Infinite System Inheritor Return From The Abyss-Chapter 488 - 486: One on One
Seoyang stood still. In her mind, Seojun's face appeared clearly.
'If I am the true bearer, Seojun will not get hurt. If I can protect him, his burden will be lighter. This will help my son.'
Her mana flowed deeper into the blade. The flames twisted and changed, shrinking into a small whirling air, like a tiny tornado spinning in her palm. The air around them shook. A massive shock wave began to form, pressing outward, ready to explode.
Before it could burst, Grimzark appeared in front of Seoyang.
He stood there calmly, one hand in his pocket. An invisible shield spread out from him, and the shock wave crashed into it and vanished. The force that escaped flew past them and slammed into the others instead.
People were thrown back. Some cried out. Some collapsed to the ground and did not move.
"Are you okay, ma'am?" Belgrom asked quickly.
"Are you hurt?" Ssivar added as he rushed closer.
Seoyang looked around in shock. Even the other top rankers were down. Alexa was on one knee, breathing hard. Several others had passed out completely.
Her gaze returned to the boy standing in front of her, Grimzark was untouched Not a single scratch.
"How?" Seoyang muttered.
Ssivar and Belgrom moved to support Seoyang, guiding her toward Alexa. Seoyang immediately reached out and helped Alexa sit up.
"I'm fine," Alexa said weakly, though her face was pale.
Above them, the gods watched in silence.
"Amazing," one god muttered.
Another spoke with a thoughtful tone. "Lauren's will to protect is too strong. What she wants to protect is too deep."
The divine weapon trembled once more, then slowly calmed.
"The weapon felt it," the god continued. "That power is not meant to be taken lightly. It judged that this resolve is not something it can claim."
Zyraena stared at the scene in silence. Her eyes were wide, and before she could stop herself, she muttered softly, "Even the divine weapon felt unworthy."
Beside her, Zarion crossed his arms and spoke in a calm voice. "That is the power of a mother. The divine weapon sensed her resolve and feared it could not meet Lauren's expectations. So it chose to reject her."
Murmurs spread through the white room.
Then the divine weapon trembled again. Without warning, it shot upward like a streak of light. The flames vanished, the air twisted once, and the weapon flew away.
Everyone looked up to find it but It vanished.
"What?!" someone shouted.
The room broke into noise at once.
"Did it just run away?"
"Did the divine weapon escape?"
"That has never happened before."
Seoha stared at the empty space for a second, then burst out laughing. "Whoa… did the divine weapon really just escape?" She shook her head, still smiling in disbelief. "I cannot believe what I just saw."
"Her stick is glowing!" someone shouted. It was one of the awakened who had just woken up when the divine weapon disappeared.
All eyes turned at once.
Dayanara stood frozen in place. The two sticks in her hands were shining with a soft but clear light. The glow slowly wrapped around her arms, then faded into her body.
"The divine weapon did not disappear," Mr. Tanaka said in shock. "It chose her."
"W what?" Dayanara said quietly. Her eyes widened. "Me?"
She shook her head, still unable to believe it. When the divine weapon flew away earlier, she did not see it clearly. The light was too strong back then. But now she understood. Her weapons felt different. Lighter. Stronger. Her body felt filled with power, like something deep inside her had awakened.
She was still trying to process it when someone tapped her back.
Dayanara flinched and turned around.
Seoha was standing there, grinning. "Congratulations!" she said loudly. "You are now one of the divine weapon bearers!" She laughed, clearly amused and excited.
One by one, the others came closer.
"That is amazing."
"You really deserve it."
"I knew something was special about you."
Dayanara felt her face heat up. She held her sticks close and bowed her head slightly. "T thank you," she said, her voice small. She did not know where to look. Her heart was beating fast.
Above them, the gods watched in silence.
Then one of them spoke, sounding bored but satisfied. "Alright. The trial is done."
Another god nodded. "Now, let us continue."
Zyraena clenched her teeth in silence. Inside her mind, she cursed herself. She had no real plan left. She did not think it would reach this point so fast. The idea she had kept for a long time was never meant to be used now.
But she had no choice.
She lifted her head and spoke before anyone else could move. "If they win," Zyraena said clearly, "you will let Seojun go. And you will never interfere with him again, even if he chooses to walk the path of a god."
The heavenly hall fell into silence.
Several gods frowned. Others looked at each other in confusion.
"That is a big condition," one goddess muttered.
"He is only a mortal," another said with clear displeasure.
Zeus raised his hand, stopping them before the noise could grow. His eyes stayed on Zyraena.
"And what is your suggestion?" Zeus asked calmly.
Zyraena met his gaze without looking away. Her voice was firm, serious, and without hesitation.
"A battle," she said. "One on one."
The gods stirred.
"With everyone's chosen ones," Zyraena continued. "If Seojun wins his free. No chains. No watching. No interference."
The room filled with murmurs. Some gods laughed in disbelief. Others narrowed their eyes, already sensing the challenge.
Zeus leaned back on his throne, fingers tapping slowly on the armrest.
"A bold request," he said at last. His lips curved slightly. "Very well."
Zeus looked at Zyraena closely as if he could see through her thoughts. "You seem confident that your mortal will win,"
Zyraena did not look away. She stood straight and answered clearly. "I believe in my mortal."
Some gods scoffed. Others stayed quiet.
Zeus nodded once, then turned his gaze to Seojun. "And what about his opinion," Zeus asked. "Does he agree with your suggestion."
Zyraena froze.
Her face lost color for a moment. A thought hit her hard. Some of the chosen ones belong to Seojun's family. His mother.
Her mind screamed. 'There is no way Seojun will fight his own mother!'
She clenched her hands, panic rising in her chest.
Zeus noticed it. He spoke before she could say anything. "His family will be an exception."
Zyraena's eyes widened.
Hope rushed in so fast it almost made her weak. She quickly turned to Seojun, her eyes filled with pleading.
Seojun was quiet for a moment. Then he lifted his head. "When do we start?" he asked calmly.
Zyraena almost lost control of her expression. Inside her mind, she shouted in pure relief. 'Yes!'
The gods looked at Seojun again, this time with new interest. Some smiled. Some frowned.
Zeus leaned forward on his throne. "Prepare the stage."
