To prevent attacks to his mind, spirit, and soul, he had learned a special Daoist art that took advantage of his robust qi cultivation, allowing him to make use of his Asura Blood methods freely for offense without having to worry about defense!
"Ha!" With a low shout, Liang Yue blasted forward like a bullet, a wave of red light following him as he swung toward Bei Dongshi.
To the surprise of most parties, Liang Yue’s saber actually unleashed a wave of blood light that surged toward Bei Dongshi, which was a mixture of his Blood Power and Saber Qi from the Manifestation Realm of Weapon Attainment!
This was merely one realm lower than where Li Ling himself stood after creating a unique immortal art of the spear type, showing that not only did Liang Yue have extreme talent in the saber, but he had actually managed to mix it with the Asura Blood Descent to create his own method.
Indeed, no one should be underestimated, especially if they are named!
However, Liang Yue’s slash simply tore through Bei Dongshi’s body as he stood there calmly, bisected in half at the waist as everyone looked on with raised eyebrows. Liang Yue himself was startled, then puzzled, because he gauged that this fellow should be a spiritual attacker, not an illusionist.
In the Desolate Hell Hall, those with precognition and telepathic abilities were usually placed in the law enforcement arm of the sect, as they could easily uncover the core of various matters, while those who could perform spiritual attacks were rare and very powerful, usually becoming leaders, like Yan Moqing of the Lower Sect or Zhang Mingshen of the Middle Layer.
However, the illusionists were the majority of the Desolate Hell Hall and the most common, treated akin to outer disciples within their own hall because their ability was auxiliary and usually easy to deal with if you knew about it. Liang Yue assumed that Bei Dongshi, given his talent, reputation, and abilities shown so far, would be of a rarer type, possibly the rarest, since Yan Moqing groomed him and Zhang Mingshen had publicly taken him.
However, Liang Yue knew the signs of the Desolate Hell Hall’s illusion ability, and this was it, as he was currently battling against a clone of Bei Dongshi left behind while the real fellow hid in the background, making himself less conspicuous through a special karmic method of their cultivation technique.
Realizing this, Liang Yue couldn’t help but feel a hint of disdain in his heart toward this so-called ’top talent’. This was because the Desolate Hell Hall’s three known methods were each suppressed by a different hall.
The precognition fellows were suppressed by those of the Wild Beast Hall, who could negate their ability to read hearts and intentions by overlaying their beast bloodlines over their thoughts. So rather than hearing the actual human, the precognition fellow would be hearing the chaotic thoughts and desires of the beast the Wild Beast Hall cultivator was merged with.
The spiritual attackers were suppressed by the Divine Deva Hall, whose souls and spirits were the main focus of their cultivation, covered with resplendent light that formed a shield. For those of this sub-path, attacking a member of the Divine Deva Hall was like using one’s bare hands to try to carry a piece of hot coal—extremely torturous.
And for the illusionists, they were suppressed by the Asura Blood Hall, who were speed-type fighters with high offense, especially since Blood Qi, Blood Aura, Blood Power, or even Blood Spirit suffered very little consumption when used in such a fight. So the illusionist, who usually allowed their opponent to wail on their fake clones until they ran out of steam, would be outplayed by an Asura Blood Hall cultivator, just like in the fight with Wang Feng previously.
This was why Liang Yue felt he was qualified to feel disdain, because even if this fellow had great latent potential, that potential was for the future! As of right now, the fact was that he, Liang Yue, actually countered the fellow in terms of art usage, so his heart, which had been calm and cold due to the knowledge that he might not win, began to beat vigorously because he now felt he had a chance for victory!
If he could defeat a named talent—and one of the top three at that, almost seen as on the same level as that monster Li Ling—his fame would soar and his treatment within the sect would reach unprecedented levels!
Go all out!
Liang Yue’s eyes blazed with fighting intent and readiness to win, his entire aura changing from one of hesitant proving to that of a vicious predator toying with its prey.
However, despite all this, Bei Dongshi still stared at the fellow calmly, then lifted his head to glance above Liang Yue’s head, seeing something visible there that only he could see.
"It seems it’s about time to begin," Bei Dongshi murmured to himself thoughtfully before bringing his arms forward.
Liang Yue’s brows twitched with a sense of foreboding as he decided to charge forward, not giving his opponent a chance to finish whatever he was doing, because he had a feeling that such a thing would be bad for him!
Bei Dongshi did not pay any mind to Liang Yue anymore, simply making a hand sign that resembled an inverted version of the monkey hand sign while muttering a short incantation.
"I invoke the laws of the Samsara! Karmic Power, bestow unto me the power of my enemy!" Bei Dongshi stated with furrowed brows as a wave of esoteric energy flashed from his body, entering the void and seemingly disappearing.
But this time, Liang Yue had reached in front of the fellow, his expression grim because he wasn’t able to stop whatever the fellow had done, but at least he could unleash his full power and tear down this fellow’s illusion, then hopefully take his true body down as well!
WHOOSH!
Liang Yue swung out his most powerful saber strike since the fight started, containing a great amount of his Blood Power that the physical weapon could manage, as well as what his Saber Manifestation could amplify. The resulting attack was something that even the named talents watching on the side regarded seriously, with even Li Ling raising his eyebrows.
That attack... not bad!
CLINK!
Yet the attack was met with one exactly similar, but formed from a blackish energy, causing the two saber slashes to cancel each other out and create a shockwave.
Liang Yue covered his face and was blown back several meters, then raised his head to see what had happened. What he saw shocked him deeply to his core, making his fingers tremble as he held his saber tightly, for opposite him now stood a perfect clone of... himself!
Standing in front of the casual Bei Dongshi like a guardian spirit was a creature that had the exact same appearance, aura, and power as Liang Yue, only formed from what seemed to be a black-colored substance akin to hardened jelly!
"What do you think, Junior Apprentice Brother? This is your karma clone—the one true entity that bears all the weight of your sins and connections in this world, now condensed to fight on my side," Bei Dongshi introduced calmly, folding his hands behind his back.
