Nathan leaned forward slightly, his voice colder now. "Then tell me, Mom. What did you cook for breakfast yesterday?"

The woman chuckled lightly. "Oh, Nathan… why ask such a small thing—"

"You're not our mom," Elshienne whispered, her voice trembling now.

The woman in the driver's seat didn't respond. Her hands remained on the wheel, perfectly still. Too still. Then she spoke again—but this time, the warmth in her voice was gone. It was hollow. Flat.

"…So, you noticed."

Her face began to flicker, and the air shimmered as the illusion started to break.

Nathan immediately reached for the emergency handle. "Damn it!"

The fake Seoyang turned her head slightly, "How disappointing," she said,

The woman in the driver's seat—the fake Seoyang—smiled calmly as her face shimmered again, slowly changing. she no longer looked like their mother. Her brown hair turned jet black, her eyes a dull grey.

"I'm not your mom," she said in a low, mocking voice. "I just borrowed her face. Pretty convincing, right?"

Elshienne's heart pounded. She grabbed the door handle, pulling it hard—kicking it with all her strength.

"It won't open!" she yelled.

Nathan moved fast, trying his side, slamming his shoulder against it. "Fuck!"

The fake Seoyang sighed as if scolding children. "Don't waste your energy and behave. This is our organization car, Interesting isn't it?."

Elshienne clenched her jaw. Her eyes flicked to the steering wheel, She grabbed and yanked it—wildly twisting it back and forth. The car suddenly jerked left and right, tires screeching, the outside view becoming a blur.

"What are you doing!?" the fake woman yelled, losing control of the wheel.

"Trying to crash this thing if I have to!" Elshienne shouted, still struggling.

The woman hissed and reached back—her hand wrapping tightly around Elshienne's neck, squeezing hard.

Elshienne gasped, kicking and grabbing her wrist. "L-Let... go!"

"Enough," the woman said coldly. "Don't force me to knock you out."

But before she could tighten her grip, the air inside the car shifted. Nathan's eyes glowed faintly. His fists clenched. A burst of mana spread from his body—an invisible force that slammed through the car like a wave.

CRACK!

The car doors blasted outward—one flew off entirely, the other ripped open as if pushed by invisible hands. The fake Seoyang released Elshienne in surprise, her grip loosening.

"Elshienne!" Nathan shouted. "Jump—now!"

Without hesitation, Elshienne turned her body, and leaped out.

The wind roared past as both siblings escaped leaving the stunned impostor behind in the zigzagging.

They rolled onto the ground—bruised, dusty, but alive. Breathing heavily, Elshienne looked at her brother.

"Thanks…"

"Run!" Nathan shouted, grabbing Elshienne's hand tightly.

Without looking back, the two of them sprinted across the street, their shoes hitting the pavement hard, their breathing rough and fast. But just as Elshienne turned her head, her eyes widened in panic.

The same black car—the one the fake Seoyang drove—had made a sharp turn and was now speeding directly toward them.

"It's coming back!" she cried, her voice trembling.

The engine roared louder, the tires screeched across the road, and the headlights glared like hunting eyes. It wasn't just chasing—it was planning to hit them.

Nathan gritted his teeth, then made a sudden stop, pulling Elshienne beside him.

He dropped low, planting one knee to the ground, and placed his hand gently under Elshienne's foot.

"Trust me!" he said quickly.

"Wha—" she barely reacted before he shouted again, "Jump!"

Using his own strength and a burst of mana from his legs, Nathan pushed upward, launching Elshienne into the air with surprising force. His mana exploded from under his feet, and in one swift motion, he leapt right after her—flying through the air just before the car could ram into them.

The black car zoomed under them like a bullet, so close that they felt the air pressure and heat.

They both landed on the sidewalk, a bit clumsy but safe.

Elshienne panted, her eyes wide. "Awakening really is a big help, huh…"

She looked at Nathan, amazed. There's no way I could see that car in time. Even dodging it needs faster reaction time… better eyes… stronger legs."

Nathan only gave a small nod, still watching the road.

BOOM!

A loud explosion shook the ground. The black car had rammed into another vehicle parked at the side of the street.

The parked car exploded instantly, flames bursting into the air like fireworks. Glass shattered, and smoke rose high—but the black car?

It rolled out of the fire… without a scratch. Its dark windows reflected the burning flames around it, and its engine purred like a beast ready to charge again.

The black car turned sharply again, its tires screeching, and this time it didn't stop—it was coming straight at them like a monster hungry for blood.

"Damn it, we can't outrun it," Nathan muttered, pulling Elshienne along as fast as he could.

They ran across the pavement, turning into a narrow path between buildings, but no matter where they turned, the car followed, speeding up, ready to crush them.

Just when the car was only a few feet away and about to hit them—

GRRRRRRRRR!

A loud growl came from the shadows behind Nathan, and in a flash of dark mist, Huno with glowing red eyes, burst out from Nathan's shadow like an angry storm.

Huno jumped with speed faster than the car itself, his sharp fangs sinking deep into the metal of the hood with a loud CLANG!

The car screeched and shook violently as Huno's weight crushed the front. The impact was so strong that the back of the car lifted off the ground, hanging in the air for a second before slamming back down with a loud THUD!

Inside the car, the woman's eyes widened in shock, her grip on the wheel tightening—but she had no time to act.

BAM!

SLAM!

With a deep growl, Huno started slamming the car into the ground, lifting it halfway and crashing it down again with his powerful jaw.

Again and again, the ground cracked beneath the force, and the car's windows shattered, metal bending and twisting with each brutal smash.

"Whoa…" Elshienne whispered, her mouth slightly open.

On the fifth slam, the car finally couldn't take anymore—it broke apart into pieces, the hood flying one way, doors thrown aside, and smoke rising from the wreck like a broken toy.

But—

Just before the final slam, the woman had kicked the door open and rolled out, landing roughly on the road. Her coat was torn, her hair messy, and a cut ran across her cheek—but her eyes still glowed with a dangerous light.

She stood up slowly, brushing dust off her shoulder as if nothing had happened.
