Chapter 312: Quests, Wealth, and Weaponry

[Auction House - Grand Hall.]

"Six hundred thousand!" A stunning young woman announced, raising her hand with effortless grace.

Seeing the Lady, Qin Li leaned in, whispering urgently to Sunny. "Sir Alex, that’s the Heiress of the Xin family, Xin Jo. She is a powerful Fourth Order powerhouse, one of the top contenders for the royal succession."

Sunny nodded slowly, absorbing the information about the political landscape. He turned to Josephine. "Do you need it?" he asked, purely out of domestic consideration.

"No," Josephine shook her head, holding up her simple, elegant wedding ring. "This is a lot better than any ornamental tiara."

Sunny smiled at her confidence.

Just then, an invisible, high-priority alert flashed in his mind.

{Warning!!}

{An unknown power has targeted Master.}

{Gain two new Quests.}

{First Quest: Spend Nine Hundred Trillion gold coins before leaving the auction premises. Time Limit: End of Auction.}

{Second Quest: Master has two weeks to locate the Omni Soul Stone and upgrade the system. Countdown starts now.}

Sunny blinked, his external calm hiding his shock. He hadn’t received a mission prompt in a long time, and now he had two: one ridiculously expensive spending quest, and one time-critical retrieval quest linked to the unknown power.

’Nine hundred trillion? That’s barely anything, but why the urgency? And what is this "unknown power" that the system flags with such a severe warning?’ He thought.

He scanned the hall, seeing everyone focused on the tiara. He turned to Elara and Precious.

"Do you two like it?" he asked, testing their responses.

"No, too shiny," Elara said dismissively, her focus remaining on the purpose of their attendance. "Besides, wearing a tiara will make me look like a pampered kid."

"Hey. Wearing a tiara isn’t bad," Precious said, gazing longingly at the jewelry. "If only I had the money to get it. It’s magnificent."

"One million gold coins."

The hall went silent. Everyone turned, staring at Sunny in shock—he had instantly doubled the current bid without hesitation. Even his table was stunned.

"Boss... I was just saying it, I didn’t mean—" Precious stammered, horrified he had taken her casual comment seriously.

"No need to lie," Sunny interrupted, his expression placid. "I know you want it. And you will have it."

"Who is this guy? Anyway, I won’t let you have it. 1.5 million," a rugged young man with a sheathed sword on his back announced, crossing his arms.

Qin Li quickly whispered again: "That’s Michael, the Heir of the Blade family. Also a Fourth Order powerhouse. The Blade family are wealthy and notoriously ruthless. If you anger him, he might try to trap you."

"Trap me? With money? That has never happened before," Sunny scoffed. He was here to spend money, not save it.

"Five million," Sunny announced, his voice carrying an indifferent resonance that belied the monumental figure.

Michael frowned, then smirked, deciding to push the wealthy newcomer. "Ten million."

’You should be lucky I am trying to complete this ridiculous quest, or I would have bankrupted your family with that one item,’ Sunny thought, annoyed by the waste of time.

"Twenty million," he said aloud.

"...?!"

The host, John, and everyone in the hall gasped. The price for the ornamental tiara had soared into the territory of high-grade spiritual artifacts. After a few seconds of silence, all eyes turned to Michael.

"I am out," Michael announced, forcing a pleased smile to hide his frustration. "He must be truly rich, and it seems he loves the tiara, so I will be backing down. No need for pointless rivalry."

’A shrewd retreat.’ Qin Li noted.

"Twenty million going once? Going twice? Sold! To Mr. Alex!" John exclaimed, sweat beading on his brow. "Sir Alex, are you paying now or later?"

"Now," Sunny answered with a small nod.

"Ok, there’s a bank stone on your table; you can transfer the payment from it," John directed.

Sunny looked down at the mundane-looking stone. ’I knew this looks familiar.’ He calmly pulled out his own personal Banking Stone.

Seeing the stone in Sunny’s hand, everyone was speechless.

"That stone can only be used by royalty or those of the most ancient, powerful houses! Who really is this guy?" Michael thought, his jaw clenching. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

’This guy isn’t simple. His claims of wealth are genuine,’ Xin Jo thought, staring intently at Sunny over the rim of her wine glass.

"Ok... Seems he has some serious backing," Qin Wei stated, turning her attention back to the stage, her calculations ramping up exponentially.

"Wow! Payment received! Congratulations, Sir Alex, you now own the Silver Star Tiara," John announced. The attendant rushed toward Sunny’s table and presented the glittering jewelry.

"It’s for her," Sunny said, gesturing toward Precious. His action stunned everyone even more profoundly.

"You spent twenty million gold coins... for a worker?" Qin Li asked in utter shock, then quickly glanced at Josephine, who was busy calmly eating a cookie, entirely unfazed by the expenditure.

"Wow... thank you, Boss," Precious whispered in awe, holding the tiara with the reverence one would give a fragile egg. "I will take very good care of it!"

"Ok everyone! The next item on the list is a sword!" John announced, his excitement renewed by the massive sale.

At the mention of a sword, Michael’s ears instantly perked up, and his demeanor shifted to serious focus—this was his specialty.

John gestured to the side, and a woman wheeled a glass display case onto the stage. Inside, resting on a crimson cushion, was a red sword, glowing with a faint, malevolent light.

"This here is the Demon Blade," John announced, his voice rising in dramatic fervor. "It has the proven strength to split mountains and can even kill a seasoned Seventh Order powerhouse with ease! Everyone! This is a God-Rank Sword, engraved with high-tier destructive runes! In the hand of a master sword-wielder, it is a raging bull!" He smiled widely.

"The starting price is 5,000,000 gold coins!"

"Ten million!" Michael quickly yelled, his voice ringing with absolute certainty.

’Hahaha! This sword is mine!’ he thought inwardly, already anticipating his victory.

But before the thought could settle, a cool, commanding female voice sounded, stunning him in place.

"Twenty Million."
